WL and value season

I've found conflicting information on different site about when value season starts for WL. On the official WDW site, it says 7/4 through 10/1, but on other sites it says it starts 8/24. Since I'll be arriving on 8/23, I was wondering if anyone knows for sure when it is. I have yet to make my reservation and it will depend on the answer.

The dates I have for Value Season are 7/4 to 10/01/03.

Good tip on the bellman....we are going value season as well, less crowds, better prices. Can't beat that!
