I read that the boat to the Magic Kingdom from WL leaves every 20 minutes. Does that get super-congested in the mornings -- are there just a ton of people waiting on the dock?

I've never seen a huge crowd there. The boat is pretty big, though, and can hold a good number of people.

I have never seen a crowd in the morning, but at night, just after Wishes, I have seen a huge crowd trying to get back. I have been on one of the bigger ferrys that took us to FW first then to WL.

No, we just returned today and never had a wait in the morning or any other time if the day, we loved the boat system over any other of the transportation. Alway effecient, heather

Ferry boats run only between the TTC and the MK. They do NOT run from the MK to the FWC and the WL.

So sorry but in fact they have brought the ferry over to Wilderness Lodge, (I am awear of which craft is a Ferry) from TTC several times during peak times...once during the holidays when the line at the dock was 5 wide all the way back to the shoreline and beyond the guest were waiting to attend MVMCP. They had the larger Green Flag boats transporting just Ft. Wilderness Campground guest, while the ferry pulled up at the very end of the dock and loaded the entire crowd in one trip. It was like having the Magic pull up...everyone cheered

You are correct, however, this is NOT a normal occurrence and rarely happens and should not be construed as such.

While not a regular occurance it does happen. I rode a ferry boat from FW to MK one night to get to MNSSHP last year. It is very cool to see the ferry pull up to the dock at a resort. I guess it happens enough to justify keeping the needed ramp at the FW dock.

You'll also find the portable ramps on every other dock for the resorts on Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon. When the Gen. Joe Potter (ferry boat) was used for charters, although very infrequently, these ramps were used.

We love WL and are always there in somewhat 'less busy' times of the year (Sept, May, Nov). It's not unusual to have to wait for a second boat to get to the MK in the AM if trying to get there around the time of park opening or the first hour after opening. But it also seems like the boats are running a little more frequently than every 20 minutes.

Another option is to catch the little boat to GF and then walk to MK ..... at least I'm not just sitting on the dock twiddling my thumbs.

Yes, but most of the docks have been redone since charter cruises were done.
Are you sure it wasn't the paddle wheel Southern Seas you were reffering to, I don't remember the Kingdom Queen(two stacks, MK1 and MK2 had one stack) being used for charter(doesn't mean it wasn't, after all memories fade)

I think you ment CR not GF. The ride to CR is nice and so is the walk to MK.

The morning boats don't seem to get as full as the boats that return at night when closing is approaching. I am not sure what the OP was referrering to about the boat NOT returning at night, but it does, just expect larger crowds returning to FW and WL at night trying to catch the boats.

i wasn't a huge fan of the boat, it was fun the 1st time, but afterwards we just used the bus to mk, its only a 5 minute ride!

I thought the boat did take you to/from WL! I thought that was a reason to stay there! Does WL have a direct bus to the MK???:confused3

Don't worry. There are boats that take you from WL to MK and CR. We were there in early January and the boats were great. The only time we had to wait was the Early Magic Hours morning at MK. We took the boat to CR (no line for that one)and just walked next door to the MK. This was the first time I had stayed in a non-monorail resort and I was pleasantly surprised by the convenience of the boats.

Our favorite part of our stay at the WL was the boat! Our son loved it, and it was always on time and a comfortable ride, too. Much better than the bus, in my opinion.:thumbsup2

I've seen as many as 20-25 people on the WL dock in the mornings at times. Sometimes, we've been the only family waiting.

However, the boats they use from WL to MK are a bit bigger than the boats from GF and Poly to MK, so 20-25 people can easily get on the WL boats, with everyone having a seat usually.
