Wk of July 8--WISH Walking/Running Club

Ok My Queen, if I must. Tiger Lily forgive me.:flower3:

You said your butt was getting numb from sitting on the couch. That was the first time I ever heard a woman admit to being a numb a$$.;)

Ok slinking off now to hide.:guilty:

Dave:hippie:

:rotfl2: :lmao:  :rotfl: :rotfl: No worries! It made me laugh and I so need that today!

I'm used to being in perpetual motion and this sitting idle is driving me nuts. :headache:

ETA: Do we have an official WISH meet time for January? Since I have nothing else to do I am working on my January schedule.

Thanks, Carrie. :thumbsup2 I'll put those two things on my schedule.

I have now recovered from my WO yesterday...and had a great one today, on the Treadmill!
5.2 miles, 40 min, 7:41 pace!:cool1: THATS MORE LIKE IT!

WWDave - :sad2: YARC!

SWDave - WHERE ARE YOU! I PMed you.

Kim - Hope you have a great WO tonight! Sorry you had it rough last night.

Leana - OUT OF CONTROL! What did you do? I have had people ask me if I am pregnant b/4...when I wasn't.

A counselor's moment!....Watch out for misspelled words.:confused3
About PI...I read it, but it really did not bother me all that much and let me tell you why. As a counselor, I follow RET (rational emotive therapy). I teach my clients that they can take charge of their feelings by changing what they believe about themselves.....so in this case, The false belief is "I must meet the standards of certian others to feel good about myself." PI's standards that define me as a runner or a jogger is no concern to me...I make my own standard. I know I am a runner and all you guys are too. It is what is in your heart that really matters....no matter what anyone says. Everytime we go out there to push the limits of our bodies, we influence the people around us for the better and we do something great for ourself! So go out there and push yourself.....Don't stop until you get enough!:cloud9:

Thanks to everyone for their advice on my overtraining issues. I think what I need is a coach who will bench me for my own good ;) I kinda liked Bill's injury training schedule so I only did 30 min on the TM at 4.6mph on Mon. That aggravated my ankle, so I'm taking the rest of the week off, partly for rest and partly because today's my birthday. I've decided to participate in some recreational eating instead of running today :thumbsup2 We'll be at WDW this weekend to celebrate mine and my mom's birthday's at Boma.

Helen...welcome back! Glad to see you back in action!

Heather...thanks for posting the article. I know I need to make peace with my pace, but now that I'm acutely aware of my age  , I'm hoping this isn't as good as it gets before I start fading.

Judy...max dose of ibuprofen on the OTC bottle is 2400mg daily, but Rx is 3200mg daily. Oh wait...was that a rhetorical question ;) Glad the surgery is over and you're on the road to recovery!

Terri...glad to see you're allowed to move again as well!

Jen...I would be more than satisfied with sub 3:00 for CDC. Sounds like a great goal to me! :wizard: for your PF issues!

Lynnda...sorry to see that you're in the PF club too. :wizard: for you.

Carrie...what happened to your poor knees? Maybe we need to get you some of Sunny's treadmill nirvana. ;)

Leana...interesting reply from PI. I haven't heard back from them or RW. I'm not getting the tongue in cheek part of the ad...seemed like they were serious to me.

Kim... for your meltdown!

Since I have no training news, I'll report DH's. He did 1.6 miles last night at a 10:42 pace. That was outside in the miserable weather. I think he may be doing sub-10s soon!

My mom got me a runningwarehouse.com gift certificate for my birthday. I used my WISH team discount to get some new stuff, including the book, "I Run, Therefore I am Nuts". I think Lily recommended it awhile ago. I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Yay! That means I was allowed to skip my first run og the week. The humidity has just knowcked me on my hiney the last couple days. SAd when I can't even make it ot the pool. :(
You get a note - excused absence!

No, on my TM at home, I get on there with my iPod and sing my heart out. Good thing the TM is in the basement and we have pretty good insulation!!! :rockband:
We are going to be finishing our basement this summer. I'll have to keep that in mind!

OK, so I finally looked up what the Kitchen Sink is......OMG that is a lot of ice cream!!!! And an entire can of whipped cream? Insane..!!

Yeah.... but you gotta admit it..... it looks AMAZING!! Unfortunately, I can't do a Saturday Kitchen Sink.... not when I have to run 26.2 miles the next day. Now maybe Sunday!! Or if one of the spectators wants to meet me outside with a couple of bites of one during the race on Sunday... I could do that too!!

Dana

Thanks everyone for the:hug:

Wow, I just go so behind in posts, and Dave I want to read your walkers thread. I think I will go there right after this post.

LeanaIsn't the kitchen sink awesome. I was thinking Chef Mickeys on Sat after the 1/2 but I certainly could just have a kitchen sink for dinner....is that allowed:lmao:

MEL HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! WTG for DH's run

ChristaWOW you rock:woohoo: Workout was great tonight, I am loving my new MP3 list

CarrieHope you are OK, how are the knees:hug:

BeckyWTG on your 7 miles....

WWDaveour humidity has finally broke.....crazy trying to get a workout in when it is that hot.

Krista I too sing the in basement on the TM and I am about as tone deaf as they come. My DD always says mom you know the windows are open.....I just say yup doesn't bother me I can't hear myself with the earphones in:rotfl:

Renee WTG on getting out there and the sprints

Jen WTG on getting out there. Good luck in finding your receptionist

Oh gotta run, there is a CSI episode I haven't seen before . Hope to check back later.

Kim

This is from the upcoming issue of New England Journal of Medicine. It's a case report on a 37 yo man who blew his eardrums when he was out jogging while wearing his IPOD. Lightning hit a tree near him which threw him 8ft, but the combination of sweat and the metal IPOD conducted the lightning energy to his ears. He had burns along his chest, neck and face that corresponded to his earphones and cord.

Well, it's been a little while since I've made it to the boards. A mix of being out of town, busy at work, family get togethers, being at work, out of town again, and a trojan on my computer that I've finally been able to wipe out (it was affecting my connection status for a long time - no internet at home, what to do). But through all of this, I've kept up my training - well the running part of it anyway, the diet has gone by the wayside a few times (when camping it is illegal in the state of Andrew to say no to a s'more - or as Buzz would call it a hot schmoe). Last Saturday was a 10 miler for me and even though I've had a couple of Stonker runs, this marathon is going to be a reality. On Father's day was the Quad Cities Triathlon, a sprint distance that I've decided to do next year. My goal for Going Goofy in 2009 is still there, but I thought (thanks for the encouagement TriMom) that doing a sprint triathlon or two would be beneficial. I've missed sooooo much on the boards here that I have very little chance to catch up 100%, but I hope not to be away this long again. CDC is just around the corner and I am very excited to see everyone there.
To all my teammates nursing injuries (or like Queen Judy recovering from surgery) - get well and godspeed!
To all my teammates training for this race or that ride - You all Rock!
To all my teammates just out there running, riding, or just being active for the heck of it - You are an inspiration to those around you, and if not, they're just not paying enough attention.

Happy Training!

, and a trojan on my computer that I've finally been able to wipe out (it was affecting my connection status for a long time

Any takers? WWDave? Vic? PatsBill? Anyone? Common Judy! You can say whatever you like and blame it on a post-surgical hangover.

Leana - I once asked someone I knew was pregnant that I hadn't seen for a month or two when she was going to pop that baby out. "Last week", she said. I'm sure I offended her but she could take comfort in the fact that I know I felt 10 x worse.

Steve (or Krista if Steve's not lurking) - How's the ankle?

Mel - Happy Birthday! It's just a number, not a plateau.

Stephanie - I seriously had a major headache last night after watching that video. I was planning on a rest day but went out for a quick 5 miler. Amazing that feeling all hot and tired can chase away a headache but it seems to work for me almost everytime.

Carrie - Did you see my earlier post for you? Either you missed it or you didn't find it worth commenting on. Either way, in bad form I will quote myself:
I believe we now have video documentation of Carrie's ill-fated winter treadmill run. I think she blamed her fall on messing with her i-Pod. Now we know the truth!

http://www.schickshavelab.com/

Pick "The Experiments" on the top, ignore the busty blonde, select the "Gym Experiment".

Training wise - Is it Jeff Galloway's site that says add 20-30 seconds/mile to your pace for every 5 degrees over 60? I can't wait for October when I can start knocking down those 5 minute miles.

optimike--sorry about the headache--I warned you! DH hasn't watched the video yet, so I made sure he knows what he's getting into when he presses play. He asked "Did the hills look bad?" That video moved so fast, couldn't really tell there were any. Glad the headache resolved

christa--Awesome WO!, If only I could get to that pace for more than 3.1 miles. And thanks for the "cousenlor's perspective":thumbsup2

andrew--Trojans in your computer???? Um, can I say, that just ain't right!:rotfl2:

judy--how are you feeling tonight? Sorry to hear things were hurting so bad earlier!

helen--glad to "see" you again and yeah on being able to join the madness in January! Can't wait to meet our "down-under" delegate!

terri--so glad you are being able to "lace-up" again, if only for short distances.

Well, I got my 6 miles in this morning on the TM. Felt really good, finished in 53:55. Tomorrow is the dreaded speed workout and then I think 2 rest days in a row (and no work this weekend:dance3: ) Have a great night all!

Any takers? WWDave? Vic? PatsBill? Anyone? Common Judy! You can say whatever you like and blame it on a post-surgical hangover.

I thought the same thing, Mike! :lmao: Stephen's ankle seems to be okay, he ran a 10 miler on Sunday and it was fine. I'll tell him you miss him dearly. ;)

Mel--Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Thanks for all the welcome backs, looking forward to seeing you all again/meeting Judy too!

Dana - hmmm, a WISH ice cream stop now there's a plan, so who's going to man the coolbags waiting for all us marathoners to run past eh. I've already got Tim sitting at the pub with cider for me for when I come round that last corner into Epcot!!!

He was most upset today when the hockey schedules came out and I informed him that yes he can drive down to Miami to watch the Panthers on Jan 12th, but I'm getting up at 4am that night and he also has to be on the course by 9am so he can do the animal kingdom powderade refill, then peg it to MGM for the 'who's stupid idea was this' pep talk - and then get to Epcot for the cider provision!!! He did it all last time so I know it's possible!!!

And Kim - yes, completely acceptable to consume kitchen sink for dinner - I had a pot of Ben and Jerrys for lunch after my first Disney half!!! And I do believe I'll be doing the same after the marathon this year - spose I'd better not sugar up too much after the half, that sounds like a recipe for boinkng at 30 miles the next day!!!

Anyway, still dont' have Orlando hotels so spose I'd better spend my lunchbreak booking at least one of them. Helen

It's bed time so I thought I'd WISH everyone sweet dreams.

Mel, Happy Birthday!

Christa, great pace...you are back. I get and try to live by that advice you have offered, but that PI ad is so hateful that I just cannot see ever buying anything from them again. I don't care what the ad exec had to say. Not using their product gives me control and I still can feel good about what I'm doing in the world of wogging--they cannot take away that either.

Helen, I like that cider idea in Epcot. Hmmm wonder how Kitchen sink will mix with that, well maybe skip the kitchen, grab the "cider" yeah! ;)

Note to self, do not wear ear phones in a lightening storm. Sad/frightening that happened.

I'm ignoring the bad kids comments! :lmao: :lmao: I'm not going there I'm not.

Good to see everyone's progress. Mine was not to be had today. Keep on keepin' on WISH Team.

Where's the rest of the team? We've got such a huge list and I seem to think we've got some strays to round up...

From Calcio: Please take it easy in the heat and humidity, especially you Howard. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the fall.

Craig ~ No worries... I am (unfortunately) not pushing myself too hard. I need a swift kick in the keester. I have only been running around 10-15 miles a week lately. I need to kick it up a notch for the CDC coming up on early August. Shortly following the half marathon in Chicago, school starts and training will fall by the wayside. Then ToT and then the Goofy on little training. Maybe you can give me some pointers to keep me on the correct path here. Enjoy your high altitude runs.

Judy ~ Get Well Soon! Get organic! ;)

Tomorrow Cam and I are running in yet another 5K event. Wish us luck! I am sure we'll post our results.

Happy Training everyone! I am impressed and awed by your energy, pep, attitude and excitement.

Good night!

:grouphug:

Howard

Sorry about the lack of posting team, but the "training" has been inconsistant as of late. I have been lurking and trying to keep up with everyone though. I'll be at WDW with the family next week, so at least I'll be getting a lot of steps done.

Upon my return, look out roads and treadmill cause here I come. As I let Carrie know when ordering my stylish green WISH team shirt (after she sternly reprimanded me), I don't want to let the team down if I'm going to be wearing the shirt, so I am going to get things in gear.

Based on the planned team and Donald competitors marathon weekend meets, I'll plan on bringing my DDE card. Its good for up to 10 people. That's 20% off 10 kitchen.sinks (1 each, right). I think its free anyway if one person finishes the whole thing. As I'm new to this, is post race carbo loading good? I suppose there is a hint of protien in all that ice cream too.

Any takers? WWDave? Vic? PatsBill? Anyone? Common Judy! You can say whatever you like and blame it on a post-surgical hangover.

Not sure what to say about Andrew's computer trojans. If used, I'm happy he got rid of them. I personally try to use software to protect my computer, but I have no reason to believe its permiscuous. If it was, I'd want it to be safe from viruses and not have little bytes running around.
