Wk of April 27 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Kevin:Chance is so cute!

Ang:Actually, I'm not really sore from horseback riding anymore. Guess I've broken in those muscles again!

:3dglasses

So yesterday was a light day. Horseback riding in the morning, a skate in the afternoon, and a short spell in the climbing gym.

I think I've found my favorite horse at the barn to ride. His name is Manny. He's a tall, bay (brown and black), thoroughbred gelding. He's about 8 and has been doing low jumpers (but could definitely go higher). He's "a lot of horse" (in the words of my instructor) and likes to go, but is polite and has a nice mouth. I was a bit out of my comfort zone yesterday but he was quite the gentleman!

I was super excited to go back to the climbing gym because on Monday I discovered that they had striped the bouldering wall and completely reset it. So now we are designing all new routes with the new holds!

Safe travels for all who are traveling to WDW!

Hey Cam,

How are you doing?

Are you guys on Southwest 7:00 am flight out of Philly? That is the flight Karen & I and on. Maybe we'll see you there.

Later,
John

John - YES!!! OMG! I am so psyched! you guys are on that flight? I am thrilled! It will be so fun to see you and Karen at the airport. :grouphug: Did you print your boarding passes? Howard did mine for me this morning because I was at the gym :cool1: Geez, I LOVE that man! :lovestruc

Okay, today was W2D3 of C25k. I hadn't slept all night, but surprisingly, it just wasn't as bad as I'd feared, though I was glad I'd eaten something beforehand and had water with me. I am beginning to think that I just haven't been pushing myself enough. I dont' want to get overly confident because next week's intervals look pretty tough, but I'm actually excited about the challenge.

Kevin -- Looking forward to seeing you at Jellyrolls Sunday night. Howard will be there too. I am trying to remember what other "eye candy" will be around. :cloud9:

Christa -- your friend is amazing! Thank you for sharing that race report.

TXAng - WOo hoo! Glad to hear I'm not a sclaker. I inflated my ball! :rotfl:

Debra - ROTFL! Ghiardelli's? :-D Oh, I si WISH you were coming! BTW, safety orange has left permamnent mental scars on me. College T-giving break. WOods at Grandmas. FOrced to wear an orange Elmer Fudd. Please, anything but orange. :guilty: (ROTFL. I just wrote Elmer Fudge. WHere is my brain???)

Cecelia - Very true words. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: Still praying fro your dad and your famliy. Will be thinkign of you Sunday!

Tracy - COol car!

Thanks of al the good WISHes! I WISH we could al lbe there!

Greetings Race Team -

Well, I'm pretty well packed. I asked the Minnie Gals if 16 tops was too much to take on a 7 day vacation and not one of them said no. :thumbsup2 So, there you have it.

Jackie - Oh that's funny! Well, actually it's not. :headache: When will it stop!?? Grrrr!!

Debra - Yet again, I :worship: to the comprehensiveness of your posts!!

Cecilia - OMG girl... You are SO sweet!!

MSDave
- Whooo hoooo! :woohoo: THAT fast and you haven't been doing much? Wow!

John (And Karen) - I'm totally jealous that Cam gets to be on a flight with you! :yay:

Kevin - Ohhh now, don't I feel special. :goodvibes I got TWO parts! Hee hee. What is MMA class and why were they shoving you up against a cage? :confused3 This sounds a little kinky to me. Oh poor Chance, he just didn't want you to give him away! What a good boy! (Chance, not you.) :rotfl:

Clair - Thoroughbreds! :thumbsup2

Judy...You can never carry too many clothes! lol!

So, If Official. I am flying out tomorrow. I printed my boarding passes this morning exactly at 9am! Yay! It's getting real now. If only I can get through work today!

I never did get cheese fries yesterday. I did get a cheese quesedilla. I think I spelled that wrong. Oh well.

All you other Minnie folks...Travel Safe!!!

Everyone else...Have a great weekend!
Stacie

Mmm, cheese fries. My one big indulgence at MK - chili cheese fries at Pecos Bills ... and a salad. Hey have to balance it out somehow! ;)

Greetings from sunny Orlando!!

Made it to WDW yesterday...let's hope the weather stays the same for this weekend...it's high 70s, low 80s...cool breeze and almost zero humidity :goodvibes:

I hope everyone is doing well...we'll try to check back with everyone later...gotta go park hop!!

Have a great day everyone!

Scott - OK, you've been there a day and that's all we get? Where's teh link to your blog? :guilty: ;) Hope you're having fun!

Goooood morning everyone. I'm feeling a bit blue today :sad2: , ugh this wedding is becoming really stressful, why does planning a wedding always make one stressed out!?

OK on to better things!

CB Michelle: Oh, the hydration thing is such a big deal. If I were to channel Cecilia (and I'm a poor substitute for her experience and wisdom), she would say that's one of the first things to consider if you're feeling fatiqued and sort. So I'm sure that had an effect. And don't forget to fuel. (I think runner's legs are sexy, no matter who they're on!)

Huh. I wouldn't have thought DVD could smell of smoke (not a smoker). I learn something new every day here on the DIS.

Do you run with water or Gatorade on you so that you can keep hydrated while running, especially on longer runs? I feel a headache today, and I'm wondering if its b/c I only had half a bottle of Gatorade with me for my run yesterday. This is difficult! lol. I went down by the water and met my friend to jog down there, and drank my Gatorade afterwards, but it was only half a bottle. I'm wondering if I should carry one with me to keep hydrated... oh and keep it full too! that would help. :rotfl:

Yea the pilates tapes smelled horribly of smoke. I don't smoke either, (I can't imagine anyone here being a smoker... how can you run if you are a smoker!?) so I was really surprised :confused3. Airing the tapes out outside really helped! :thumbsup2

CB Michelle – Sorry you were feeling under the weather on Monday. I wish I could forget to eat sometimes, even though I know it’s not good to do so. Glad you’re feeling better! Also, you are going to post a photo of the dress once you’ve decided for sure, right? :)

Thanks! I keep going up and down with this cold. I feel horrible again today and am considering taking another rest day, but I'm feeling great, running wise! It keeps getting easier and easier and I don't want to take a rest day. I'm sure a lot of people are going to yell at me and tell me to take it easy, but I really want to go for a jog tonight!!!

I will absolutely post pictures of my dress when I figure out how to post pics here!!!. lol I have NO idea how to do that. I'm lucky I figured out how to put a pic in my signature... btw I forgot how I did that... no idea what so ever... lol... and believe me, sometimes I don't forget to eat, like last night after our run we went to the diner b/c we were STARVING! I got a turkey wrap, which was DELICIOUS!
Also, I have a big workout ball that is deflated in a box... somewhere in my house... waiting to be used! :rotfl: What is it about those things that is so undesirable!?

As for me, I have some GREAT news! My mom decided to run the half with me!!!!! she signed up last night with Anthony Travel! WOO HOO!:woohoo: I was so worried that I wouldn't' have someone to run with and would be running all 13.1 miles all by myself... which would have been a bit boring. Although given that we're in Disney, how bored can one be?? lol ALSO, my *almost* SIL might run in it too! SO GREAT! She is going to talk to my brother and see if he wants to make a trip down there in Jan.!

I ran 3 and walked another mile for a total of 4 yesterday. I'm really building up! BUT, it was SO CHILLY by the water last night, and I think since I'm not 100% over this cold I am feeling a bit down today again. This stinks. I need to get better! To run tonight... or to rest... that is the question...

Keep up the good work everyone and again, GOOD LUCK To all the Minnie runners out there! Can't wait to hear how everyone did!!:cheer2:

Michelle

Not sure if its my place to say, but I got the Mickey sticker from Aloha Jeff. Just PM him and see if he has anymore. I don't know if he did them or he got them from somewhere. Looks good. I also put a WISH racing team sticker on my car last night after I got home from work, washed and waxed it!! I think I get XT for that!!

CosiMichelle - FOr longer runs adn in the summer, we run with a fuel belt with Powerade in Water. A headache is a sign of dehydration. I can get nasty ones from that. You must be properly hydrated before teh run, too, to be at your best. HTH!

Oh, boy! I hope everyone in WDW (and those going) are having fun! :cool1:

Good luck this weekend guys! :thumbsup2

Just back from an awesome massage! I think I found my girl! She really worked my quads. She was great! :woohoo:

Scott, she was at Massage Envy by Town Center if you ever want to try her out - $39 for first visit! Can't beat that!

With all my heart I hope they are wrong but they aren't not calliing for it to stay so "nice". Unfortunately supposed to get warmer and mcuh more humid. I was getting gas this am at 6 and it was soooo beautiful and cool and I kept thinking why can't this stay just 3 MORE DAYS!!!! :) Hope you guys are having a great time.

BTW - Tomorrow if you are at the pool and see a big guy with 2 little boys who have a WISH bag that's my fam. I will be at work :( - new job couldn't take off, but will be over around 5!!!

Kevin- The champion’s league games are on ESPN2 and EPSN Classic. The Euros this summer will also be on ESPN’s networks and ABC so I guess we can thank Disney for bringing us our fill of the beautiful game. There are also rumors that ESPN will be buying Setanta and if that happens I hope it will be easier to get.

Michelle- Good to hear the runs are getting easier. Don’t forget to get your fluids and fuel.

Debra- The EPL is probably the best soccer on Earth right now but Serie A is a lot of fun to watch. They definitely had an off year (then again, so did La Liga) but we’ll see how next year goes since it looks like Morinho will be in Italy or Spain next year. Now unplanned naps aren’t hard. Just stay up way too late and then the next day, sit down to watch something in a very comfortable chair…before you know it it is accidental nap time.:faint:

It’s great of you to step up for Cecilia, speaking of which…

Cecilia- Sorry to hear about your dad, I hope the chemo goes well and gets over as soon as possible. You are totally right about the start line too. I love the last couple of minutes before the start of a half.

Tracy- Very nice on the decals/license plate. I will be getting a red 26.2 to match my Red Mazda 3 5-Door once I finish a full marathon. I am also going to try and get a Live Strong decal for the front but I need to find a shop here that will make it in red instead of yellow.

TXang- If you have a blister (or even a cut) applying zinc oxide will dry it out quicker. It is the active ingredient in diaper rash cream if you happen to have some of that laying around. I get the generic stuff at Wal-Mart. It doesn’t really do anything for prevention though.

Michelle- If it is too hot out I do one of two things. First, I run a lot after dark. I love night running in the summer. Of course some people don’t feel safe doing this but where I live it isn’t bad. Second, I put some water in a cooler on my front porch and do a 2 or 3 or 4 loop run to grab some. I don’t like running with a belt but if you don’t mind it that is just as good of an option.

As far as I go yesterday was just weight training for me. Tonight will be a medium run, I’m thinking maybe a 10K or so. I have a 5K on Saturday.

I am still jealous of everyone at the Minnie.

Mmm, cheese fries. My one big indulgence at MK - chili cheese fries at Pecos Bills ... and a salad. Hey have to balance it out somehow! ;)

excellent! so the french fries I ate with my turkey wrap last night were balanced out right!? :rotfl:

excellent! so the french fries I ate with my turkey wrap last night were balanced out right!? :rotfl:

Most certainly! Plus I figure they're potatoes -- that's a vegetable. I add cheese and there's my dairy, vegetarian chili provides protein. Pretty good, huh? :rotfl:

Hi, to everyone!

Cecilia...thinking of you and your dad.

Good luck to all the runners/walkers/WISHers this weekend!

Can I post here and have you all make sure I stay on my fitness plan?...just now til May 15, then May 20-June 5 (have to take a break when I go to WDW...haha! I really tend to stick with things for about 10 days, then I'm all eating cupcakes and cookies and stuff.

Going to follow the plan from Jillian Michael's book "Making the Cut." The food plan doesn't look bad...the weight workouts are TOUGH! So make sure I'm sticking with it, please!
So far so good...But I've only been up for 9 hours...haha!

Mooshu just emailed me saying our EYE2EYE shirts just arrived in California today 5/1/08. She said the shirts run big in size. She ordered a men's medium v neck, and said it's loose on her.

WISHSHIRT2.jpg

WISHSHIRT1.jpg

I'll get my large from her, and let you all know.

Jackie: I suddenly have this vision of teens choosing their GF/BF--or parents expressing approval of their teens' SOs--based on their phone service! :lmao: I also want you to know that I exercised self-control on the Baskins-Robbins $.31 ice-cream deal, mostly because the line was HUGE. (I almost gave in, though, because your post made me think of my WISH duty.)

Dana: Given the excitement, I think you're handling taper and pre-race excitement quite well. You did lawn work, showered, and (I assume) left the house to meet your ILs. Woo hoo!!

Cam: Now, I don't know what to say. I'm glad you like the TAB--really, I am--but that you're kind of ignoring doctors' recommendation makes me want to jack slap you a little. In a loving, caring way, of course. I'm glad it doesn't seem to have any repercussions, though, so I have to believe you're really listening to your body AND your doctors. :) And I hope your congestion clears up and that flying doesn't involve discomfort.

Just tell your WW leader to talk to us about taper & carb loading. Better yet, let your pants do the talking! I'm so glad your W3D3 of C25K has got you excited for next week & will give you something to overcome the post-Minnie blues! (Not that I'm hoping you have any blues....)

Angie: I've had fever blisters like that--they do make you very self-conscious, don't they. I think resting (or, really, not exercising), along with the upcoming weekend, is very stressful for your body. I'm sure it'll pass soon, as everything gets even closer and you get caught up in the excitement. As for the princess shirt, WEAR IT!!!! It'll be fun, and isn't that what you've been order to concentrate on this weekend? ;)

Tracy: Yes, a NEW Lost is on tonight! :woohoo: I hope you can Tivo/DVR/tape it or have someone do it for you--I can't imagine you'll watch it before the Minnie. Or maybe it'll be restful for you, as you're not that far away from Orlando, right? *Sigh.* I so want to live in FL. Btw, I love the car & the decals. P.S. I can't remember--are you the person who has the shirt that matches your tag line: I know I'm a WALKER, but I just passed you!

TXAng: Your buy-a-pint of B&J's solution was just perfect. No one should be left out of the joy of ice cream. People in my life have sometimes disappointment me. But ice cream...never! How did W3D2 go?

Aloha "MKYFAN" Jeff: Congrats on choosing your new plates. Boo for the person who stole your "MKYMSE." And very cool of you, sharing your Mickey decal with Tracy. Very "Jeff" and generous of you.

So the Alert Shirts & Eye2Eye shirts run big, and the Race Ready shirts run small? This Goldilocks wonders if any shirts fit "just right." Or maybe a WISH shirt always fits just right--in spirit, anyway.

Cecilia: Thanks for stopping in. We're thinking of you and your dad. Tell the doctors and nurses we're grateful for all they do.

MB Michelle: WTG on your own tri-WO! That's impressive! :woohoo:

MSDave: Hmmm. Sweet, a little bit crunchy, with an unexpected tang--mmm, a texture-riffic ice cream. Lots of flavor, in classic combinations with just a bit of whimsy. Perfect. :thumbsup2 (Scott, I know you're not here, but I just analyzed Dave's personality via ice cream on your behalf. :rotfl2: ) Also, WTG with getting back on track with the training and good pace--especially impressive given your schedule. I'm still crossing my fingers for your interview/job situation to work out in the way you'd like.

John: I don't know that I've "met" you, but I love your challenge to the Goofy Challenge! DOOD & I will be back for the Goofy in 2010, too! But you can't have his butt--it's mine! :rotfl:

Kevin: I'm so glad you found your FTL route! :) I'm looking for mine, as I seem to be surrounded by hills. Good for training, not for speed (as if that makes much difference in my case.) What's MMA? The cage thing makes me think salacious thoughts. You don't have to clear those up though, as I'm having fun imagining the scenarios. I'm sorry you're going to miss so many people this weekend, but on the upside it sounds like your dance card is already booked for January.

Christa: Josh's RR is amazing--and his ability to remember details reminds me a lot of you. You both have the drive and determination to succeed!

Claire: I know you meant this statement:
So yesterday was a light day. Horseback riding in the morning, a skate in the afternoon, and a short spell in the climbing gym.
But...:scared1: :rotfl2: :worship: You never fail to impress me with your healthy lifestyle, in which being active for you is as natural as eating chocolate is for me. I need to challenge myself this summer to be more like you. (Seriously...except the chocolate has to stay, too.)

Carrie: Elmer Fudge? I'm stalking sundaes? Or maybe that should be banana splits. Ghiardelli's is is! Okay, no orange--although orange reminds me of Anne in January. I'll come up with something else horrific: zebra-print WISH shirts maybe? Say, you're volunteering for the 1/2 marathon, right? What stop? DOOD & I are volunteering for at least one of the January events too (doing the half) and need to choose what one.

Judy: Yes, I am a chatty Kathy, aren't I? You all tell me stories, I get to know you and remember names. And if I'm lucky, the odd blackmail opportunity arises from the tales. Hey, it's a living... I concur, btw. 16 tops is exactly the right number to take into account weather fluctuations, humidity, unexpected social occasions...

Stacie: Cheese...Gromit.:teeth: If there's anything I like better than ice chocolate, it's cheese. And chocolate cheese.... With wine. :drinking: I think you need to visit Epcot while you're there, sample the offerings of WS. And Liz is right about Pecos Bill's! Good traveling tomorrow!

Scott: Quit taunting those of who AREN'T going to be in Orlando and do some park-hopping on our behalf. Ride ToT for me, if you don't mind. :woohoo:

CB Michelle: I agree with Carrie that being well hydrated beforehand is important on all runs. That's the first thing I try to pay attention to. For really long runs, I have a belt with small bottles that hold water & Cytomax/Gatorade. I've also done caches on a route, when I had a regular route. For short runs where I want some water (heat, new route), I have a bottle with a hand strap--it lets my hand relax but I still have water with me. I hope this helps.

I'm looking forward to seeing your dress, and am sure you'll be a beautiful bride. Take a pic with bridal ears, if you have them already. I think it's so great that you and your DM are running the 1/2 together and maybe your FSIL, too. That gives you company on the course--although you have us, too--AND people to train with. (In my case, it's kick my lazy booty out of bed.) You're doing great with the training, btw! And so soon! :cheer2:

Shan: I'm SO glad you had a good massage. I take it your quads feel much more relaxed, maybe even sore? Never had a massage, so couldn't tell you. Will you be going back?

Frank: I'm all about watching football for fun, and follow the teams DOOD follows--keeps peace and harmony in the household. I'm hoping you and Craig will expand my horizon, though. Mourinho close to a deal with Inter Milan, isn't he? Maybe I'll just settle down in a comfortable chair while I wait for the news...

Betsy: I think we'd do our best by you, although I'm better at encouraging the cupcakes. But I could "man up" for you, as I do want the best for you--and you invoked Jillian, whom I love!

As for me: Nothing much. I have my spring cold, and I'm sulking because I'm not going to the Minnie. Plus, I've gotten a slew of of Action Sports International emails, taunting me with my ever-so-attractive photos of the Goofy. All these signs, plus my AP, says I should be going to Orlando. But noooo. It's just not to be. I'm going to sit here in my lonely corner, all red-eyed and sniffly, and...

SEND TONS OF PD TO ALL MY WISHER BUDDIES!!!! I KNOW YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT TIME! pixiedust:  :cheer2: :grouphug:
(Bring me back a lousy t-shirt, huh?)

Betsy - Hey!! I have that book. I am the exact opposite of you though. The workouts look easy... it's the food that I just look at and thing "BLECH!". Then again I have two children and a husband that would look at me like I had no head on if I offered them some of this food. Heck, I just got them eating fish and whole gran foods. I'll tell you what though, if you want a partner we might be able to work something out. I'll keep on you about the workouts, if you keep on me about healthier food. I'm not promising "her" food!!

Debra - Holy Cow!! I can't believe how long some of your responses are. I am usually pretty good, but you just blow me away!! I did eventually get dressed and out of the house for dinner with the in-laws. Almost wish I hadn't though. We ended up at Golden Corral. Let me tell you, an All You Can Eat is not the place you wanna take me when I'm nervous!! I swear I weighed 149 yesterday morning and this morning I was at 155. What's up with that?! Maybe that chocolate cake!!

Well.... I am starting to feel lonely. It seems as if everyone who is going to Minnie has left already but me. Today I found a way to distract myself from the computer so I could get some house work done. I put on my iPod and danced my way around the house while I cleaned!! Got quite a bit done, and the day went by pretty fast. Let's hope I can do the same tomorrow. I don't get to leave for the Minnie until Saturday morning!!
