Wk of Mar 25--WISH Walking/Running Club

All of these water horror stories make me glad our house was built in 2003! It makes me even more glad to have 2 cousins who are plumbers!!

Sunny-- Can't you catch a break?

Judy--    I am sorry the knee prognosis wasn't great. I know you really want to run Minnie, but you gotta put your health and your body first. There will always be another 15K, another half marathon, etc. Right now your first priority is your knee. But I am so sorry for you, I know how your heart must be breaking.   Look on the bright side, at least you get to spend more time with Dr. Hunka Hunka Burning Love. ;)

Oh no Judy!!! That's terrible - be sure to take care of that knee, Minnie or no. Fingers crossed for you.

Sunny - that all sounds terrible. I really hope you start feeling better soon. It still amazes me that you get your runs in. I'd be more likely to curl up and not want to do anything.

PD for you both.:wizard:

Judy: sorry about your knee ailment........now when do we get to see a photo of Dr. HHBL? :rotfl:

Sunny-- Can't you catch a break?

Judy-- ...Look on the bright side, at least you get to spend more time with Dr. Hunka Hunka Burning Love. ;)
Sunny & Judy - I was going to say the same exact thing to both of you!
Tons of :wizard: and lots of  coming both of your ways.

Sunny--Oh no--I sure hope you get better soon.

Judy--Oh no as well! I have to second what Krista said, though. There will be other races, but only one of you! Please don't overdo it and cause more damage.

Melissa--Great job on the race. I was all ready to post on the race tracker board--and noticed that you guys had already finished--So much for my WTG!! Can't wait to read a race report. That's amazing!

Krista--I always plan our meals out a week in advance--that way I know from day to day what I'm going to be making. Let us know how you like the crockpot

Well, I got 3 miles in and some strength training this am. Going to the running clinic tonight, but no running for me as I will be pushing the kiddos again. I'm going to be walking with a friend of mine who, I think, needs some workout support. She has been relatively inactive since she got married and really wants to get healthy again. Her husband is a tri-athlete so she's intimidated working out with him. She just needs that support to get out and lace up--just like ya'll have done for me! Well, need to finish up dinner prep and play with some wound up kids!

No training to report on for me today, I have a hockey game tonight so I didn't run today.

Kristi--You must have some crazy friends! We won't spend that bail fund yet!!
Leana--nice job on your run yesterday! Isn't it great when you can get outside in some warmer weather! Hopefully it sticks around now.
Angie--only 7 miles!! I was just thinking the yesterday how long 7 was going to feel! :rotfl2: Maybe after I finish my half and full marathon I will be able to say "only 7 miles" I hope so! And you had a great pace!
Jen--don't worry about your run, we are all entitled to a slower than normal pace once in awhile.
Kristin--glad to hear all is well with you and you are safe and sound!
Dave--hope you are feeling better, hopefully the rest days will help. :wizard:
Bill--sounds like you had a busy rest day--those trips up and down to the attic are definetely XT!!
Kelley--nice job on your LW! Great pace!!
Christa--can you come to my house and cook!!! I wish I was that organized, but sounds like you have an awesome plan, I think I should try what you are doing.
Judy--oh no, Sorry to hear about your knee. :wizard: :wizard: Please take care of yourself, your health should come first.
Sunny--Hang in there. i hope you are feeling better soon. :wizard:

Sorry to those I missed. It is so hard to keep up sometimes!!

You mean y'all don't see gators and snakes on every run :confused3
I've actually seen more gators than snakes. There was a 4 foot gator on my way home from work today. Most of the snakes I see have treadmarks ;)

40 min today...3.47 for an 11:30 pace. No sub-11s this time, but my pace was consistent with Sat LR.

Mike...:lmao: I'm impressed...speaking statistics on a Sunday is pretty hardcore. BTW, do you have any experience with IV ibandronate? If you do, I might like to PM you so we don't bore everyone here with shop talk ;)

Wish we all lived closer...we could have dinner with Krista and Steve this week and Jen and her family next week ;)

Sunny... BPV is no fun!

Judy...oh man!

Nancy...hope you're feeling better soon!

Laurie...good luck in your hockey game!

Stephanie, Angie, Chester...anyone interested in a mini-meet when Stephanie's here in a couple weeks?

Melissa...congrats on your adventure race! Y'all need to tryout for Amazing Race. I thought of you guys yesterday...we took wild thing out for her first kayak ride!

Speaking of which...bedtime!

One more thing...

I'm working on a club discount with runningwarehouse.com. They have prices comparable to roadrunnersports.com's VIP discount pricing. The return policy is not quite as liberal, but they do offer free shipping and free return shipping. The weird thing is they don't carry ASICS, but looks like they have all kinds of other shoes, lots of running clothes and gear.

I'll let everyone know if I can get the discount set up.

Mel & Stephanie - I would love to meet up when Stephanie is here. She mentioned before sitting at the Daquiri Deck sipping daquiris and I was sooo going to invite myself. :rolleyes1
Sunny & Judy - I am soo sorry!!! Lot's of :grouphug: and prayers.

no training today, still recovering from yesterday. Gotta do hw and pack :cool1: So excited about my trip!!!

Kristin: happy to hear you are OK.

Dave: I can't wait to see those DD's in a race soon! princess:

Kelley: nice job on the LW :thumbsup2

Jen: hope DD is feeling better soon!

Krista: amazing! You are waaaay too organized for me! :woohoo:

Leana: YIKES! :scared1: 4 inches of snow!?! Better there than here!

Judy: I am so sorry to hear about your knee!!!

Vic, Sunny, wfloyd: HAHAHAHAHA!!! My DH is not allowed near anything like that. We turn it off and call the plumber immediately! I love him, but I know his limitations. And don't even think about asking me. I'm the one calling the plumber! :rotfl:

Christa: nice week of workouts! ::yes::

Sunny: good luck! Hugs to you.

Stephanie: have fun with your new walking partner! I walk and lift weights a couple times a week with a co-worker and he has lost 2 pants sizes since we started this. He is thrilled with the results so far.

Mel: keep the gators. They are all yours. And the snakes. If I see any, I'm sending 'em your way!!

Light cardio and weights today. Tomorrow is speed work. But I also have to stay at home to wait for the telephone repair person. Our land line is down and has been for a week. So, the window of time they gave me was 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. That's right, a 12-hour window! So, I'm supposed to sit at home--er, I mean work at home until the repair person arrives. Yippee!! If all goes well, I may run my speed work outside at the end of the day. Maybe I'll go to the high school track.

Everyone: have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Sorry, don't have time for reply to all but must put in my :grouphug: :wizard: :goodvibes for Sunny and Judy to get better soon.

I don't know if I posted about my helping with coaching - I have been designated the distance coach - kids track team (88 of them from 9 to 14 year-olds) but these guys know how to run. As an example tonights track practice had me taking the groups out for mile runs. So I ended up doing 4 mile repeats with the groups running - I am always up with the lead kids with a coach in the middle and one at the back of the pack - 6:20, 6:40, 6:45, and 6:40 miles. All this with me getting in less than a minute rest between groups. Either I am getting in better shape or the kids are taking my mind off all of the pain that comes with speed work. It is a blast coaching these kids and I know they are making me a lot faster and I feel like I am helping them too. This is the best therapy I have ever had.

Mel and Angie--Oh yeah on a mini-meet!!!:thumbsup2 We'll be in Siesta Key from April 7-11. Oh and Mel, could we avoid the alligators????? Maybe I will do all my running on the beach! Ha!

Walking tonight was fun. I hooked up with the walking coach--man, can she walk fast!!!! But, she gave me the names of the "coaches" who lead the official Little Rock Marathon training. And she said that if I let them know that I was doing Disney in Jan. that they could devise a plan to suit my needs--and that they train all year long, so I could hook up with a group on Sat. Cool, since I'm getting lonely! Well, got a 5 miler scheduled for tomorrow--probably will be on the TM since I'm supposed to babysit all day. Love to get outside, but we'll see! Night all!

Judy and Sunny

I'm sorry about your health reverses. Hang in there and don't let it break your spirit.

Dave

Getting your girls out is cute, but be warned in advance what will happen one day. I've told this story before, but hey, I like it, and here it comes again. As Lesley got into her early teens she became serious about soccer and lacrosse, to the point that we would train together, running, kicking, and throwing. As she got into high school and became a better player our training got more intense, but I was still bigger, stronger, faster, and meaner than she was, and it was me dragging her around the field and track.

Cut to August before her senior year in high school. We're at the track doing 100 meter repeats. Ready, set, go. She leaps off the line and after 20 meters she is 5 meters in front of me. She holds this gap, I cannot run her down, and she finishes the same 5 meters in front. We finish our workout, but I'm destroyed. We come home and in private I tell Martha what transpired. She looks at me and says, "you didn't think this day would come?" I told her, "yes, in theory I knew one day she'd be able to outrun me, but I didn't expect it to actually happen." Of course, looking back nearly 5 years, that was a highlight in our relationship. Literally the torch was passed from father to daughter, which was pretty cool.

So figure about 10 years until those girls run right by you. Just be ready.

And . . . I received my postcard today stating "You are officially entered into the 2008 WDW Marathon." So I'm committed, or perhaps I should be committed.

Best to all.

Craig

goofyguy - That's awesome!!! :goodvibes

Judy & Sunney - :wizard: :grouphug: :wizard: :grouphug:

Can you say stonker?

I started to stretch fro our 50 min and my right hamy was not happy. Stretched well. Started to run. Oh, really not happy. I ended up using teh 10 minute rule and turnign around. Kept running, though as it did not seem to be hurting my stride. Then my opposite knee started to hurt. Ok, time to walk, I must be doing something to compensate. My hip hurt by teh time I got home. Iced tonight. I'm off until Thur. Grrrrr.... I hope it was just a littel somethingfrom gardening. :(

Oh, I am seeign lime green from my XT tonight. Yup, shirts are in, sorted and weighed. Just need labels. It's a busy week, so I can't mail them Wed, but they will be out by Friday for sure. Scott said we needed pix of all the shirts, but we decided that you could still tell how messy teh house was under teh shirts. ;)

Judy - OH NO!!!!!!!!

Sunny - PLEASE feel better!

My water heater story... for several years we knew it needed to be replaced, but when the hot water quit, you just reset it and everything was fine. DH was out of town, so DD went to the crawl space (great space for a water heater - NOT!) to push the reset button. This time, sparks flew, insulation ignited, flames began; I grabbed the extinguisher, flames grew bigger... After 4 hits with the extinguisher, the flames finally subsided, but by that time the fire department was on the way (we weren't taking any chances, since the floor joists were directly above the water heater) - they sent 6 TRUCKS! Firemen said I did a really good job extinguishing it, but that it had been a really hot fire inside; proclaimed the water heater dead, cut the power to it, and left. Don't let DD or me near anything plumbing related!

I've been out of town all weekend with my sis. She and I have become obsessed with working on our family tree, so I've had no sleep for the past couple of days. Need life to return to normal so I can run again!

Jackie

Well, opted to get my 4 miler in today instead of waiting for tomorrow. The first mile felt great (of course it did, it was all downhill!)....then on the second mile I started to worry about my ankle. Halfway through the third mile I realized I was just being silly and my ankle really was fine and it was time to tackle the big hill up and it actually felt great. Fourth mile felt awesome (again, a lot of downhill) so I opted to run the extra 0.5 miles to finish the loop back to my house. I finished the 4.5 miles in 51:58 for an 11:32 min/mi pace. I love Garmin and the Bones in Motion website - my elevation change running around my neighborhood is 131 ft.

And the best part? It was beautiful out - sunny, green grass, warm (well, 52 deg felt warm enough to me) and I was running in one of my favorite running skirts and a long sleeve shirt. You know what that means - I needed sunglasses to help reflect the glare off of my white legs!! :cool2: Yes, I love spring!

Now I am hunkered down and waiting for the 4 - 6 inches of snow that is supposed to be arriving overnight! :sad1:

Oh, and my ankle feels fine. I really think it was all me just worrying in my head since it didn't really hurt on the run either. I was just worried it was going to hurt.

Question for the AP holders out there - I'm contemplating the AP since it seems to make sense between my Minnie and marathon trip. Can anyone tell me the likelihood of getting AP hotel rates for the marathon weekend in January? Plus the AP would make Minnie next year a total given!!

Judy - OMG NO!!!!!!!!!!!! You take care of yoursef!!!! Sending a trailer load of pixie dust your way :wizard: :wizard:

Sunny - :wizard:  :wizard:

I did it - I spent the day at WDW on Sunday  It's about 45 min away from my hotel (make that 2hrs on the way back when I missed the damn sign on I-4 :headache: Otherwise it was fabulous. I missed having my family as I thought about them each time I saw something I knew one would love but I did things I wouldn't have done if they had been there. Managed to fit in a visit to my favorite resort - WL, MK, Epcot and back to MK for fireworks. Life is good!!!!!!

I still have a couple more days of meetings/training here in Orlando and the weather just couldn't be nicer. I'm hoping to return to WDW to hit DTD one of the nights if I have a night with no committments.

WISHing everyone the best :wizard:

Minnie - glad to hear your solo trip went well. I know exactly what you mean, whenever I take kids by myself cause DH is on duty I find myself the whole trip wishing he was there to see or hear certain things.

Leanna - It is very easy to get AP rates for marathon as long as you jump on them as soon as they come out. I had booked POP century at AP rate this year and had no problem. We ended up switching to Contemporary cause we were running for AT Children's Project and got a good rate with them. AS an AP holder I say GO FOR IT!!!!!

angie

Sunny - I hope that you feel much better very soon. You have been through more than your share already.

Judy - Likewise you have dealt with enough already. I hope that all is well and that further tests show that things are not as bad as they initially appear. If it is as serious as a torn ACL, please remember that there will always be other races and other events and that your well being does come first. I know from personal experience that it is no fun to cancel a race or sit it out because of injury while your friends run it. Please keep us up to date. :wizard:

We had the plumbers out today (seems to be a running theme) to fix the drain for the washing machine. I checked the laundry and noticed the floor was soaked. As it turns out, the drain for the washing machine was backed up. Total cost for the drain to be serviced (had them do another slow one while they were here) time less than one hour - $200 :scared1: . I'm in the wrong business  .
