Wk of Apr 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

OK, here's my attempt to catch up with everyone:

First of all, Christa- I WISH you all the best for your upcoming health screen. I hope everything works out OK. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Mel/Chimera- Great job on your run! And good luck beating DD14 this weekend. I can't wait to hear how that turns out. It's so great that you are both running together. I love "It", it's one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it so many times. Maybe it's about time to read "It" again.

Martha- Mmmm, pistachio almond fudge was soooo good. Hey, where's that Elf picture? Have a great time in Florida. Have fun with the race. You got your shoes, right?

disnutt- I don't envy you cutting that ivy. Sounds tough.

Carrie- I'm so glad your leg is feeling better. Let's hope the inserts fix all your troubles.

Minnie- Great job getting off your duff and putting 3 miles in. Congratulations!!!

Jackie- I remember mandarin chocolate sherbert. It was the worst flavor ever!!! It was black and gross!!! Did you work there when they came out with the ice cream that had liquor in it? They had almond amaretto, kahlua and cream, and two others. Mmmm, they were yummy, and they cost extra too - like french vanilla and chocolate fudge. Are you on the TM now?
Although I am not a big Long Island iced tea fan.
I am more of a sex on the beach fan - the :drinking1 kind!
Kristi- :lmao: :lmao: Have fun at Minnie - I can't wait to hear your stories.

Mike/Optimator- Good luck with the Frederick Marathon too. Congratulations on your first full marathon. WTG! You are going to do fantastic! Wow, you didn't miss 1 run during your training? You are so well-prepared. You are going to do awesome!

Steve and Krista- See you this weekend. Oh and Steve, yeah, I'm having phantom pains too. I keep thinking my shins are hurting, my knees are hurting, etc. I think it is because I'm tapering.

Melissa- Just wanted to say hello. Do you and Phil have any adventures planned for this weekend?

Colleen- Speaking of adventures, have fun camping this weekend. Hopefully I can catch up with you at some other race this year.

Kevin- How are you doing out there in Michigan? We don't hear from you much lately. Hope all is well in your world.

Stopping by to get my daily inspiration! I've got to do the TM again today while my daughter does her running class. I would really rather be running at the park but I'll take what I get and be happy with it as my dear father suggested so often.

Dave- Your princess: princess: are doing great! Cutting that ivy was tough that's why I volunteered to do it instead of letting DH do it. I wanted the exercise.:rotfl: DH didn't complain. He just brought me water like I imagine bekkiz's Esteban doing during LRs!

Shan- For the short ride up issues I've found that those tight/compression shorts work for me. They aren't the most flattering for my body type but they stay down and help me avoid chub rub. I've ordered a running skirt because it sounds like it will help hide the sausage leg look while still providing the rash guard of the compression shorts. I do love running in winter because I don't have to worry about the shorts.

Minnie- Great job on your run! I get inspired by everyone here on a daily basis to get out and do something.

Carrie- Hope the insert helps.

Mike--I just want to say WOW on not missing any of your training in this past 18 weeks. You are so prepared! I can remember missing my 20 miler b/c I got sick and got so down--but everything worked out in the long run (pun intended) Can't wait to read a full report when I get back! Oh, and I'll have one of those yummy beers for you!

Christa--PD and prayers coming your way today!

Nothing much to report from me--going to running clinic today, gonna try that new skirt out:thumbsup2

Good luck to all the Pig and Minnie people! Sending pixie dust so you will have clear skies and cool breezes.

Mike/Optimator: special good wishes to you for your very first full marathon.......we will be anxiously awaiting your report!

Looks like it's going to be a busy weekend for alot of folks......can't wait to hear all the accounts when you get back.

Jeanne

I went on a morning walk w/ my virtual training buddy (I really feel like I should give him a name....like Esteban or maybe Donald :lmao: )

My sister and I have also "named" our virtual partners: hers is Sven and mine is Lars in honor of the Swedish personal trainers we will have when we hit the lottery :rotfl2:

For those of you doing the Minnie - be aware that Sven, Lars and their other Garmin brethren seem to lose signal when you go into the costume tunnel section in MGM, so may be a little off in your pace/distance reading after that point. :confused3

Well, my legs should be well and rested for the Pig, not counting the 1 mile stonker on Monday, I haven't run since my 5K on Saturday. :sad2: I've had a major case of LTO this week and just haven't had time to run. But my house sure is clean!! :laundy:

Christa--Praying for you today!

Martha--I would LOVE to see you dressed as an elf! Good luck this weekend!

Mel--Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you knock the socks of Kaylee with your lightening speed!!!!!!

Stephanie--I see a Target run in my future! I'd love to have a running skirt for the Pig on Sunday.

Mike/Optimator--Good luck on Sunday! I always have a terrible taper, that's why I'm not too concerned about not running this week. If you don't run, you can't have a bad run! :thumbsup2

Melissa--How is your puppy? What's her name?

Dave--I am getting so excited for the Pig!!!! We are going to have such a great time. Should I figure out where the closest BR is for you? Or do you want to go to Graeters and get some real ice cream?! ;) ;)

Colleen--We're going to miss you this weekend!! If you change your mind at the last second, we've got an open bedroom you can use. :)

Jackie, I too am so envious of these Minnie and Flying Pig runners! I can't stand it! :sad2: DH keeps telling me to find other marathons to do besides Disney, but I don't think I could possibly stand seeing everyone get ready for WDW marathon in January without me! :grouphug:

Have fun, travel safe and I want to see lots of pics!

Last night my DD and I packed for our Girl Scouts Camporee trip this weekend. I need buy two things today. I need one of those refillable water bottles with a strap you can carry across your body. I also need one of those mesh or nylon bed roll bags, sort of like the old. green, army canvas bagrolls. Does anyone know where I could find thoses? I went to Dick's and the nylon gear bags were too small.

All the best to everyone this weekend!

Colleen

Oh, Krista, Krista, Krista, my heart skipped a beat starting to think if I could pull this off! I almost went to travelocity to search for flights, but it is not to be.

shan--the running skirts were on a rack with some Champion swimwear. There were also some cute black and pink tanks that they had to go with the skirts. They were $19.99--I got a medium and it's a little big--but super cute!

I'll have to go back and look then! Were these skorts with the shorts underneath?

Okay, NOOOOO chance of catching up with everyone, but know I am thinking of all my WISH teammates. I am getting ready to leave tomorrow morning. WTO totally this week and I may just end up here in the office till all hours of the night.

Just had to post this for Vic, since I promised him yesterday (but ran into a problem with Ritz pix):

Okay, Vic, so what were you doing outside the quaint little diner in Woodbury, NJ on April 21 at about 12:30 a.m.? I looked for you everywhere but, alas, no Big Vic!

Thanks everyone for the prayers. Basicly I am havinging a Diagnostic (sp?) Mamogram (SP?) and ultrasound. I found a lump in my breast and the doctor is wanting to be on top of it b/c of my family history. I am not too worried though...I just want it to be over so I can know if I can sign up for the Grandfather Mountain Maraton or not.

I ran today to get out energy! 7.6 miles in 1:04. for an ave 8:25 pace. I actually started out around 8MPM then JRTs stops slowed me down.

I was undercover as a Rockette that week, and I was out having a late night snack. Yeah, that's it, a late night snack. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Christa- it seems like you have a really, healthy attitude about all this. Hopefully it is nothing. I'm glad you're not too worried. We're all thinking of you, pulling for you, and WISHing you all the best. You go girl on that Grandfather Mountain Marathon!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Christa,
I had the exact same tests less than a month ago. They're quick and easy. (Typical mammo discomfort, but that goes without saying.) For me, the nice part was the doc provided her conclusion to me right then and there. No waiting for the results to reach my PCP or Gyn. I hope you get the same. If not, it doesn't hurt to ask for it. Good luck. :wizard:

Oh, don't be surprised if they put you on a 6-month mammo schedule for the foreseeable future. That's what they did for me. :)

Christa -- Keeping you in my prayers. I am so grateful that you have such a positive spirit!

Likely story!!!
We had just seen my nephew starring as Javert in "Les Miz" at a nearby school :thumbsup2 and then took DSAndrew & his two best friends who were with us to a diner for late night cheeseburger, french fries, onion rings & cheesesteaks. We spotted your getaway vehicle when we were leaving the diner in the wee hours of the morning.

ETA: Oh, and by the way? Woodbury is not Woodbridge. Woodbury is too far south for anyone to commute to practices for Rockette performances. Got a better story to offer? :lmao:

Christa: I too had the same procedure within the last 6 months, so maybe it's not that uncommon. The nurse gave me the results right away too, so no extra worrying. Hope all goes well for you.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

Cindy
