WL or DCL or Disneyland or Hawaii!!

She would know. She spends more time in the islands than I do. I forget how long a trip it is. For us it is a nice 5 hour non-stop flight or sometimes less depending on the wind.

11 hours of airtime from the East Coast--14 hours including 1 connection and airport time. :earseek:

I would go for DL. Much as I love Hawaii, it is a long flight even for me, and I'm from CA. Save Hawaii for when you have more time...and don't omit Waikiki based on this thread. There was a great article in Frommer's Budget Travel magazine a couple months ago...there is lots to see and do, and if you stay at one of the beach hotels you can walk to almost anything you want to see in Oahu...which is my idea of a vacation...no driving=great time !!! As for another Wonder cruise...I LOVE DCL, but I'm not paying their prices to repeat a vacation...we've done the Western, the Eastern, and are booked on the EB repo...after that we're done, we'll see Nassau along with other new ports.

WOW that might make me stop going. I can't imagine how much that cost but you rack up the miles fast that way. We finally got our first free tickets but we only have enough for one free ticket next summer and I need 3 tickets with the baby coming. First class to Maui is $1900 each person with one free. Can't imagine how much it would be from the east coast. No wonder you stay for 2 or 3 weeks. We try to do no less than 10.

Aloha

I find this funny, because I am going through the same decision process myself.

Do I go to WDW May 27 to June 6 or go to Oahu Oct 1-9 I would love to do both, but that isn't going to happen. It all depends on what the new MYW package costs and if it is actually more affordable then past packages.

I am actually going to Kauai in July with my 2 kids, ages 3 and 5 for a family vacation with bros and sis's and their children. Can't wait! We are flying from Atlanta, YIKES! I grew up in California and have done Disneyland, although not recently, and we are planning a short trip to WDW in February. Never done a cruise but would LOVE to. I decided that I am going to break up my flights. You can get great rates from Atlanta to LA and also some deals from LA to Honolulu (hopefully when I go anyhow). Going a day early the first leg so the kids can unwind, and then doing the same on the way back. I am not going to even attempt to go direct from GA to HI. It would be a nightmare! lol I am finding that flying that route "may" be more costly anyhow, not that I would do it anyhow. ;)

How exciting! I spent the fourth of july in Kauai two years ago, and there is a great fireworks show in Lihue. We didn't rent a car while there (we rented a condo in Princeville and got around on foot--a great way to see Kauai!) so we had to get a ride, but it was fun!

I have been asked which Hawaiian island the Poly is most like, and I would have to say Maui, because it seems laid back, friendly and relaxing. I might have to stay at the Poly to supplement my hawaiian addiction :). Right now, our next trip is planned for the Big Island, but not until Christmas! We are going to DL again in two months.

I wonder what the OP will decide?

By the way, to the poster who read the Frommer's article...Frommer publishes articles like that about just every tourist destination. It would be a mistake for a young family to visit Waikiki at the expense of Maui. The OP already knows what she likes! And one CANNOT get around the entire island of Oahu by foot...it is a huge island, in case you haven't been there. Waikiki yes, but that's a lot of walking and the most beautiful sights of Oahu are outside of Waikiki. If one went to Waikiki and did not rent a car, it would not be possible to see the north shore, Manoa, the lookout, Diamond Head, Sea Life park, etc. etc. The best parts of the island are outside the Waikiki area, IMHO.
