Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we're a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. Some of us are training for the 2006 Disneyland Half and for the 2007 WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news/training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

2 miles on the TM yesterday at a 15:41 pace. (W7/R3 intervals) I'm trying to come back slowly since my foot's not back to 100%, but it's hard to go slow. I'm just glad to be able to run again.

Susie...welcome back :wave2:

:welcome: to Kimber (macrosswife) from AL! Are you planning the half or the full?

I don't think the WISH meet was 'officially' announced, but the last group consensus was for the POR food court at 4:00pm the Friday before the half. I haven't been able to get the search feature to work to be able to resurrect the thread, but if everyone's in agreement, we can make that the 'official' pre-race meet. I believe a Mon morning post-race breakfast meeting at Boardwalk bakery was also in the works for those who will still be at WDW then. That's a great opportunity to pose for pics with your medal(s) :woohoo:

Sunny...where are ya? How are you doing?

Dave...continued :wizard: for healing your injuries.

Pat...if you carry peanuts, you can throw them to distract the attack squirrel and make your getaway ;)

Cam...congrats on both your 5Ks! Great pace improvement in that second one!

Dena...welcome back! Love your affirmations!

Carrie...what have you been up to? Any races coming up?

We have lots and lots of people on the WISH team that we haven't heard from in a LONG time. If you're still out there, please drop us a line and let us know how your training is coming along!

Have a good week!

Greetings TEAM!

I just wanted to WISH everyone a great week. I'm packing up the van to leave for our week long vacation at Keuka Lake, NY. I'm going to try to continue x-training, and resting up my legs so I can begin training for the WDW Marathon when I get back.

Stay healthy everyone, and have fun.

Hello!

I haven't read through last week's thread yet, but I'll get to it.

DS and I had a great time camping, despite the sciatica/back pain. The back pain is new, it used to be just sciatica. But I'll save those details for another post.

We climbed a river bed over half a mile. I was careful to teach DS that white water is dangerous but forgot to tell him about moss on the rocks... He slipped and fell (sliding down rocks) about 10 feet, but fortunately only got minor scrapes. We also did a "big" hike. 3.2 mile rount-trip, 900 feet climb. He thought he was going to die on the way up. I used a lot of Billy Blanks quotes to coax him up the mountain. There was a lake at teh top and he tried to swim in it but it was freezing.

We took the inflatable kyack out (on another lake), but it's so light that I had a hard time manuevering it. The wind took it every which way. Next year maybe we'll rent a two man kyack. They have a great bike/kyack rental where you start at the bike shop, drop off the bike, get in the kyack and then they drive you back to your car at the end... Many possibilities!

We also did some commercial stuff-- a water park and a small amusement part witih trained bears. Next year we're taking bikes! There are great paved paths and easy dirt paths and very technical paths for crazies like MelR!

I have to admit, I wish I could go up there with some athletes and really take advantage of the hiking/biking. But DS is coming along nicely!

OK, switching gears...

I got home around 7PM last night and up at 5AM this morning for our mother/daughter 5K. It was really nice. Huge crowd (~1.5-2K?), beautiful course along the Marina Bay. DD did reeally well. She needed to walk 3 times but I only let her walk for 30 seconds each time. I quoted more Billy Blanks to her (my poor kids). We finished 32:49 according to my watch. For some reason they didn't post the mother/daughter team results along with the rest so I don't know our offical time yet.

They gave out cool metals, too :thumbsup2

OK, I promise to stop using all the bandwidth with my pics! ;)

Thank you everyone so much for all the pixiedust: I actually think it helped quite a bit, well... that an the antibiotics!! I am feeling much better now. The doc has me on 10 days worth of antibiotics this time instead of the three days worth he gave me for my last bout of strep 6 weeks ago. I guess he figured since the 3 days didn't kill it completely that 10 days should definatley do the trick!!

I have decided to get my dead behind off the couch tomorrow and get back in gear with my training, which officially starts tomorrow, allbeit a little slow so that I don't injure myself!! I am still debating wether I should run 3 or 4 times per week. Any reason I should do one or the other??

I saw that some of you were talking about WISH meets for while we are there?! Have we decided on something? If we have just let me know, I am still at a bit of a loss on how this whole thing works.

Also... just wanted to share some of these while I was thinking about it. These are from my solo trip with the boys to Sea World last week.

Here are a couple of pics of the boys!!

Hey all, just a quick post. I am actually at work right since I am on call this weekend which requires me to come in for office duty also. I am only here 3 hours today, but yesterday was longer and I just didn't get in my run. So my plan was for this morning, until I woke up with a headache.... DH gave me some Zyrtek and Tylenol and I was dandy. I went out at 9:30.... NO SHADE.... ughhh, but I managed a 4 mile wog and was so proud of myself. I was literally dripping with sweat from the heat and sun. I prefer evening runs much better.

I hope everyone had a great weekend...

New poll for Marathon Weekend events:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1111494

Thanks to Dana for resurrecting the thread!

We only had two events for 2006, but 2007 looks like it could shape up to be more festive! I'm hoping as we get bigger and the tradition continues, we'll have a whole WISH team weekend for the marathon every year!

Sunny...great pics!

Dana...you too...we did Sea World our last vaca. I love feeding the stingrays! The dolphins are cool, but were a bit 'randy' the day we were there.

Hey everyone! I miss a day and there are so many posts! I skimmed, but not real good.
Sunny - GREAT pics..looked like you had fun!

Dana - Loved the Sea World pics...glad you are feeling better.

I hate everyone is meeting Friday b/c we may not come in until Saturday. Is there any other WISH activities?

It has been a busy weekend b/c my production company opened up a new show Saturday! I got some back stage pics and some after the show.
This is back stage b/4 the show (my sis, me, and Julie-a fellow cast member)

this is me (in pink) and Hope (my sis in purple) after the show.

Christa - You looked might purrrdeee in those pics. What show were you doing?? Looks like you were having fun!!!!

We are going to Sea World next month. We are doing Disneyland with a day in San Diego. The girls are so excited to see the whales!

I love everyone's photos! Next year I am definitely going camping with Sunny!

I have been so busy at work. I have gotten in zero training in the past week, and there is no hope for this week. One of my partners is on a cruise in Alaska and left me with all of her work for the next two weeks. I leave on vacation for Michigan next Saturday so this week is going to be rough! I will be MIA on the boards for the next couple of weeks, but I will be thinking about all of you.

I never got a chance to read all of the posts from last week, but I hope that everyone is doing well. DH and I are definitely on board for a WISH meet on Friday night at POR food court and breakfast Monday at the Boardwalk Bakery.

Oh, Mel!!! Those are AWESOME!!! Great idea!! 50-119 are $1.89 each, plus $.30 for the back = $2.19; plus Paypal, an envelope and a stamp, right? Thanks for the WDW meet poll, also!
Christa, what show was it??? You look fantastic!
Sunny, WOW!! What a gorgeous place to camp. So glad you had a good time, but sooooo sorry about your back! Those were some mighty impressive hiking trails! Hooray for you and DD with the 5K!!
Dana, tell Michael he really looks scary with his face painted! Looks like you had a good time. Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Heather, we'll miss you! Take a break and go up and down the stairs at work (if you have them!)! Have a fun time on your vacation the next week!

Got my five miles in on Saturday with an average pace of....14:34!!! No matter how I try and doubt the Garmin, the time worked out to that..UNBELIEVABLE!! :woohoo: and I really wasn't hurting or pushing. It's just so hard for me to comprehend coming from where I started in January. Thanks to all of your encouragementto me as well as the tips and advice to others that everyone so generously shares on this board!

Mornin' WISH team! I say that because as I was doing my 5 miles in yesterday a.m. I wogged by one of my neighbors who was in his front yard in his robe with his dog I nodded my head & said "mornin'" I immediately thought of Christa :wave2: and running in the south. Then, I went by all the crepe myrtles. Its funny how you guys pop in my head. 5 miles went pretty good. I am having problems with my energy level, so I dont have as much gumption (is that really a word?) as I usually do. I'm going to the DR. Wed. to have blood work & everything checked out.

Mel- I love the bracelet! Of course my kids would love to have one too. DS has tons of those. And good job on the running. Just dont try to do too much & get injured.

Sunny-those pics are great. It looks beautiful up there! That last pic is my fav too. That's neat you did the Iron Girl with DD. You are an awesome mom!

Dana-great pics! Your kids are so cute.

Jen-Great job getting those steps in :cheer2:

Christa-great pics too!

Anne-Awesome job on your 5 miles :yay: You should be very proud!

Heather-dont work too hard, we'll miss you this week

The boys have mini camps this week all over town. They'll have a blast but I'll spend the week in the car :car: Have a great week everyone!

This just in............. Mom & I are doing the WDW 2007 1/2 :cool1: I just registered! I just couldn't commit to the full right now & she wouldnt be able to do it with me. We are going to be staying offsite in a great house with heated pool & game room so the kids will have a blast. Nieces, DH & DS8 will be doing the 5k again. Its becoming a great family tradition. We hardly ever get to see my nieces so this is great for them to do this together.
Also since staying offsite (hence, cheaper) we are coming down 12/29 and will be there for NYE :Pinkbounc I know we wont go to a park, but we can still have a party!

For those on the fence, the website says full- 65% full and 1/2 75% full

I am so glad I get to go to POR will you all!

RedSonya - :wizard: for your hip

Dena - good job getting back on track!

Kevin - That should teach you not to do dishes! ;)

Pat - stayed tuned below - I have a wildlife story for you! I would have definately traded for your squirrel.

Sunny - Looks like you and your DS had a blast camping. Awesome picture with your daughter for the 5k too!

Amdromedaslove - your boys are adorable. Thanks for sharing your Sea World pics.

Christa - you looked great! What show was it? And how the heck do you have time to work, run the crazy miles you do, and have kids to chase around?????

Anne - fabulous job!

TiffJ - I also think of Christa every time I say hi to someone while I am wogging - too funny!

Saturday I wogged 4 miles up at Sunapee:
13:24
13:20
13:17
13:23
53:25

Due to major hills in the area, I did not do much running. But for some weird reason, I was speedy. Maybe that had something to do with the COYOTE that ran out in front of me during mile 2! :scratchin :scared1: All I was thinking after that was "how am I going to fight that thing off if it's rabid or something and comes back for me?!" I protected myself by going to the other side of the road. Like that's going to help.

So, I decided I was now going to stay on the main road whenever I am up at the lake. Sunday was suppossed to be 30 mins. xtraining, but I really had nothing to do for xt up there with me (no bike, no room in small house to do a DVD, etc.). So, I just wogged for 30:45 and did 2.43 miles.

It's really weird - but a good weird.
I was faster than I have been - with less running & huge hills I am not used to at home in the city.

Woo Hoo! :cheer2:

So far it's me, Chad & his Dad for the Half. I am trying to recruit more...

Tiffj, Yay :cheer2: for the signing up for the 1/2!! :cheer2:
Kristi, Wow! You still got negatives splits doing new territory, hills and a coyote!
Kevin, hope your back is better today! pixiedust:

Sunny – Glad you had an awesome time on the camping trip with DS. The pics were great! Congrats on the wonderful finish time in the Mother/Daughter 5k.

Dana – It’s great that you’re feeling much better. The pics of the boys are too sweet.

Jen – Congrats on the 4 miles!!

Christa – Gorgeous pics from the show. It looks like you guys had a great time.

Anne – WTG on the 5 mile pace. It is amazing how far you’ve come in such a short period of time.

Tiff – Sorry to hear your energy’s been lagging as of late. I hope your doctor can offer some insight as to what may be causing the problem. Do you have a history of anemia? That can definitely plummet your energy level. Congrats for signing up for the 1/2.

Kristi – Too scary about the coyote sighting. Better safe than sorry. Glad to hear you’re picking up some speed in your legs. My DH is also running the 1/2 with me and the two DD’s acting as the scream team.

I did a 15-miler yesterday so I’m cross-training today. Living in the Adirondack Mountains is definitely prohibitive for picking up GPS signals on ones Garmin. I curse at the little contraption frequently since it is basically useless on the majority of my long runs. I started an advanced pilates class last week and it really kicked my butt. Luckily I enjoy pain so I am looking forward for some more punishment before work tomorrow. I can’t wait to make my January ADR’s. I voted on the WISH meet polls.

Best of luck to all with training this week!!
