Hello All
I'm another one of those northeasterns whose long run plans were crushed by the weather of the past 5 days. We got 16 inches Thursday, and 8 more Saturday night/Sunday morning. I thought it would take be 20 minutes to dig out the cars Sunday, but 1 hour later I came back in the house totally blown. Then it turned to sleet, then rain, and of course when the backside of the storm came out of Canada (eh?) the rain froze on top of the snow, driveway, easement, cars, you name it.
I felt too tired to do my planned 10, and when Martha got home from the fitness center she told me they were shutting it down so the plows could get in and clean up the lots. I probably was too dumb to not try the run, so I was delighted they took away my option.
I did get there today and did 10 on the treadmill at 9:45 per mile. I figure that's my last long and tempo run before January 13. It was fine, but the treadmill makes my ankles and other parts hurt, so I'm not looking forward to a short run on it Thursday, then that last 18 mile long effort Sunday. Howard I am envious you can be outside, and Judy that you can hope for it, because it looks like the roads and sidewalks here won't be safe until mid-May.
And please, not 71 degree temperature and dewpoint at 6 a.m. on marathon day. I swore (a lot

) after the 2007 disaster I wouldn't ever do it again, but apparently one time doesn't teach me anything. If it happens 2 years in a row maybe I'll figure it.
It's getting close, and I'd so sick of the training I'm darned glad for it (that's my version of Pollyanna's glad game, this training isn't fun anymore but it's nearly over, of course the race is a blast).
Best to all
Craig
