I had to switch from Swan to the Wl for the sake of my son's asthma. I was wondering how is the dining at the WL? I'm interested in everything from the 2 sitdown restaurants to room service. Anything you can tell me and my family will be appreciated:D

We have eaten at Whispering Canyon - but it definitely doesn't whisper. It is a loud, upbeat dining experience.

It was a few years ago, but if I remember correctly, they serve family style meals, the servers sing & dance. King of like a hoe-down atmosphere. It was a lot of fun, but loud & not somewhere I would eat every night.

We do have PS's for one night on our next trip with a large group of people & it should be fun.

We have never eaten at any of the other restaurants in the WL.

FYI - Trail's End Buffet is only a boat ride away from WL over at Fort Wilderness. They have a great buffet for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Their breakfast is great; lunch & dinner is all comfort foods, very homestyle dishes. They are very reasonably priced, probably the best meal value in all of WDW.

breakfast at Whispering Canyon is good. We have always done the family style breakfast which is a large cook pan filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, Potatos and small pine cone shaped waffles. The food was good except the waffles , while cute, were always luke warm. You can order alacarte too.
I have had alacarte lunch there and the sandwiches are really good. I have never had the family style lunch or dinner. Reviews of that are split with allot of people not likeing the smoked meats.
Roaring Forks is the fast food place and the food is pretty good but not outstanding.

We just had dinner at WCC about 2 weeks ago. We were a large party and it was a lot of fun. And as some of the other posters mention it is anything but a "quiet" atmosphere. The food was good, I actually had an Italian dish and it was quite good.

The other restaurant, AP (Artist Point) is one of my favorite sit-downs in WDW. The food and service have always been top notch and that atmosphere is quite the opposite of WCC, it is quiet and intimate. We did bring dd here when she was 3 and she was fine. It is a more upscale restaurant but I would still be comfortable bringing children.

They had a really neat dessert that kept dd busy for 20 minutes. It was a white chocolate Mickey puzzle with little dabs of different colored jellies she could paint the puzzle with. She didn't eat any of it, but she did nibble on the cookies that came with it. It was well worth the extra time we got to sit and relax after dinner. It is a pricey restaurant but if you want to splurge I highly recommend it.

The snack bar type restuarant is Roaring Forks. They have a nice selection of fast foods. It's good for a quick bite.

I also recommend visiting TEB at Ft Wilderness. The food is good and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very casual and as Melsmice mentioned it is only a boatride away. I think FW is WL's answer to the BW (if your used to staying at the EPCOT resorts). Lots of things to do at FW;) We like to switch off from the S/D to either WL or FW. The Cub's Den kids' club is also nice at WL.

Regretfully I had a dreadful experience at Artists Point. DH's meal was fabulous, but my tenderloin ordered MR came out burned and well done. I sent it back, and the second time it came out medium, bordering on MW. The service was not good either, she was wayyyy too chatty, practically wouldn't leave us alone, until it was time to leave, then we couldn't find her to get the check and get out of there.

Unfortunately we had a similar experience as Ducklite's at Artist Point. I've heard the salmon is good but we chose beef entrees (4 of us) and we were all disappointed. Two of the entrees came out cold. Service was lacking. And it took us forever to find our server to order dessert, get it, and then had to wait a LONG time to get our bill. Pretty place but that and the wine list is about all I can say for it. It may have been an off night but I can't say I'd return.

We had a good lunch at Whispering Canyon though, and thought Roaring Forks was a good fast food place. We liked taking our food out to a table outside when they were available and just soaking up the courtyard atmosphere. We didn't do room service since we just brought something up from Roaring Forks in the morning or for a nighttime snack.

We also had a bad experience at Artist Point last March. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. The server never wrote our order down and had to come back 3 times to ask us what we wanted. The appetizers arrived fairly quickly but when our entrees finally arrived 75 minutes later 2 of the 5 were wrong. We had to wait 30 more minutes for the new entees. The server apologized profusely and disappeared. We waited another half hour after we were done with our entrees for her to come back. At this point, we just asked for the check and didn't bother with dessert or coffee. Even though we were on the Deluxe Plan and those items were included, we felt that almost 4 hours of torture was enough.
We did like the Whispering Canyon. The food was good, the servers were very attentive and the experience was very enjoyable (if not downright hysterical).

We enjoyed the counterservice restaurant. All of the food was made to order, and very good.

We liked breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We ate there 1st thing in the morning, before they were doing all of the antics, so it was peaceful and the food was good. We didn't enjoy dinner at all. The food left a lot to be desired, service was slow, and it was very loud and rambunctious. Not an atmosphere I desire after a long day in the parks.

Artist's Point.. never eaten there for dinner, as the menu doesn't appeal to me. The view is spectalar, however... and if the dinner service is as good as the breakfast service was when they were open for breakfast, you will like it. We find this restaurant to be more scewed toward an adult dinner out. I am sure not everyone would agree with me. There is a kid's club right there, though, if you desire.

When we stayed there, there was an overwhelming scent of pine in the lobby. If your son is at all sensitive (I am and had a bad reaction) this might not be the place for you.

Thanks for all the wonderful responses. I really wanted to try WC. Of course the counter service is a must for my young children. I am still hoping for some comments on the room service menu.

eeyore0062-Thanks for the concern. We just recently found out about the allergies, and he has a list of things that can trigger them. Plus the shots they have him on now really help. We do live Christmas tress and other things around the house with him, and the pine smells don't bother him. I thank you for the warning though as I never would have thought of that.:o
