For those of you who have stayed WL Concierge whether booking directly, asking for an upgrade at check-in, or receiving a complimentary upgrade, please give me your good, bad and ugly about Concierge.

We are going 12/5-12/13 and I am thinking of asking at check-in if there is availability to upgrade to Concierge. We currently have Courtyard view booked (standard/woods view weren't available).

Please tell me anything you can remember. Thanks!!

This post would be a great example of the search function if it were actually enabled!! I understand that it places a high load on the server during busy times though so...

Anyway, myself, my DW and DD are staying WL concierge in September and can't wait. It will be our first concierge stay so I can't comment. I would recommend that you review the FAQ posts such as this one:

It's not ALL about Wilderness Lodge concierge but there is some content.

There is also a link to the first WL FAW thread. It was a LONG one to read through! :)

Good luck!

The continental breakfast part of Concierge makes it worth the upgrade. We also enjoyed the snacks during the one day we spent at the pool. The nighttime desserts were fun to not to mention the late night cordials. I highly recommend asking for an upgrade upon check in. We paid $35 per night more for the upgrade and it was easily worth it for our family of 4. We even had our dinner there 2 nights. It doesn't have a true entree but the bufalo chilli one night and soup with HUGE shrimp another night made a fine meal with the cheese, crackers, fruit and crustless pb&j sammiches. remember that the rooms on the 7th floor concierge levelhave enclosed balconies so you have to be standing to enjoy the view. We kept our 5th floor courtyard room and just added the concierge level access to our keys. That we we still had the view and balcony we wanted but could enjoy the food options also. We asked for turndown service too and they did that even though we weren't on the 7th floor. It worked out great and I don't think it cost us any more $$ than if we had to buy breakfast and soft drinks and snacks each day. We never used the concierge for PS's.

We are scheduled to be at WL the same time and plan on asking for an upgrade to concierge at check-in ... which one of us will get there first to get the remaining room(s) ????

We upgraded to concierge our last visit in May (9 days) and it was well worth it. The payback is both monetary (savings on breakfast, water, etc) and convenience (breakfast in the room, no running to fill the mugs, etc).

In may we paid a $55 upgrade on a $124 standard room.

see ya there

what part of PA are you from. We are originally from Pittsburgh (the North Hills area)

We will be there 12/5 through 12/12. We have a courtyard view room. We are taking my mom to Disney for the first time for Christmas. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she walks through the doors for the WL. It should be great!!!:)

You will really enjoy the concierge at the WL. My wife and I went this past January and upgraded at check-in. It was WONDERFUL!!

We were in room 7062 and had a perfect view of the top of Cinderella castle, and the fireworks.

I hope you have a magical trip.

I had plan on making reservations at a concierge level at the BC. Do many places allow upgrades at checkin and are there many rooms available. We will be going in July 2004.

dejr_8..... We are North of Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township and have family throughout the North Hills and South Hills. Are you planning a trip soon??

My wife is from Cranberry and her parents still live there. Our planned trips are 10/18 - 10/25 and 12/5-12/13...

From what I have read on the boards, WL seems to be the only hotel that has/provides upgrades to concierge at checkin. If you want concierge at BC I would book it.

I asked last year for upgrade at AKL and kicking myself I didn't do it. Doesn't hurt to aks but if you really want it and don't want disappointment I would book it right from the get go. have a FUNtastic trip no matter what you decide :D

I like the idea of asking for Concierge access but keeping a "regular" room. Since you can't sit on the balconies on the Concierge level and see anything, I may try that.

I personally think you are giving up alot of convenience by not staying on the concierge floor just to be able to sit and look out the balcony.

just my two cents worth

I guess that is probably true; and I'm not dead set on doing that yet. However, we just spent a week at Myrtle Beach and I know how much time my kids spent on the balcony looking around. I remember them doing the same thing the last time we stayed at The Dolphin and Poly.

If the balconies on concierge are walled, then my little kids (7,5 and 1) won't be able to see much.

DH, DD and I stayed at WL in May. We had a woodsview room booked and had asked to be overlooking the otter pond and have bunk beds. When we checked in we got the room we wanted and I also asked about concierge upgrade. The upgrade was available but the room type we wanted wasn't. We opted to stay in our assigned room and get access to the 7th floor. We didn't have any problem not being on the concierge floor and we got turndown service every night.

The food selection was very good and we made dinner out of it a few nights. It was definitely worth the extra $45 per night :)

dejr_8...maybe we'll see you there- we'll be in WDW 10/16-10/25 and don't know whether to stay at the WL or the Poly. We have reservations for WL Conceirge right now....

Unfortunately we are not staying at WL in Oct. It is a budget trip so we are currently booked at ASMo and will probably stay off site if AP rates don't come out.

Our kids match up pretty good in ages. One DS is 4 1/2 the other is 1 1/2.
