I am hoping someone can help me decide if this is worth it? It seems everyone really raves about the other resorts concierge service and not WL. Any experience? I have tried PMing someone and also posted on the Lizard Lounge thread to know avail. Now I am strarting to wish we hadn't upgraded from standard!

My first exposure to concierge was at Wilderness Lodge - we were offered an upgrade at check in and decided to try it. I thought the food saved us between $30 and $50 per day. My family is DH, DD (10) and DS (8). The other benefit was having a semi-private place to relax outside of your room. We enjoyed the balcony lounge most nights for at least an hour while our kids played with the Lincoln Logs. The concierge staff saved us when my son bought a toy rifle at the gift shop that wouldn't fit in our luggage - solution - a Fed Ex box supplied by concierge staff so we could check the toy gun (it was only about $15 so shipping it home seemed a bit ridiculous). If I get a chance to upgrade now I always do - we call it "livin' large at the Wilderness Lodge". I've never been to any other resort concierge so I can't compare - but for my family the Wilderness Lodge concierge is very special.

Thank you so very much - your reply makes me feel better. I have three little ones so I am thinking it will be just perfect for us.

we just got back from wl conc. and GF conc. I can tell you that the main difference I think in WL conc was the CM level of service. Many times we asked them questions or to help us out and they acted as though we should handle that ourselves. The GF conc. services, I think, are far superior than the WL. That being said the food and beverage services are far more kid friendly at the WL and you should have no problem eating dinner there most nights, as we choose to do. They have great kid friendly foods like soups, breads and PB and J uncrutables, which I admit I ate for dinner one night and was so happy!!

We got a free upgrade from a standard room to the WL concierge level water view in April. It was very nice to be upgraded but I would not book a concierge room.

All rooms are on the 7th floor, you insert your room key into the elevator to get to the 7th floor.

Rooms are the same, they do have a small refrigator under the sink. All balconies are "dormer" style -- this means you cannot see a thing sitting down. I heard several guests complaining about it.

Food offerings -- they were very good.

Breakfast was danish/bagels/cereal/fresh fruit/yogurt, etc.
coffee/tea/juices

Morning/Afternoon Snacks -- juice/lemonade/ice tea/ cookies/gummie bears/peanuts

Evening was soup/pasta/cheese and crackers/veggie dip/beer/wine /soda/peanut butter and jelly sandwiches/ribs/chicken skewers

Later evening was desserts and coffee and cordials

closed up tight at 10PM.

You must ask the CM's for soda/bottled water/beer during the day.

If you are planning of spending lots of time at the WL then it may be worth it.

I have stayed at WL concierge and I thought it was real nice. I am now addicted to concierge and can't go any other route. I have done YC, BWO and WL now going back to BWI.in November, I like to be on that level, not the rich, not the poor but a great feeling that you get extra service :D

Can you give me an idea of the cost of an upgrade to concierge at check in? We are staying at YC the end of the month. And I was wondering if it is generally the rate you would pay if you had booked it with CRO or is it discounted? I got a rate of about $100 more per night above the standard rate and I just didn't feel it was worth it for us. But, if it is discounted, well then may you can change my mind....

You can ask at check-in, if there is any availability in conceirge level and how much will it cost to upgrade. Keep in mind the room would have to be available for your length of stay or you would have to change rooms.

Your cost will vary from the time of year to the hotel.

When we stayed at the WL -- we met a couple who asked if there was any chance to upgrade. They paid 40 more per night and they only had 2 nights available. They took it just to try it out -- then the had to change rooms.

I havent done WL concierge, but I do know people who have and they loved it!! :teeth: I am sure you'll have a great time!!

I have seen people get it upgraded for free. I have seen others get upgraded at check in for like $15 more a night. I have also seen people pay full price. It all depends how busy they are at the time. It never hurts to ask about it at check-in!! :sunny:

WL concierge was our first taste of concierge service, we were given a free upgrade from a courtyard view. This was 2 months after 9/11 so the resort was pretty quiet. We loved it but I hate the balconies on the 7th floor, part of what I love at theWL is sitting on the balcony looking out to the lagoon and pool.

We got a free upgrade from a standard room to the WL concierge level water view in April.

Catheren - what were the circumstances for the free upgrade offer? We always seems to get offered an upgrade, but turn it down because of the extra cost. I am not looking for something for nothing, just curious.....

We upgraded from woodsview to concierge for 3 nights the beginning of May this year for my husband's 40th birthday. It cost us an additional $60.00 per night.
