WL Flag Family...Insider Tips

Staying at CBR for 5 nites and then on to the WL for 2 nites.....does anyone have any tips on how to be a flag family....must we wait until check in....or could we visit the lodge earlier in our stay and make an attempt???

All suggestions welcomed!!!

By the way, it might be mentioned in the DIS' "Wilderness Lodge FAQ" (I haven't read the FAQ but I bet it might be in there somewhere).

We lucked out. Front desk staff forgot that May has 31 days, so they didn't fill it-until we walked in and said Friday is May 31st! It was a great experience. Fantastic view! You walk by concierge to get to the stairs that leads to the roof. (You might be tempted to snatch a pastry!)
