Okay, I have not posted alot because of all of the information here I have been reading alot. We are going to WDW next June and my family includes me, DH, and 4 children(3 mine and 1 family friend) My family thinks we are staying at POP, however I am planning on surprising them with a split stay at POP and AKL or WL. We may even stay the entire time at AKL or WL.

What is your opinion of each and which would you choose and why. I think I have already made up my mind, I just want others opinions since it will be surprise to my husband as well
Thanks

I would have to say AKL. Why? 'Cause I want the WL to myself!;) On a more serious note....I like the WL for it's theming and because it's a MK resort. I like to start and end my trips at the MK.

We've stayed at WL and AKL so I'll give you my thoughts. I think a lot depends on your kids and their ages, etc.

We stayed at WL with my DS10 and DS7 (six years ago). We loved it -- the pool was great, the slide was great, the beach was great, the hot tubs were great -- we loved the decor and feel of the Lodge and the boat to MK was awesome. We also rented Sea Raycers (I think then they were Water Mice) on Bay Lake and had a blast racing around. Roaring Forks was a good snack bar, and we enjoyed Whispering Canyon too. We had a character meal, I think, at Artist Pointe. Very nice trip.

I later stayed at AKL with my DS12 and DS9 (two years later). We had a savannah view room and enjoyed seeing the animals all the time. My oldest son loved the Boma buffet, but my youngest son did not -- too exotic for him. The Mara snack bar has food he liked, but Boma was just not for him. The pool was great, but I don't think we'll be back. We missed the beach and boats. The animals were GREAT, though!

So that's my two cents! Have fun either place!

Since it's a surprise, I would choose AKL. I think they would be more taken aback by the theming at AKL with the animals and all. JMO
