Hi! Please help me decide if this is a good deal... I have an apportunity to upgrade our June trip to concierge, 5 nights at about $800 coming from a STANDARD room! Is this a good deal? I think it is, but I've neve stayed conceirge before... What do you think?

Thanks:wave:

Yes, it would be $800 more to upgrade our room from standard view to conceirge. So that's what about $160 more a night? Too much?

OK:

As I see it, you have a standard room reservation at a deluxe resort (WL) in June, which is the deluxe hotels "regular season". So, without any other discounts to apply, you would pay $239 a night (before taxes are added). A concierge room runs $385 during regular season. So, if you were offered to upgrade to concierge for $800/5 days, that works out to $160 a day more. $239 + $160 = $399. You would be paying $14.00 MORE a night than the regular rate for concierge.

Of course, you might have gotten your room discounted somehow. (you didn't mention) So it might work out to a savings. Just add $160 to your daily rate and see if it is less than $385.

do you plan on eating $800 worth of concierge snacks and food items?

Okay, you guys are too smart to just give part of the info:sunny: Here is the whole story.
We are on the Kids go for free Visa promotion (not disney visa). So we have 2 adults and 2 children with uph tix for 5 nights at WL. Total was $1700. If I do the upgrade the total will be $2500. The original reservation couldn't even be beat by AP rates. Getting the uph tix for my two DDs was a big savings.

So now that you have all the information, what do you think? I should have given it to you in the first place. Sorry.:teeth:
:wave2:

McCall - Is eating the only benefit of the concierge room? We certainly wouldn't eat $800 worth, but lunch and breakfast every day probably... but who knows with 2 DD's. Night caps would be great:teeth: For me not for the DDs:hyper:

Last summer we went on the 7 nights for the price of 4. Standard room at WL. When we arrived they offered us concierge for $50.00 more per night. That was $350 for 7 nights. This was in July. We took it for that. The frig is $10 a day in a standard and we figured at least breakfast for 4 of us could cost nearly $40 right there. That didn't include the booze offered in the evening and afternoon snacks we ate each day. For $800 not worth it. Even with the discount for the Visa thing.

My 2 DDs went to the "Grand Adventures in cooking" at the GF. But you have to be ages 3-10. My girls LOVED it.

Or.........

send DDs to Cubs Den and you two go out for a couple of hours, maybe to a nice restaurant.

Or.......

try for a cruise!

You can get a lot for $800. And then just ask for the turndown service if you want to get some luxury.

It's hard to tell someone not to try CL because I think everyone should do it at one time or another to say they have tried it and see if they feel it is worth it. But $160 extra a night is a lot. But some on this board feel it is worth it. Just depends on what you like.

:)

I just booked 6 nights Woods View, but out of curiosity asked how much extra for concierge. The difference with our AAA discount was still $ 745. I turned it down, even though I'd love it. I just can't justify it. And that's for November, value season. Maybe a better discount than AAA, I don't know, I might reconsider.

you can always try to get CL when you get there...2x I have been offered to bump for $50 more a night. We just got back last night and we decided not to go CL it was just a short trip and we wanted BB and none were available that night.

ps..I had turndown service each night this weekend...all you have to do is call them and they will...of course, I left a tip each night.

My vote would be no. I can't imagine getting $160/night more benefits from the WL concierge (and I've stayed there).
