We have never stayed at WL and are booked into a standard view. Are there any good locations for this? I realize we will be looking at parking etc. but are there rooms that look on to things like trash dumpsters etc....
What would a good room request be for standard view?

We just came back last week from a last minute Easter stay. We had a standard view at WL not by choice, it was all that was available. However, we did ok. Our room was 2026, facing the MK area. Right outside was a little pond area, and the service area was to the left. This room was far enough away that it didn't really affect anything. We could see the fireworks, though it was through the trees. So maybe you could ask for something on a higher floor in that area. I would request something in that area again. Enjoy!! By the way, upon checking in we asked for the nightly turn down service, which I have seen to do on this board. We were told it was only for concierge level guests! Can anyone shed a little light on that subject?

WE like the 1000 rooms. I hate elevators and this works for me.1026? is at the end near the walkway to the pool and the boat dock. You look out at the woods and the little pond. Saw some birds and otters.

Are you sure you want to make a specific room request? We booked AKL standard view last December and made no requests. We were upgraded to a Savannah view and were thrilled.

What do you think the chances of being upgraded are? The reason I ask this is that the only room available for the first two nights of are stay is a courtyard view room. After that, we are staying in a standard view room (9 nights). Do you think that they would just ask us to stay in a Courtyard View for the whole length of our trip instead of moving?

Upgrades would depend when you are going. I'm sure peak season it will be difficult to get the upgrades but non-peak it is probably pretty easy.

mrsswat,

I believe you had a woodsview room. The rooms *001-*034 are the north wing, otter pond rooms that most people love. The upper floors are better since you can see MK through the trees.

I would love to know about the turndown service also. Is it available to everyone? Does it cost? Anyone?

Does anyone have a map of WL so I can see what you are referring to?

I did turn down service once at AKL-all I did was say I would like turn down service- we had a standard savannah view room. They came in each night and turn down the beds, put out clean towels, put an African proverb on the bed and chocolates. It was nice and free.

I loved AKL and am a little worried about WL with standard view and the fact that you mentioned they said no turn down service. Also, I have read the rooms are a little run down and AKL was spotless and new feeling.
I have thought about trying to change to AKL but I am trying to stay at all the resorts one time.

We had a standard room once at WL and simply asked that our room be as close to the lobby as possible. This was perfect for us. The room was still quiet, but we had quick access to all the lobby amenities we needed. This was nice for going to Roaring Forks at night for a quick snack or drink refill.
