Hello everyone!
For those new to us, we're a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. Some of us are training for the 2006 Disneyland Half and for the 2007 WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news/training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

Good training everyone!
My foot is taped for the next 4 days so I'm not allowed to do anything! I also have a heel cup that I'm supposed to have on my foot with shoes anytime I take a step. I'm not to be barefoot at all...that's pretty hard for a native FL girl! And the podiatrist promises that all this will be most effective if I just purchase the $450 custom molded orthotics (insurance coverage not included)
...we had 2 days of wet weather, but not too bad. Had a guy come out for hurricane shutter estimate yesterday
What was really neat about this 5K race was the "meal" we had after. They had the usual bananas, oranges and bagels, but they also had good ol' southern sweet tea, muffins, trail mix and wraps!! They had tables and chairs set up so we all sat down for our 'meal'. I met a lot of nice people (mental note to self: "runners are really nice people"
).
I say the heat is worth it for free food & WDW! I thought June would be real bad, but we survived & had a blast.
Did a 6 mile LR (though technically it is an OR - only run) on the TR at 1% in 62 minutes. It was a little bit slower than my usual 60 min but I'll take it. It was hard!
Definitely my "punishment" for not doing anything during the week (or since the Minnie, really, if we're being honest).
that the shot and TLC work!!!
I will try not to be such a stranger from now on.
!! No small feat. Glad to hear you're on the mend and the shoes are working well for you.
for your ailments. Hang in there!
I know I am headed that way too. I have had low blood sugar as long as I can remember (not enough to set off flags, but I have all the signs)and diabetes is on both sides of the family. (Reminder to self that that's why I need to get on the stick again) I get the nausea and fatigue if I go more than 40 to 50 minutes w/o Gu. If I take very 4 miles, I do ok. If I pass my point of no return though (~60 mintes), I'm done. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this, but it sounds like you're doing very well. My father ate pretty well and exercised hi whole life, so he held off until 60 when he was diagnosed. He does failry well and after he got htings under control, he realized tha the could have a day every couple weeks where he had aice cream or dessert like a normal person. Hang in there!!!! Although it's more fun to pretend you can eat anything you want, especially when you run, it is good to catch this early!
