Non-Disney Online Games (Wizard 101) Quest Tips & Help Thread!

Do we know when the Pay to Play model will come out? Are they accepting payments now? Or are we still in "BETA" and free to advance and move around?

Oh and I reused my old name of "Amber Jadesong" and now she's a Life/Fire. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. :)

Is there another DIS Board Meeting coming to re add friends?

no pay model yet, you are free to move about the cabin :)

Looks like it will be coming soon however, and yes we should have another meet soon. I only have a couple of peeps now

P.S. what are the odds that I became the HERO OF UNICORN WAY again?!?!

Nope, just that time yes. hehe - it's Friday before a holiday I am allowed my blonde moments gosh!!

Yeah, but I tried to add you to my friends list when you were near the Krok library. Unless there's another Julia Summersong, you totally dissed me.

And to Mims and the rest who have had people jump in:

I don't mind people jumping in if they actually FIGHT. During my first trip to Kroktopia, I had a player jump in and just let the timer count down to zero. All the monsters would ignore him and hit me. He got the benefits of victory with zero effort, and it made me pretty infuriated. If he had at least chosen cards to help me, I wouldn't have minded as much.

My newest annoyance is a girl who I befriended and later regretted it. The problem is that she wants to help, but she is nowhere near the Krokotopia level. She wants to get stuff and XP, and I humored her. As she followed me all around Palace of Fire and such, she did survive fights by behind 3rd or 4th to jump in, and I took hits as "bait" in the 1st position.

But she was my downfall in the Map Room instanced fight. Alienoutlawz (ok, Sean in Wizards) was helping me, and I missed out on a potential clothing or item drop because she got pulled into a fight, and I jumped in to save her from getting killed. It didn't work, because we added too many enemies that I couldn't fend off to save either her or myself. If she had been leveled high enough to fight, it wouldn't have been an issue.

Now this poor kid will be sad if I delete her, and yet I can't afford to have her puppydog me at every fight when she's not even supposed to be in Kroktopia yet.

I am suprised they let you follow people to lands your not permitted to enter on your own. Perhaps this is something they will discontinue when the game goes live

Earlier today I was playing and stepped away from the computer for a few moments. When I returned there was a message box saying I had been reported and something to the effect that inappropriate language and behavior will not be tolerated. Has anyone else gotten this type of message? Thing is, since the wipe on Friday, I haven't spoken to anybody in the game. I did send a message to staff via the forums and hopefully will get an answer soon regarding this. I'd hate to think I have a strike against my account when I haven't done anything.

Love that name. How do you think Life/Fire would match up with Myth/Life?

I had one like that last week, but the wipe took care of him. That's the only reason i was happy about the wipe lol.

I have not experienced it myself, but from what I read from the Wizard forum, they review the report. If it is unfounded, they will punish the person who makes a false report.

I have not heard yet of any ban or warning being given yet.

Can you keep us informed if you get any kind of notification?

Thanks

I don't see what the problem is with that is. So what if someone who is in Krokotopia wants to play with a friend in Marleybone? They just have to be mature enough to know that they are there on their own terms, at their own risk, and that they shouldn't expect others to help them if they get pulled into fights.

I don't have a problem with friends in other lands fighting with me...I do have an issue with them or anyone being able to just jump into fights. There have been many, many, many times I have either been almost done or almost dead when someone on my list or a stranger just jumps into my fight. I try to be respectful and ask if I may join their fight, and message my friends before coming to see them. I just wish there was an option 'can so and so join your fight?' sent to the owner of the fight...the first person in the circle. That would make it SOoooooo much better for all involved. One reason being a boss battle, if there are 2 people as opposed to 3, you might get 2 people to fight or 4. If the 3rd person shows up into your fight at the end of it another 2 enemies miraculously show up. That stinks if you are after a book or need to talk to someone in the room after the fight.

I hear ya, but I just see it as a springboard to advancing in the game. Teamwork is great, but its not teamwork when someone is springboarding their XP at the others expense.

Just my thing I guess, just think you need to put your time in like the others did even if it means lagging behind. I by no means am implying people shouldn't help eachother. I needed help just tonight with Achilies and Mims was kind of enough to give me a hand :)

I have ALWAYS asked if someone needed help or if I might join them. There are a number of players who just like to solo through for whatever reasons and I can respect that. I'm also getting tired of seeing people standing on the sidelines waiting....like vultures, for your battle to be nearly finished and THEN jump in. They rarely even need to cast anything to reap all the rewards from your hard work.

To SorcererRocks: I have been reporting people recently for foul language. No, you weren't one of them. LOL I did, however, receive a response from Wizard 101 reassuring me that ALL reports are checked out, chat logs reviewed, etc. before ANY actions are taken.
Here is a copy of that response:

Hi there,

Don't fret overly much, we have a very powerful crystal ball that allows us to see all that occurs in Wizard City and beyond, we can confirm all accusations. I will go over the chat logs and take appropriate action to make sure that these players are stopped from harassing other players like you. Thank you very much for letting us know and providing the screen shot of the inappropriate behavior.

Please let us know if you see any more inappropriate behavior.

To BriarRosie: Julia SummerSong could have been mid-crash, too. I've seen it happen with some other friends of mine. They are standing in front of me not saying a word for quite some time, then...poof! Another issue could be that it was an automatic reaction to click 'reject'. I do it all the time if I'm looking for something or running somewhere. If I see that box pop up, I click 'reject' without even noting who sent it. I'm certain you weren't dissed by a Dis.

Before the very first wipe, I used to play with AZCat in Marleybone even before I got to Krokotopia. While I had a lot of fun, the XP was pretty bad. I don't know if that's still the case, but there was really no statistical benefit to jumping ahead.

(Sorry about the typo in my previous post)

A few minutes after I was "born again", I was standing by our lake and someone kept trying to trade with me. I didn't have anything to trade. It was shortly after that I received a message that I had been reported. Guess I'll go back to my VMK ways and never accept a random trade request. Even though they look at the logs, it can be upsetting.

Even though I've played above my level before, and I enjoyed getting the little bit of 'extra' xp, I played it more to break up the game and make it more interesting. Also, like today it helps to knock some of the quests down so you can concentrate on other stuff.

Both Fly and myself helped my sister out at Krokosphinx for the Emperor's Retreat which was her last thing to do there. Of course while we were there we did collect our other Scarabs there and then we jumped to her on the Island of Storms and did those too. Nothing like making a little hay while the sun shone! (or storm blew in this case lol)

But, there are times when it is nice to be able to break up what you are doing and go do something else then come back to your area. Believe, me those dratted Hammer guys in the Royal Hall who didn't want to drop the hammers for us made it seem like 'forever' in there! :rotfl:

Aengus, did you read my post? It said "I'm unsubscribing" not "I'm taking your number off of my speed dial."

JUMPING IN ON ATTACKS

When you are doing the smaller little - Attack 4 Fire Elves - style fights. You actually have to hit one of them to get credit for the attack. So if people just jump into a fight and don't do anything they don't get credit. This has backfired on me a few times because people get in ahead of me in line and take out the beasty before I get a chance to get a shot in. Oh well. Technically I'm fighting their battle. :)

So, I think it's only the instanced area where you get the credit for the team.

I've been known to be wrong before though. :)

RANDOM TRADES

As for the comment about someone trading out of the blue. I added a friend because they helped me fight a battle and I thought they were friendly. As soon as I added them as a friend they gave me some crap trades. :( Oh well, another part of the game. :)

NEW FRIEND CHAT

Does anyone know a whole lot about this new "True Friend" Chat? It seems like it is a replacement for the old "Secured Chat". I was hoping it would allow you a little more flexibility in chatting.
