DD wants to have a Wizard of Oz theme for her birthday which is great - except that to invite her school class it has to be the entire class - which is great - except that means BOYS and girls - which is great except that all the goody items cater to girls. :) So do you guys have any great inspirational goody bag items Wizard of Oz themed for boys???

Umm....something edible? Like witch or monkey (flying monkeys) candy? Or you could give them green goo and say it's the melted Wicked Witch...rain sticks (for the tornado and storm?), a bunch of silver stuff and call them "Tin Man Bags" or something...like silver pencils, candy with silver wrappers, face paint, pens, notebooks,

or, you could not do a goody bag theme, but do something like a "Flying Monkey Hunt," and have them all "fly" out of your house into the backyard, and grab all of the candy they can see....or you could say that you had their goody bags together before they got there, but a twister came through and scattered everything around the yard...so they have to put them back together....and you could play the twister music from the movie as they run around searching for stuff....

yea! I did one a couple of years ago, keep the goodies cheap and wrap small candy bars in foil, I found wizard of oz bags on ebay. I made a sign for the front door "Bell out of order Please knock" only the people who knew the movie understood it,:rotfl2: I used alot of balloons and found just blue plaid pattern for tablecloth, Ohh and I used the driveway and wrote quotes from the movie in chalk like what the witch wrote in the sky, we just had alot of fun with it there are so many different wizard movies, you can use some from each movie, (muppets, the wiz, tin man, return to oz)

You could give them all HUGE swirled lollypops with ribbons tied around them from the Lollypop Guild.

We just did a Wizard of Oz themed birthday for my daughter! We did cupcakes with rainbow icing. The goody bags had rainbow swirled lollipops (to represent the lollipop guild), bubbles (to represent the bubble that Glinda arrives in), small candy hearts (for the Tin Man's heart), and silver/green pencils.
My favorite part was the cake! DD and I made this and it was pretty easy!

Oh what CUTE ideas. DD will be turning 5. We have a teensy tiny house (about 800 square foot) so I will be having her friends party at our local gymnastics gym where DD takes classes. They do a great job - I will have to ask if there will be another party that will overlap with DD's - if not then I can do some really CUTE decorating (the bell out of order please knock sign would definitely be awesome) and I'll have to see if we can play music. GREAT ideas on the goody bags....I really like the "twister" idea and them gathering stuff up.

I LOVE the cake.....I'm thinking about having a separate gathering with family and doing a cake. Right now I'm thinking cupcakes in a rainbow shape and decorated (you know how they set the cupcakes together and decorate as a unit) to make it easier since we only have 30 minutes in the party room.

Thanks again for the ideas - don't hesitate to add more.

My neighbor had a Wizard of oz party. She gave out bags of animal cookies that had a tag tied to them that said, "lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" It was really cute and pretty simple.

Denily, can you tell me how you made that Wizard of Oz cake? It loooks like something my daughter would just love!

Thank you!

With Halloween coming up, you should be able to find all kinds of stuff. Also, at our McDonalds they have the Madame Alexander dolls in the happy meals which can also be purchased for a dollar. I would use lots of green balloons and party supplies, also you could make little diplomas "graduating from the birthday party", and tie a red ribbon around it like they did for the scarecrow. scarecrow and witches hat cookie cutters. Maybe you could find some materials to make the witches broomstick or the tin-mans ax. Just a few ideas!

Thanks for the continued ideas - definitely keep them coming - especially party favors for boys. I knew dd had a lot of boys in her class but I got the class list today and their are 12 boys & 5 girls (including DD). I think I'm going to invite the children from her class last year too because I'm concerned that we won't have many boys wanting to come. What do you guys think?
