I think they custom design it each year--and to be all that quite honest--you think it'll be something big--but it isn't that really, so that may be why it isn't posted. :confused3

However--it's big enough that I want one! larger than a speck of dirt and it is from Tiffany & Co.---I'm all over it dahling!!!!

I e-mailed my staff person to see if she would e-mail past participants for me to see if someone had a pic--though it is a long shot.

I too would like one- but will have to wait until next year as I secretly registered for the Chicago Marathon....SHH don't tell hubby.

Yes, I am still doing the Chicago Distance Classic.

I must be a little crazy. :lmao:

Yea!!! We are supposed to get to AK around 11:30, and will head right to EE. My parents are keeping the little one so we can have a date - Woo-Hooooo!!! :cloud9: We'll probably head to dinner around 4:15-ish (O'Hana's... so much for eating accountability... :rolleyes1 ). Do you know your time frame for Saturday? It would great to see you! :teeth:

Way to go Celeste!

If you are interested in any of the local 5k or 10k this summer let me know.

How about that snow! My kids were thrilled. They made a snow family of three! :)

No aching knees are not normal---it is a sign of either a preexisting condition or taking on too much too soon too fast. Get thee to Barnes and Noble and buy MFM and you can read how John Bingham used to follow this philosophy of wearing his aches and pains like a badge of honor. Yes--when they are supposed to happen they are a badge...when you are starting out---not so much a badge.

Your achy knees may not want to run as fast--may benefit from walk breaks....a whole host of things. I am not sure of what you are doing right now in terms of exercise....so if you wish to post that to see if we can help you, that would be great.

Good luck!

Lisa-
I am reading MFM. I probably do need to slow down a little. I have been following the Hal Higdon 5k, but it is just running without specified walking intervals. I just pulled up John Binghams 5k run/walk that I found online. I will start with that this week. My knees are less achy today. I will let you know how things feel this week.

Thanks for all your advice. I appreciate your help.

magslite, have you been fitted for good running shoes? That may help with your knees, too. :confused3 Good luck.

Ran 5 miles...off to eat bon-bons. :thumbsup2 Oh dang, I guess I better sign up on the accountablility thread. :rolleyes1

Sara

I was fitted for a pair from the New Balance store. Maybe time for another pair? Since I haven't been consistently exercising I am not sure how many miles are on them. They are less than a year old though.

Thanks for the reminder on keeping track of the miles on our shoes. I need to do better on keeping track of that.

I'm horrible at doing this too!! I track my runs on coolrunning.com, but that doesn't count in all of the cross-training I do on the same shoes!! I suppose I should have different shoes, but I don't...

Thanks for the tip on coolrunning. I'll have to set up myself and DH.

Hey Celeste,

I am thinking about doing Chicago as well! Either that or Marine Corps. Oh, has this marathon bug bit me hard!

Is anyone else interested in doing Chicago Marathon (10/22) (flat and fast)? We could try and get together a group for this race too!

Good morning everyone!! I am on quite the high today (even if I had to clean up dog diarrhea at 4:00 in the morning and then sat in traffic for an hour on my way to work :furious: ) Needless to say, I am going to bed early tonight!! :) I had a great 3 mile run on Saturday, I'm changing up my run/walk pattern, right now I'm at 5/1 and I'd like to be up to 6/1 or 7/1 by my half marathon in April. My ultimate goal is to run the full--we'll see!! I downloaded a bunch of really awesome songs on my mp3 player this weekend, that really made my look forward to my run. One song I have I think should be a must-have on every's mp3 player or ipod (I'm surprised I didn't think of it when I was training for the Disney half),"One Moment in Time" by Whitney Houston. Listen to the words and try not to cry over your accomplishments:

Give me one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity

MelR, Mel, Lisa, Cam,and everyone who helped me with the great ADE debate--Thanks!! I guess I'll just suck it up (or I guess suck it down) and learn to love it, or at least tolerate it. :teeth: I noticed after the half that I was a bit cloudy-headed ( I don't know any other way to describe it), I didn't feel bad or sick and I wasn't in a daze or anything. The only way I can think of to describe it is that I was on a delay. For the first 10-15 minutes after I was done, when Stephen would ask me something (like are you cold? are you hungry? do you hurt?) it would take a few extra seconds to process what he was asking. I guess that had something to do with the electrolyte levels. My other question, like I said earlier, I eat Power Bars when I run, usually a half every 30-40 minutes. Do you guys recommend bars or shots? I know it's probably preference, but I didn't know if someone researched the two and found one that is nutritionally better than the other.

I'd love to talk more, but I better get to work. Great job to everyone for staying motivated!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: Happy training!!

I put the date on mine when I get them. That way, I know the exact date they were bought. I only use mine for running and change them out every 3 months. I may be able to keep my next pair for another month b/c I'm not double running anymore. The rule is change out every 300-500 miles....this depends on your weight and what surface you are running on. You also need to do this with every pair of shoes..not just running shoes. This is what my foot Doc told me.
Getting ready to go swim.

Krista- another song I like is "I believe I can fly" by R. Kelly. Although I don't care for the singer and his past, the song was used at my pinning ceremony for nursing school and it really summed up how I felt about getting through nursing school. Another song I like is , "On my way" by Phil Collins from Brother Bear. I also tried to listen to lots of fast paced music.

Colleen- Yeah! That would be fun to have more people doing that and a Disparty! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

After breakfast- off to the TM!

Since it is really time to get serious about the Minnie, I am going to post my running schedule for the week here, hoping that will help make me do it!!!

I am following the IFit 1/2 marathon program, but decreasing the road runs a little to adjust for the 15K.

Monday Rest
Tuesday 3 Mile Run (45 mins or less)
Wednesday Rest
Thursday 4.1 Mile Hill Repeats (50 mins)
Friday Rest
Saturday 7 Mile Run (74 mins)

My Minnie Schedule:

The countdown starts this weekend 14 weeks until Minnie!!! Training for me will begin monday--using MFM again, the half-marathon run/walk plan. It starts easy with 3:2 intervals--I think I can swing that! Long runs on saturdays. I plan on using the jogging stroller--get some cross training out of it as well. Hopefully this will make me due for a pleasant surprise with time when I am no longer running with 80 pounds of kids!

I will do the schedule as written with no adjustments to long days--the longest is only 10 miles...so I figure that will be okay.

I will train with weights this season as well--just being careful to keep it light and lots of reps.

My longest run is supposed to be 15 miles, I will probably scale that one down to 10.

I too will be doing weight training, but I am tackling one change in routine at a time :)

Why would you want a medal that belongs to someone else? I am also suprised that multiple people are bidding on it? Lets hope someone lost theirs and now they are trying to replace it.

I do remember last year many people selling their Donalds and Mickeys online. Maybe due to the second one you get if you order one of the placques.

Good morning everyone. Thought I'd stop in here to see if I left my motivation here. I seem to have misplaced it. :guilty:

Holy cow we have a lot of posts for first thing Monday. :surfweb:

Minnie - Logic is a registered Thoroughbred so she has some real famous relatives. The mare I have on loan, Emily, is an Appendix. I think she is going to go home soon though. I am trying to foster a rescue Quarter Horse mare. I met her Sunday and she's a little small (I'm used to Logic at 17 hands) but seems like a real sweetie.
