We just returned from WL and stayed on the concierge level because we wanted the extra perks during Wilma. Here is the the GB&U:
Room: Fine. This is a great place if you like mission style furniture and western motifs. The beds are very comfy. The legs on the beds jut out and eat toes. Beware! Sooner or later, everyone in our family stubbed their toes on the beds. The bad news is that we paid for a courtyard view but had to stand to see over the balcony because the balcony walls in most CY concierge are private - meaning that they have solid walls. The kids have to dangerously stand on the chairs to see out. Be sure to supervise them! Best part of our stay was the towel animals! We love Diana, our mousekeeper!
Concierge perks: CMs are great. We had to make many changes in ADRs because of Hurricane Wilma, and they came through for us. We saved a lot of time by having these nice CMs make the needed callls for us. Breakfast food is good - pastries, small bagels, juices, fruit, coffee, tea,cereal. Breakfast is the best deal because it is offered at 7AM before the parks open. Breakfast is the same everyday. There was no lunch but sweet snacks instead. Would like to have seen crackers, veggies, fruit instead especially in the afternoon when many return for a break from the parks. Dinner was a skillet offering, with uncrustables for the kids. Cheeses, breads, fruit, bread, pepper spread. Everything the same each day except for the main course. Desserts in the late evenings included cookies, dream bars, brownies, coffees, Baileys, Kahlua, etc. Cans of pop and water also offered at each meal. The downside is the lounge closes at 10pm well before the parks close. If you are spending a lot of time at the parks and dining off property, I am not sure that I would recommend concierge.
Overall: Nice motif. This is the place to stay if you do not live in the west and would like a change of pace. Lobby carvings are beautiful and the pool and stream areas are lovely. This is not the place for you if you are looking for a beachy, tropical feel. Transportation to the MK and Contemporary via boat is the way to go. Trips via bus to the other parks often include stops at Fort Wilderness, and it usually takes about ten minutes on the long side to wait for a bus. The place in general needs a good dusting and the windows badly need cleaning. Painters were everywhere touching up.
