WL Lodge View or Standard View??

We are booking our 2006 after Thanksgiving trip to the WL! Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the "Lodge View" rooms (aka Woods View) and "Standard View" rooms?? Well, other than the $234 price difference? Would anyone suggest a certain building to request if we did go with the "standard view" room? We'll spend some time in the room, but that will mostly be to rest. I guess hubby and I could possibly sit out on the deck after the kids go to bed, but most likely that will be it.

Everyones thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!

the lodge view rooms look out on the VWL.

the others can be the parking lot or the smoking house. they are above and surround the lobby - so going out your front door is probably a better view than the balcony.

We had a lodge view room - fifth floor overlooking the pool - it was very nice to step out on the balcony in the morning while the kids were still asleep and drink coffee. We never had any problems with noise from the pool at night - it had a great view of the fireworks at the MK - we couldn't see the castle or anything like that but we could see the fireworks over the top of the other section of the WL. Do it!!!!

We had a lodge view room with a view of the castle. We were on the 5th floor. I believe it was room 5032. I'm sure you could see the fireworks, but we were not in the room at the time. Could see the castle changing colors. It wasn't a far walk to Roaring forks once you got off the elevator. This room had 2 queen beds. Very nice, would definately ask for this room again.

If you get Smokehouse view, be prepared to be woken up by the smell of bacon every morning.

I'm confused. I thought if you wanted a view of the castle, you should request "woods view", not "lodge view". I booked woods view for our Dec. trip at $230 a night hoping for a castle view. I do hope I haven't screwed up!! Can someone please clarify this for me?

The view of the castle isn't available from all woods view rooms, or even most -- just a few I believe, and even then, very significantly obstructed.

I'm hoping we get lucky. Just wanted to make sure I did the right thing requesting "woods" & not "lodge".

Woods and Lodge are the same thing. Disney has Woods view on their site. It used to be Lodge view. At least that is what I was told by my AAA agent.

Woods view will put you on the external sides of the lodge where you'll see trees and nature. Lodge view will put you on the internal sides by the pool and recreation areas.

If all else fails, I'd suggest calling the hotel themselves and asking the front desk. We stayed there two years ago and had a great Lodge view room on the fifth floor with a view of the pool and river area. I don't think you'd go wrong anywhere in this hotel!!!

So what about the Standard vs. Lodge/Woods question. I too would prefer Lodge/Woods but am debating the cost difference. Any other opinions on whether it is worth the $$ for the 'view'? Anyone who has stayed in the Standard view - any issues ie noise, any 'good' standard view locations, any 'I'll never do Standardview again' comments ?

If Lodge view overlooks the pool, then what is Courtyard view? I thought that was overlooking the pool? But I've never stayed there before so I don't know.

Why is Courtyard view more expensive? I wanted Standard or Woods (Lodge), but Courtyard was all that was available.

Courtyard overlooks otter falls and the pool area. I had it this past July(was upgraded from woods view) and loved it! Very peaceful to sit on the balcony and watch the people in the pool below or the little animals early in the morning. Have a great view of the EWP. Could not see the fireworks but I simply walked down to the front driveway and you got an awesome view of Wishes.

Having stayed both woods and courtyard, I would definately advise people to go courtyard. very quiet and peaceful but with a great view.

Our first trip to WL started in a standard room w/woods view, but it was so noisy we asked to be moved. The noise was from people running up and down the halls late at night and talking loudly (and not just children, either!). DH didn't want a pool view because he thought it would be noisy, but we were moved to a junior suite which overlooked the pool and lake, and it was very quiet.
