Hey everyone! We will be at the WL the day after Thanksgiving!!

I just have a few questions! I know there is a wonderful thread dedicated to answering questions...and believe me...I have read "years" worth of material!! LOL

But, I couldn't seem to find an answer to a very specific request....we have a courtyard room booked...my only wish is that my boys are able to see the geyser erupting! We have never been to WL..so I am not even sure if this is something you can see from the rooms??? If so, I would love to know which floors and rooms (if you can remember) have the BEST view of the geyser?!?!

Thanks so much! I know I'll have more questions!

OK..so also, I have read that there is a floor with solid wall balconies? Is there a benefit or drawback to this? Just wondered why the solid wall on one particular floor? :confused3

Thanks!

You should be able to see the geyser from most courtyard room balconies, though the ones in the South wing would have the best views. You may be better off just asking the CM at check-in for a room with the best geyser view, rather than trying to figure it out ahead of time.

As for the balconies, I strongly suspect it's an architectural design element. But they may have some study (or building code) that says a toy falling from a 6th floor balcony can kill somebody, but that stuff falling from a lower floor is less dangerous.

EDIT - I just took a look at the map http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/wildlodge.htm and it looks like I'm wrong about the South wing beeing better - the geyser looks pretty much centered.

My boys and I loved going onto the balcony at 7 every morning and watching the geyser erupting. It erupts every hour on the hour after that. I forget what time of night it stops.

The solid wall balconies are on the 7th floor. It is concierge level. We stayed concierge so we did have a solid wall. The down fall of the solid wall is that you can not sit down and see the great view. You have to stand to see anything. We had a wonderful view of the pool and lake but had to stand to see it. All the other floors have "regular" walls.

Hope that helps.

We had a solid wall on the fourth floor. We were directly above WCC, 4 floors up. The best way to view the geiser erupting is to be standing in front of it. There is a walkway there. It erupts every 30 minutes.
