We are currently planning a trip for December 10-17, 2005 for me, DH and 10-month old twin DD's. I guess I am looking for some suggestions on what to do for a room/rooms. Does anyone think it would be worth the extra money to get either a 2nd room or a deluxe room (aka junior suite), so that when the infants are sleeping, we can be in the other room? Also, with 2 pack n plays in one room, I would think it might get pretty cramped.

Any thoughts or experiences you would like to share would be wonderful! :earsboy:

You are looking at major bucks, and if money is no option, then go for it but they are harder to find as there are fewer of them available. You will also have your balcony to sit on as well. I would see if you could get a room with a king bed or switch to a monorail resort which would be a LOT more convenient for you with kids your age. The boat is nice but it can take a while.

I would try either CR or Poly.

Welcome to the DIS.

You might look into the Wilderness Cabins at Ft. Wilderness. There you would have another bedroom as well as a sitting area, kitchen, etc.. It would probably even be cheaper than 2 rooms at WL.

If you do seperate rooms at a value(or any resort) I do not think you are garanteed connecting rooms.

A 1 bedroom villas at DVC resorts would probably be the best option starting @ around $350 per night.
1 bedroom suites at Deluxe resorts will run almost double that, but include Concierge Service.

Nevermind I just read the post above, FW will be a great deal.

Ft. Wilderness seems a bit much since they would be there during Winter and she would have to transport two babies out to the Bus stop possably in the cold. The deluxe rooms are great, but for a little less money you could book a one-bedroom over at the Villas and have a full kitchen and washer/dryer which with two babies would come in handy.

Deluxe Room Value Season $400.00 a night
1-Bedroom Villa Value Season $390.00 a night

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I have a couple more questions based upon your replies...

Can I book a WL villa through Disney or do I have to go through a DVC member? I think I've seen info on renting points floating around here. I'd rather not have to "monkey" around with renting points if I don't have to.

Also, do you think we would miss out on the theming of the WL by staying in a villa? I've only stayed in the lodge on previous visits.

We might consider staying at the Contemporary. My parents will also be going, and they are thinking about staying there (my dad has always wanted to stay in a tower room - he just thinks it is the neatest thing to have the monorail going right through the hotel - he's like a little kid when it comes to Disney!). If we stay there, maybe we could make a request to get joining rooms, but if I understand correctly, it wouldn't be guaranteed, since there is more than one adult in our party.

Thanks so much for your help! We are looking forward to a whole new experience at WDW with our daughters. And, we are of course planning to take it at their pace! (No more comando WDW!)

Do Deluxe rooms have separate room or just a sitting area?

Making reservations through CRO (Disney) is probably the only way you could get a one-bedrrom now. As a DVC owner at VWL I can tell you that the VWL are all booked early by DVC members for December. (Disney also has ownership of a % of the Villas that they rent through CRO)

The theming over at the Villas is just a step up from the Lodge (without the vast Lobby) but I love them both.

Hope you have a great trip, wherever you decide to stay.

The bedroom area and setting area is separated by french doors. Will post a room diagram.

DELUXE-TWO QUEEN BEDS & ONE SOFA BED (sleeps 6) The Deluxe Guest Room has a sitting area separated from the bedroom by french doors, additional television, refrigerator with ice machine, coffeemaker, and wet bar.

I agree if you have your heart set on WL that you should consider the villas at WL. I can tell you from experience (we stayed at AKL when our twins were 7 months old!) that it's very crowded in the standard rooms at those 2 resorts with the twin babies and also the adults. I have heard that WL is stunning at Christmas time.

However, if you do decide on the Contemporary, I can also tell you from experience (we stayed there when our twins were 13 months old!) that it was extremely convenient and relaxing when we stayed there. It is not as "beautiful" as WL resort, but you can certainly relax more as you can walk back and forth to MK (5-10 minute walk) and you also have the monorail for MK and Epcot. I imagine you are taking a double stroller? You can just roll it right on the monorail with no problem. It's so nice when your babies can fall asleep in the stroller and you can just roll it right on the monorail without waking them up. Also, we found it easy to watch Wishes at night because we knew we were just a walk away from our resort. We truly find Contemporary a great resort because of the magical feeling of being next door to MK.

Good luck in your decision and enjoy those twins! The best thing we ever did was start taking them to WDW at a young age. They have been 4 times now and their 5th trip will be this fall. They are now 2 yrs old. Enjoy!!

We were at WL a couple weeks ago. We had standard rooms and they put us over WC Cafe. At first I was a little upset with the room location. We had two rooms and paid rack rates. But let me tell you, it was great. There was a nice area outside of the rooms that had a table and six chairs. I got up early and got breakfast and read the paper while everyone slept. We even let our 3 year old dd nad 9 mon. old ds nap while we sat out in our "own" area. we simply rigged the door with the slip lock so we could here them if they cried. We said to ourselves it was like having a suite for standard prices. There are a lot of areas like this in the WL, just ask. I think we had rooms 4089 and 4090. The WL was even at full capacity.

Thanks everyone for your great replies! I'm thinking we will probably either go with a 1 bedroom villa at WLV or try out the Contemporary.

Oldironsides - Did you feel that a room at the Contemporary allowed ample room for you and your twins? Our twins are now 5 months old, and I definately feel like their gear is taking over our lives - I can only imagine what it will be like in a hotel room! (Actually we will probably only need room for 2 pack n plays.)

We will be bringing a small double stoller (umbrella-fold style). It does sound like it would be convienent to stay at the CR - we will definately consider!

Thanks again for everyone's help!

With a one bedroom in the VWL, you would also have a WASHER AND DRYER in your villa. With 10 month old twins, that would be a great help. You'd have the king sized bed in the bedroom and the queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room.

Like MAGICinMYHEART said, you probably couldn't get anything by renting through a member, but might have a chance with a direct rental through CRO. You'd also get a full cleaning everyday through CRO.

You'd get one pack and play, but they might get you another. Full galley style kitchen. Two TVs, one with DVD or VCP(player, not recorder). And delightfully peaceful.

Yes, the rooms at Contemporary (CR) are definitely large enough to comfortably fit everything and everyone! The standard rooms at CR are among the largest standard rooms, if not THE largest, at WDW. We also enjoyed the small round pool at CR which was in a beautiful setting on the lake. Also, Chef Mickey's was very fun at CR and we loved being able to have such nice meals right at our resort and then just walk over to MK. It made our lives much easier!

Incidentally, we have taken our twin babies to WDW 4 times so far and we have always received 2 pack'n plays at the resort with no problem.
