I read on the Disney site that all Standard view rooms at WL have balconies or patios. I then read on Deb's site that some do not. Which is it? Has anyone ever stayed in a Standard View without a balcony? Is this something that I need to request?
Thanks for the info!:D

All the rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have balconies with the exception of the ground floor rooms which have patios instead. Also some of the rooms on the 6th floor have enclosed balconies, and all of the rooms on the 7th floor have enclosed balconies.

hope this helps.

This was a big help. Thanks! My question now is...what do you mean by an enclosed balcony?
Thanks again!:D

in order to see out into the courtyard or the woods view, you would actually have to go out onto the balcony to look out. as oppossed to a regular balcony where you don't have to leave the room to see out, through the rails. hope this helps

We had an enclosed balcony at WL (were on the 6th floor), and I actually preferred it. It seemed more private than the rail balconies. But dclfan22 is right--you can't see the view unless you go out and look over the balcony.

With the Standard rooms that are on the North side (they look out over an ugly loading dock and service vehicle area)-the enclosed balcony might be a better view--In the distance we could actually see the top of the castle and the astro orbiter, but the view looking down was truly awful. I was really disappointed in the view at first--I couldn't believe how bad it was. But, it was quiet (did not hear beeping trucks in the am) and very convenient to Roaring Forks --just a little "jag" to get to the elevator. And it was neat to look out at night and see the castle. We were never in our room at Fireworks time, but I'm sure you'd be able to see them from this location. Bottom line in, we were never in our room, so the view didn't matter much. We only paid 119 a night with an AP rate. I would not have been happy paying 199 (rack rate) for this view.

If you spend a lot of time in the room/balcony---do not get a standard room-you may be very disappointed.

We went in Jan--I asked for an upgrade and was gently refused ;)
