Wk of May 14--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Cam - I really enjoyed your pictures! I really do think you look like Susan Lucci! :teeth: What fun you guys must have had. I am positively green with envy! Thank you so much for posting those pics!

OK, I feel like a goober because today is my birthday and I kind of forgot. I mean, I knew it was my birthday but it really never registered. Does this mean I am getting old?? So it is raining AGAIN today, I think it has for 2 weeks straight. Also we had work trama which got me all in knots and now I am home nursing my sick 5 1/2 year old. She has a fever and cough. So I don't think running is in the books for me today. We are going to try to go to dinner tonight for my day and I just don't feel like hitting the treadmill tonight. SHOOOT... now I need new Pixie Dust!!!

Bummer Jen!!! :wizard: that you rb-day has a happy ending!

Great pictorial Cam! Loved seeing pics of my Home resort too! ;)

Hi all!!

Wow, I am so happy life is sane again. So much to catch up on....

Mel-- Sounds like a great bridge plan between the Minnie and Half. I am the same way about running... totally unable to get out the door without a plan.

Lynne-- Awesome time... Congrats!! :cool1:

Goofyguy-- I hope things work out for you.

Kristi-- If you are still on that weight plateau with all the exersice, maybe your body is trying to tell you something. Perhaps it just really likes that weight. I might check with your doctor to see how important those 8 lbs are for you to lose. Either way, congrats on your success so far!

Lynnda-- Woo hoo!! Congrats to you on your triathlon!!

Sunny-- Rest, rest, rest, rest, rest!!!!! Pnemonia is nothing to play around with. get better soon!!

Judy-- I don't know about your butt muscles, but the incline will make your workouts tougher and that will, over time, lessen that jiggle. :teeth: You got an email from the WDW Marathon people?!!? I didn't get an email?!? :confused3 Now I'm worried....

Cam-- FANTASTIC report!

As for me, Sunday I did get out and run a bit. Not for long, no Garmin and it felt slow... but I did something. Today I started a new crosstraining program that a personal trainer friend of mine developed. The goal is to get me in the rest possible shape before I start my Goofy training. It was a very intense first day, but I made it through, which is a great feeling. Doing this program I will still be running 4X a week, but with more weightlifting and cardio crosstraining intervals.

Well, back to work for me!

Hey Everyone -

Official time was posted for the 5k on Saturday and I actually did a little bit better than previously posted. Official time 30.18 minutes (9.47 min/mile pace). :thumbsup2

Jodi

Hi WISH Team!

Carrie, Yay! for new shoes. You did a marvelous post.

Lynne, that was a great time. I can’t even imagine it.

Mike, PD for you. Hope all is going to be ok.

Kristi, hope you get that plateau figured out. You have done an amazing job.

Lynnda-- Woo hoo!! You ARE an athlete! :worship:

Sunny, please take it easy and do as required. I know it may seem quite difficult to be the obedient patient now, but please be a good girl and do as you are told. We want you healthy soon.
Judy, Yay for figuring out your jiggle! Keep on keepin’ on. The rest should tighten.

Cam, I loved reading your report. Thanks and great pics!

Kevin, great idea about the XT program. You are lucky to have a personal trainer friend to help.

Nancy, good news that you’ve got DH hooked. I am glad for that. I hope it makes it easier for you. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone to work with.

Pat, that is great news about getting the time for the full. It will be such fun training now.

I did a really stupid thing. I did a bit more on Saturday than I guess I was ready to handle and woke up a bit leg sore Sunday. Not too bad, but I forgot that I had to prep Sunday for colonoscopy procedure I was having today (Monday). Ouch! Running to the bathroom then getting up and down so many times while my legs were hurting was really a picture. Procedure has me kinda tired and dehydrated, so I’m laying low tonight. Have a different procedure scheduled on our return from vaca. (endoscopy) It still seems that I am not easy to figure out.

We leave Saturday for Cancun and return the following Saturday. I will definitely be doing lots of trekking in the sand.

Cam-- great photos! Thanks so much for sharing.

Jodi-- your 5K time is awsome! I remember when you were'nt sure if you could be a runner! You are a runner, girl!

I've been quite busy on the shirt thread. Here's a generic WISH logo shirt that could work for multiple events. We could then use the back for specifics. I have some back ideas over there, too, but I'm not completely happy with them.

Pat noticed I have the runners running in the opposite direction this year :rotfl2: I wonder what that means? :rotfl: I get them turned around. In the mean time, here's the most popular design so far. (We will probably put the feather on the back to keep the front bold and easy to spot from miles away ;) )

Pay no attention to my lack of ability to draw a decent shirt:

Freudian slip Kevin? ;) Isn't that what you've been working on. :p Sorry, couldn't resist, even though I'm the last person in the world who should comment on a typo.

Yes, that is what I've been working on now for, oh.... 27 years or so. ;)

I'm going to blame that typo on post-workout endorphin intoxication. :teeth:

Hey Kevin, I didn't know you were doing Goofy this year! Way a go, you will do great!

Jodi, good job on your 5K, you are hooked now!

Pat, that is awesome you were able to get time off for the marathon, now it is time to start planning! :teeth:

Carrie, I am envious of your new shoes. I really want to try a new pair. I guess I just need to go into our running store and find out whats there for me. :bounce:

Lynne, you are awesome! I am in awe over how much you juggle in your day to day goings on.

Lynnda, awesome work on the tri!

Sunny, hope you feel better. If your body wants to sleep 18 hours, let it, it needs to recover!

Sara, where are you staying for this year marathon? Did I read correctly that you are bringing the kids? Are you just doing the full this year?

Hey MelR, :hippie: Hope everything is going well with you!

Off to do some speed work this morning. Yesterday I got back into my weight training in the gym. I felt great all day. I feel good this morning too! Can't wait to get out there to run.

Have a great day everyone, Colleen

I’m Back :sad1: Thankfully I have a ticker for July though :lmao:

Cam – I faced the Yeti!!!!!!!!! I’ll be writing a trip report as soon as I get a chance but I wanted to let you know that you helped me get past my fear to give it a try. Thank you!

I realized on this trip just how out of shape I am. Last year when I was wogging nightly I was in great shape for the trip, this one I was so out of shape that I hurt each morning and sitting here today – ouch. I am determined to use the next 7 weeks (I’m going back to WDW in July) to get back into wogging.

I'll try to catch up with everyone later.

Greetings all, on a VERY raining morning....

I talk to much, don't I? I blab on and on on these threads. I realized that yesterday. You guys should shut me up once in a while. :tilt:

Did my 50 min on the TM this morning, 45 of those at 3.8 and 5 running at 4.5, all @ 1%. I'm going to keep adding a few minutes here and there to the running. OK, it's probably really wogging. Plus I think I'll add some incline intervals for the "jiggles".

Jen - Ohh, a belated Happy Birthday! :bday:

Kevin - Ohh, I'm glad things are a little saner for you now. Thanks for the advice, I think I will up the incline a bit. And yes, I did get an email. I'll send it to you if you feel left out. :goodvibes I commented on this before but I just wanted to mention again that I noticed you are going on the Magic right before the marathon. I'm extremely jealous! :teeth:

Jodi - Yay on the official time! :thumbsup2

Lily - Ohh I don't know if I should be sending you :grouphug: or  ! I'm sorry to hear about all the tests, but get them over with and figure out whats going on. Have a fabulous time in Cancun! I fully expect pictures and a OT Trip Report!

Sunny - You have a wonderful ability to draw a shirt! I don't know what you're talking about. I LIKE this design very much! :thumbsup2 I hope you're feeling better. You're supposed to be resting you know.

Carrie - Ha ha ha - I didn't even notice that! Good catch! :lmao:

Minnie - Welcome back! I think walking around WDW is a pretty good stress test, don't you? I realize how out of shape I am every time I go. However......this September will be different!

Don't force me to commit to a hotel when I haven't even registered for the marathon yet!! :rotfl2: Yes, I am merely doing the full so DH can run the half and we can bring the kids. It just wasn't the same without them there to cheer us on. I am 99% sure we'll be at POFQ because of the proximity to the start and the probability of our WISH meet being at the food court. The dragon slide will also be a selling point with our youngest, as the kids are pulling hard for Pop Century. I swear I am going to send in my marathon registrations before June :confused3 . Are you planning on going Goofy?!!

Judy, No! keep it up. You do a great job and I love reading your posts. :sunny: You could also add Pilates or Yoga that would also help to tone some jigglies.

Minnie, hope that you will be doing well with the walking. Glad you figured out that you really need it, if that doesn't work for you what about stationary bicycle or swimming. It would improve that cardio with less skeletal stress.

Colleen, yay for adding the weight training. I need to do that too. Our running group advisor doc recommended that runners do that at least once per week. Not much more would be required during the event training phase. I'm sure the pre-event training it would be ok to add an extra day or so.

Sunny, I get the drawing. So I'd say you can do it fantastically!

Greetings TEAM! I'm back. I was out of town this past weekend visiting my parents in Delaware. It was a good trip, but a tiring one. Some of you may remember that my mother's health is not so great right now, and I've been trying hard to get down to see her since March. Anyhow, I am swamped trying to get back on track with work here right now. Plus, I came home to DD8 princess: with a case of the chicken pox!!! DW is going out of town on Thursday, I have my first 10K on Sunday, and then I need to go out of town Sunday evening. I'm sure DD5 princess: will also come down with chicken pox somewhere in there too, right? Whew, when it rains it pours.

I did manage to get 2 runs in this weekend. A 3 mile run on Saturday at 10 mpm pace and a 6 mile long run on Sunday at 10:30 mpm pace. My 6 miler was a really nice run from my parents house to the boardwalk at Bethany Beach (3 miles) and back. I discovered one thing I like about running in Delaware - it's flat, flat, flat!!!

OK, I need to go now. I'll post more later.

Ohhh, I hope it never comes to that!

Colleen-- Yeah, after finishing the full I came down with a serious case of "medal envy." Heck, before the race I had a case of medal envy. Guess I really am :goofy:

Judy-- I looked and it seems that last year I got my first email about the race in June. The only email I didn't get were the one's about the Minnie, since I'm a ::MickeyMo and not so much a ::MinnieMo so as long as there is nothing vital in it, no need to send it along. Thanks for the offer though, it's much apprecaited. :) (Though I will admit to doublechecknig to make sure I was registered online....)

As for the Magic trip, that's actually not until 12/07, so well, well after next year's race. More likely I will spend the days leading up to the marathon doing my training runs through snow drifts here in Michigan (again....)

Kevin
