Help please...We are planning a family vacation in December and want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge. My DS (16 years old) and DD (12 years old) are at the age where they refuse to sleep in the same bed. Will my 6ft 2 inch- 195 lb son fit in a bunk bed or is it best just to get 2 queens and have someone sleep on the floor??

Thanks

The bunkbeds are basically two twin beds stacked on top of each other. There is wood all the way around the edges of the top bunk and the head and foot of the bottom bunk. If your son can be comfortable in a twin bed he can be comfortable in the bottom bunk...but 6' 2" is pretty tall for a twin...

It would probably be prudent to just bring along one of those 'insta-flate' kind of inflatable matresses 'just in case'...

The bunk bed rooms have a bit more floor space than the 2 queen rooms so they would be a better choice for the 'sleep on the floor' option.

I know what you mean about the sleeping together anymore thing. That is one of the big reasons we choose to stay at the WL. Now the only sqabble is who gets the top!

If the dimensions are what you are after, why not give the WL a call? The omniscent Disney people must know.

Cyride~the bunkbeds are big enough...IMOP. My 5 yo DD wanted to sleep with me one night on our vacation (I think Honey I shrunk the kids scared her) anyway, my husband, who is about 6'4" ended up sleeping in her bed. From the sound of the snoring coming out of him, I will assume he slept well. I did ask him the next morning and he said the bed was actually comfortable. Just and FYI.
BTW...We loved the WL so much we ended up purchasing DVC. It is a wonderful place and the people that work there made our memorable.:D

Last time we were at WL, our daughter and son in law had a room that had the bunk beds. In the afternoons my son in law would take a nap on one of the bunks while our daughter would spread stuff out on the bed they slept in. He is about 250 pounds and over six feet tall. He said he napped quite comfortably.

We had the same problem last year. At that time my sons were 16 and 13. At our other hotels, sharing a queen bed, they fought in their sleep every single night. We finally had peace & quiet at AKL with those wonderful bunks. My older son was 5'10" and 132lbs and he slept comfortably. They seemed much sturdier than the bunks we had at our house when the kids were small. My boys just cannot share a bed - they fuss all evening long. We just recently got back from a night in Orlando and I pricelined them their own separate hotel room. Peace & quiet!
