WL Memory box

Whatever became of the memory box placed at WL by a DIS member? Does it still exist? Just wondering.

We were the first to sign it and put our pictures in it after it was placed there last year while on our honeymoon...we were thinking of taking a trip over to WL this september again too to check it out.

There is quite a story about our Memory Box, Last Febuary it came up missing, then we where criticized about our post on Fred's thread which he requested to be locked as things where getting bad...the negative remarks followed to the Like the Phoenix, out of the ashes arises THE NEWEST WL FAQ! (Part 3) and that thread then was locked by the Moderators...So thats why the new thread says The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am! So no more Memory Box sorry, it was so much fun.

I think it was sort of a "hide and seek" box that DISers hid on the grounds and put things in it. Probably the groundskeepers found it and it's sitting in the Lost and Found?

Oh no! We put some memories of our friend, BL from these boards, in there after her passing. I was hoping to visit it this Oct.



WL was her favorite resort. Guess I'll just have to bring down another reminder of her to leave in the woods sans box.

I don't believe another box was ever placed on WL grounds.

Majestic was working to create another box BUT people starting SLAMMING those of us who were "pro-box," saying that it was dangerous and unwise because it might be mistaken for a bomb or something hurtful, and because placing the box on Disney property was littering or defacing the grounds.

It got a little ugly. thread had to be closed

Interesting that people thought of the bomb aspect, ect. That would have never occured to me. We geo-cache and it sounds something like this - except we use a GPS to locate a box (usually old ammo box) that someone has hidden 'goodies' in. You sign a log, take a memory, and leave something in return. Often it is little childrens trinkets, lottery tickets, some are 'themed' like golf, Disney, etc. These are all over the US hidden in parks, and public places. Go to www.geo-caching.com if you are interested. If you put in your zip code it will give caches in your area.

Any how, too bad it isn't there. We are going to our first trip and would have loved to put something in this!

That stinks that it will not be replaced. It was such a great highlight from last year's trip. I was looking forward to finding it again, this year.
