WL Concierge??

dejr_8

Then were your kids able to see anything from the concierge balconies? I know how much they like to go out there and look around and I'd hate for them to walk out on the balcony and see nothing but walls.

I guess we've been spoiled by LV Poly and the Grotto Pool view at the Dolphin. Now the silly kids expect great room views at WDW as well!! Not just them tho, DH and I like to sit on the balcony while the kids are going to sleep and just relax in the sights.

We let our 4 year stand on a chair to look over the enclosed railing. The railing was high enough that there was no chance he could lean over and fall off (yes will still stayed by his side). Having the enclosed railing also meant that we didn't need to worry about the 1 year throwing something off the balcony.

We personally liked the enclosed balcony because it was very private and it felt like we were all alone out there (even when the family from the next room was using theirs)

This thread needs a good BUMP to get some more reviews from people that have recently stayed at WLC.

Please post pics or links to them as well! :)

OK, now my husband is getting nervous that we made a mistake booking the WL instead of the Poly (where we stayed last year), because of the transporation, cast members, etc. Has anyone stayed at both resorts on the conceirge level? I really wanted to try WL but I think I need some "ammunition" to calm my husband down. Any one have a suggestion or opinion??

sugarplumsmom,

I wouldn't worry. There was just a post today about someone who returned from the WL and Poly and they said they enjoyed the WL so much better. I believe they stayed concierge at WL but I don't know about Poly.

WL is great.

The boat transportation is nice.

I think you've made the right decision.

We enjoyed our stay at WL Concierge in October. I have heard great things and bad things about Poly but I have also heard the same regarding every resort.

Don't worry.

We were the family that stayed WLC and then moved to the Poly-not concierge. The concierge and all other cast members were so friendly at the WL and when we went to the Poly it was the total opposite. We opted to stay in our second floor room at the WL and even in doing that they(concierge) called our room every night(with weather reports and park info), they brought us a refrigerator and we had turn down every night. The cms at this resort went really out of their way to help us. My son asked a Whispering Canyon cm about the location of one hidden mickey and this person really went out of his way and walked us around the resort showing us about six different hidden mickeys. It was things like this that really made us feel comfortable and determined that this is the only place we will stay on our future trips.

My family and I have a 1 bedroom villa booked at the Wilderness Lodge for August 7 - 14. I have heard so much about concierge - I would love to upgrade to that when we get there, but it's not available on Villas. The Jr. Suite is pretty much the same pricewise as the 1 bedroom villa - does anyone know how it compares sizewise to the 1 bedroom villa (I realize you aren't getting the full kitchen and washer and dryer in the suite), but I'm thinking the "concierge" part might be worth trying the suite, that is, if you can get concierge on a suite - any experts know?

Being that most if not all of the suites are on the concierge floor, I would say that you get all the bells and whistles that concierge brings. Besides, they have to justify the cost of the suite in more ways than one! :)

Enjoy!

I thought the 1 br Jr. Suite was in fact the deluxe room? If so, they aren't on the concierge level and aren't nearly as big as a one bedroom villa

Unfortunately, the deluxe rooms aka junior suites do not come with concierge service. There are none of these on the 7th floor.

You can always ask at check in if you can have concierge access added to your room but it's not guaranteed.

The 1br villa has a king and a pull out sofa, jacuzzi tub, kitchen, washer and dryer.

The deluxe room/junior suite can sleep 6 in 2 queens and a pull out sofa.

Have fun:D

Sorry for the mis-information. I stand corrected. :)

Thanks for setting me straight! :smooth:

Hey! This is what this thread is all about, helping each other. You will see things I missed and I will see things on my next trip that I did not see the first time.

This is such a great thread! So much good info!!

I, too, was debating abt upgrading to Conc. Now, we've got a courtyard view. I believe the upgrade would be $35/night.

The b/fast would be nice. Other than that, we're not big snackers. We'd enjoy the soda & water (hopefully bottled). We have a 4.5 yo & it would be nice to be able to grab her a snack when she's hungry.

I only have 1 PS (Cindy's). My dh will not "decide" where he's going to eat before that day. So, the last minute PS would be nice. (Though, last trip, we didn't have any problems getting a table at Concource. We stayed at CR & just preferred to eat dinner in the hotel.) I'm sure this trip we'll eat dinners mainly at the WL or take the boat accross to CR. (We really liked Concource)

Oh, well, please forgive me for rambling! If there was a laundry room for Con. guests only, I'd be there in a flash!!!

Kimberle,

Just an FYI that WL Concierge doesn't put out bottled water. They have one big bottle with glasses to pour. However, you could ask for bottled water and I'm sure they'd get it for you.

Same with the milk. It's not single serve, but we asked every night for chocolate milk and they got it for us - sometimes in a big take-out cup, but they got it all the same :)

I'm looking into booking for January 2004. Now, I've gone through a well known agency advertising on these boards (!) and have been quoted a rate including tax of $273 /night for a woods view room.

I inquired about concierge level and was told a rate of $418 including tax per night.

Now, I have stayed WL Concierge in March 2003 and paid $45 plus tax upgrade per night and it was well well worth it, but I'm thinking $418 is a very high rate, particularly for January during "value " season. I was also thinking that $273 was very high for a woods view, especially as I'm reading that someone did Concierge at WL with an Annual Pass for $244 per night.

I have an Annual Pass, and while I don't assume I'll automatically get a discounted room, I would be hopeful of it. I'm now in the dilemma of whether these rates are right originally, whether I should just book woods view and inquire about an upgrade at check-in, whether I should contact WL directly and as about upgrading prior to going or whether just to book the concierge rate and hope for an Annual Pass rate in due course.

What do you think I should do from experience? Any WL cast members around???!!!!

John

Both of those rates sound way to high. For January. Rack rate on Wilderness CL is Like 350 or 325. the rate your quoting is higher than rack rate. For example with the Ap rate for December tax inclusive for AKL we are only paying 275.00 for CL. Go to Mousesavers.com and check the historical rate information.

Ok I just checked and full price on the Historical chart is $350.00 not tax inclusive. So they are charging you $68 more than rack rate? I would book through CRO and apply AAA, Then if they turn out some AP rates switch to that.
