Wk of Nov 5--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Morning all!

Cam-- :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I have an announcement to make.....

I AM doing the Goofy in January!

I know, y'all are like :confused3 I'll be honest-- for the past couple of weeks, I've been wondering if I will be able to. We are getting into the busiest time of year for me at work-- football playoffs and all the other sports in post-season means a ton of work and travel. Being so undertrained at this point, I was seriously thinking about putting this off for a year.

But I woke up this morning and decided that I'm going to get this thing done. I've got airfare, a rental car, an AP rate at the Poly and 9 weeks to get myself up to snuff.

That said, I will have to be extremely flexible with my training plan from here on out. This week should be no problem, but I might be travelling to Pensacola next weekend, which complicates matters. Beyond that, I'll figure it out as it comes. I've got to be smart enough to plan ahead and make sure that I get my LRs in early if I have to, just to be safe.

OK, that's enough of my personal morale boost for now.
I'll catch up with everyone later, I promise.
Happy training all!
Kevin :earsboy:

YAY, Kevin!!!! :goofy: :dancer:

Sometimes just saying it out loud helps us to re-focus and re-commit. Good for you! Can't wait to see your medals!

Cam - :grouphug: Your story just made me bawl. I am so happy that you guys got to see him again and get to make sure he knows how much you love him, and also that he was stable enough to tell you how much you guys mean to him. Ok, bawling again! :sad1:

Judy - I can't believe that they would actually let that woman have her back. I am praying for a miracle for you guys. :grouphug:

Dana

Hi everyone! :sunny:

Angie - great job in your race. Your report brought tears to my eyes.

Cam - :grouphug:

I'm trying a new strategy with my training: I don't work on speed with EVERY walk. (Yes, I used to.) So far, my swift/deliberate/but comfortable pace is only :30 slower than my fast-as-I-can pace. (13:35 v. 13:05) Doing it this way I feel more enthusiastic about starting my walk and better (in general) afterward. As far as I'm concered, my new "slow" pace is good enough in this weather. Plus, with all the hills on my routes, I'm not scared of pooping out on WDW's flat course. So that's that.

Until next week -

Drive by:

Kevin - Yay! You sure you don't want me to send :wizard: for them to lose so you can train? ;) Yes, I am kidding.

Judy - :wizard: for Mist. As for amphiod, they can be a little hard. Leave a little air gap when filling and just smoosh teh bottle to get it out. That works for us.

Cam - Glad you had some quality time with FIL. :wizard: :grouphug: So sorry about your 2120s! That's exactly what happened with my Kinseis. I did 30 min on TM Sat and they were fine for my 9 miles with Heather. :confused3 Life woudl eb eaier if all our feet were shaped the same!

monte - :guilty: I shoudl see you in 08, though.

Matt - So sorry about the shin splints!

Kristi - It usually takes a while for me to get those second toe hurts, but once I do, it takes less and less for them to come back. :wizard:

Jen - Great job getting your workout in!

Cam and Howard- :grouphug: :grouphug: More :wizard: that DFIL is not in pain. I know your visit meant the world to him.

Judy- Still praying for the best with Mist.

Today is a rest day for me. Have a great Monday everyone!

Kevin, I really needed to hear that. My 12 miler on Saturday was a nightmere. It was terribly painful, totally lacking in all enjoyment and the rest of the day was so painful that I avoided my family and laid on my bed all day. I decided I wasn't going in January :sad2:

Then Sunday I went to the Y and did weights and high-intensity elliptical and felt great. I felt great for the rest of the day. Today I did high-intensity elliptical again and still feel great... So I'm still planning on going. I'll just have to see how this week's 16miler treats me.

Jen and Kristi-- great race pics! I always love pics on the thread :cloud9:

Howard and Cam-- :grouphug: my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Judy-- I'm so sorry your still in this battle over Mist, here's :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for you both.

Oh I really did it this time. You know how I complain that my office is way too cold? Well, I finally had enough and snuck in a "tiny" space heater. I plugged it in and my computer went black. Oops, so I unplugged it and tried to restart my computer. No go. Now feeling very desparate, I decided to try another outlet near by. Phew, my computer came back up and I thought I was safe. My two office mates were deep in conversation with a third party while all of this went on. I snuck my heater back in my lunch bag (that's how tiny it is) and thought I had gotten away with a really big "oops".

No such luck. They ended their meeting and both realized their computers were dead. Oh uh. Fortunately, an electrician just so happened to be walking down the hall... I don't know if it was coincidence or if he had seen a spike on the grid. He got the power back on in minutes and all seemed well. I went to a meeting and when I got back found technicians huddled around one of my office mate's computer. It won't reboot :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared: :faint:  She's been working around the clock on a major deadline and now she's dead in the water. I couldn't stay silent, I had to 'fess up that it was my fault and apologize. She said it was ok but left the office and I haven't seen her since. I've been begging the techs, whiz kids and IT Gurus to please, please, please make her pc all better ASAP.

I feel absolutely horrible. I can't believe my little plot to to be frozen caused such calamity. We have lasers and radar and mega power instruments all over this building... I never dreamed my little space heater could bring the lab down. :rolleyes1

Sunny

Sunny - it doesn't sound like your place was wired very well if that could even cause those computers to die like that! Sounds like the crack team that wires my workplace... I freeze too - so it must be the same people!

And by the way, Sunny...you are going in January!! I'll come find you & throw you in our minivan on our way through to Florida! :rotfl:

Judy
- more :wizard: for a miracle for Mist!

Kevin - glad to hear you recommitted yourself to Goofy!

Did anyone see the Today Show this morning? Someone in the crowd (well alot of them) had run the NYC marathon yesterday. One woman held up a sign that said "Toenails are for WIMPS!" :lmao: I think that is my new mantra or something!

Sunny - We can't have space heaters either because it brings down 1/2 of the office. Contrary to belief, those little buggers needs lots of power. I did the same thing you did and was screamed at for it. The circuits overloaded. Now I just freeze!!!!

I am glad you aren't giving up. Go GOOFY!

Thanks guys! I knew you would get my head back in the game. Today was an off day for me so I've been able to get alot done (still have alot left to do, though) I am heading straight to the gym after dropping the kids off at school in the a.m. See, if I have a plan then its easier to stick to.

Cam- I dont think I ever told you that I went back & bought that pic of us on Space Mtn. I'll get DH to scan it for me & I'll email it to you.

I forgot who asked about the Illuminations party. We are having a dessert party on Sunday night where we get our own area, dessert & see Illuminations. PM Rhonda for info (akasleepingbeauty) she's coordinating it.

Judy- :wizard: for Mist. I cant believe they are going to give her back to that evil person :furious:

That's the way to go, Tiff! I am so glad you are going to the gym tomorrow. Oh, and won't it be nice to be carrying less weight after your awesome loss this week?!!!! :woohoo: Thanks in advance for the picture -- what fun! Now we definitely need to get one from WDW!

Fortunately, my office mate's pc is up and running :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

I heard her say to someone she is backing up some data at which I blurted out, "tomorrow I'm brining in a hair dryer" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Tiff-- glad you're back in the game! After you scan that pic, make sure to post it for all of us to enjoy, too :goodvibes

Whooo hoooo... I'm getting a medal, I'm getting a medal.

I got an email back from the race coordinator. They missed marking my name that I wasn't at the award ceremony, so she is glad I emailed. Also, she was on vacation part of last week. She told me to stop in and pick it up. YAHHH... I now have 2 medals to my name!!! I still carry my Rump Roast medal in my purse.

It's all about the bling!

Sunny -- I am sooo relieved for you -- and your co-worker! Thank God!

Jen -- Congrats, sweetie! Yep, it's all about the bling! My DL medal is actually my "anchor" for weight watchers. :rotfl: When your purse gets so heavy you are getting a backache, you'll have to find a backpack to carry all your bling in! :teeth:

Did 60 min on the elyptical tonight instead of the TM. Ugh! My legs are now jelly. I don't know how everyone who does teh TM and teh elyptical do it. Everything seems s much longer! Just remind me of that when I whine about winter. ;)

1. I am back from WDW - was great!

2. Did my LR of 18.5 miles in 2:40....dressed too warm!

3. Bree had her baby! See Baby Pics! Baby and mom are doing wonderful and went home today!

That is all I have time for! My life is crazy!

Thanks for the great news Christa! Congratulations Bree! Lucas is so handsome. I love the pictures! Ron is such a proud grandfather. We will miss Bree at Disney this year, but what a gift from God!

I found some good quotes about the marathon on stuff at cafepress.com today. I thought I would share:

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift"

"I know I run like a girl, try to keep up"

"Why run faster when you can follow this a@#?!"

"While running, it is rude to count the people you pass out loud"

"I'm the fast woman your mother warned you about"

"Pass the weak, hurdle the dead"

"I hit the wall and the wall lost"

"Mile 20- I thought I was dead, Mile 22- I wished I was dead, Mile 24- I knew I was dead, Mile 26.2- I knew I had become too tough to kill"

:rotfl: Thanks Heather!

Thanks fro HSaring CHrista. Congrats on teh 18.5 and welocme back!

Congrats to Bree and Greg. Lucas is adorable! I'll bet they are on :cloud9:

Kevin - Glad you're going Goofy. It's such as great feeling!

Judy
- Hard to believe they would even consider sending Mist back. Have they seen before and after pictures?

Cam - Glad you were able to spend time with FIL. Sening :wizard: and :grouphug: to you, Howard and your family.

Monte - Sorry you had to postpone your race. But I think I'll join you and be there in 2008.

Jen - Sorry, but I think I was the laziest runner last week. :guilty:

I've been having serious trouble sticking to a regular training routine. Lack of motivation is part, but I just haven't been feeling "right". Didn't know why, but think I've figured it out. I have a sneaky feeling that I have an inner ear infection. :sad2: unfortunately, I've been prone to these since I was a kid. I have a periodic feeling that my ears are clogged. Kinda the feeling you get when on a plane, except that I haven't flown anywhere lately. Also every now and then an ever so slight feeling of being off-balance. I called my ENT doc and scheduled an appointment. Earliest I could get was 2 weeks!
I think I may just try to cross train indoors until i get this straightened out. In the past when I've had ear infections, they didn't want cold air getting into the ear. This is so frustrating.

ETA: Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Just call me # 34350 for the 1/2 and 13461 for the full! I got my packet! I got my packet! :cool1: :cool1:
