Non-Disney Online Games (Wizard 101) Quest Tips & Help Thread!

Rather than setting up groups in advance, I have decided to sort of see who shows up. For those that are interested, we will meet on the Rainbow Bridge in the Commons of the Flamea Realm, Area 1 at 11 am and 2 pm (eastern). From there, we will break into groups and find the Grubb.

Some things to think about when fighting as a team:

1) Try to have all of the members of your group are on your friends list, not completely necessary but it will make things easier.

2) Make sure that you have full potion bottles before starting the quest.

3) Make sure that your 2D Combat Display is turned on - this is under settings. There are some bad guys that cannot be targeted in the normal way. Having the 2D Display allows you to target them by selecting the symbol above their name. This mode also allows you to see what your teammates are doing - which spell they are going to use and who they are targeting.

4) If you are in a fight, be aware of the health of your teammates. If someone is getting low, a sprite, fairy, unicorn, satyr or shield is often very appreciated.

5) If someone has placed a trap or convert X to y prism on a bad guy be aware and try not to use it on a basic wand spell. While they are meant to be shared, try to use it on a lvl 3+ spell to take full advantage of the trap or prism.

6) In the event that someone dies or needs to map out and heal, wait until they come back before advancing to the next task. This is so that everyone gets the experience points for the task.

7) When fighting bad guys in order to complete a task, target the helpers before going after the main bad guy. The reason for this is that the helpers usually have a lower health point total and can be taken out quickly. Working in this manner will help cut down on the number of spells that are sent back towards your group.

8) If someone is defeated in the middle of a fight with a boss, try not kill the boss until they return. As a group, you want to make sure that everyone gets credit for completing the task without having to repeat it.

9) Have fun, good luck and see you on Saturday

I did as everyone suggested and uninstalled the game from my computer. Then I went back to reinstall the game from the download page.

I am still getting the solution 123 error. :sad1:

I give up. I guess I won't be playing until they can handle the server load, I guess. That was what they were telling me in email. Sigh.

Edit: Whoa. Something worked. But I'm back in my original clothing. And while it's saying I'm still an Adept, it wouldn't let me back into the Oasis as if I was too "young". Did I lose all my hard work playing all this time?? It's still loading "shared_world data". I'll have to wait and see.

No, you just have to wait for everything to download. Your clothes and everything will come back then.

Briar, same thing happened to me! When I finally got back in late this morning, I was a Level 22! I was so proud yesterday when I finally leveled up to 23. I know it's Beta, but rats!:confused3

It's pretty simple. :)
Anyone else need to do it? We will have 1 more space with Dragon Girl, Cheryl and myself.

I am so, so, so, so bummed!! My phone was ringing off the hook from 4-6:30 (PDT) so I couldn't get on! I don't know when I can try again. It's going to be a looong and busy weekend! :sad1:

I have good news and bad news. The good news was that I did finally get back on.

The bad news is, when I tried to load the Barracks, it wouldn't load properly. So I got caught in an infinite loop because it wanted me to join that area....which wasn't loaded.

So I tried to uninstall and reinstall again....and I'm back to solution 123.

AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

There. I feel much better.

Can someone remind me what it takes to get the doors open to fight the four princes in the K palace?

There's a boss battle adjacent to every room that is before a closed door. Defeat the boss and that door will open. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I'm going to be helping with some Grubb runs this morning/afternoon. I think we are going to do the Beguiler with AlienNation (Sean Lifegiver) tonight. Idk what my tomorrow is going to be like. I need to pack because I'm leaving on vacation next weekend. (Not that OCD about packing, but I have to pack here to go home and pack during the week!) :P

Give me a time and we will see if we can help. I know Cheryl and Padric are both willing to help.

Last night I had the same thing happen with my laptop. It was wanting to download the newest built but instead was erroring out. I restarted my laptop and it still gave me the same error. I noticed that Windows was running a life update at the same time. Soooooooo I stopped the update, and anything else that could be sucking RAM or broadband, the tried again. This time it was able to download the build and let me in. I have 20mb download times and it still took a while to download.
I know that isn't a 'help' but just telling you that there are issues all around.
Best of luck to you Briar.:wizard:

******REMEMBER*******
Grubb runs today like AZCat outlined.
11am Eastern
2pm Eastern

Meeting Rainbow Bridge, Falema Realm.

We have 3 leaders available, so please come even if you didn't tell Padric you wanted to participate.

Is anybody having trouble with the game asking you to do a completed task more than once? I'm in EMperor's Retreat. Shalek asks me to defeat the two Skowki princes. I did. Then the server crashed. I went in again and defeated both prisoner's. This morning it logged me in to the door outside Emperor's retreat. (I don't think I quit there last night). Went in. Saw SHalek. And yup! He asked me to go defeat those two princes again. SInce I did these two routines s few days ago when I was doing the Emperor's circuit, if I have to go again it will be the fourth time killing those guys!

Actually I went to emperor's retreat just because I could not get the doors of the four princes in the Karakan Plance to open and I thought there might be a clue in there.

Any thoughts? Anybody else having these "recycling" problems?

There are some 'instances' you have to complete in full. If you don't complete, it resets. That is one of those instances. Just like Grubb was in Wizard City. You will find even more of them in Marleybone.

Ah! And then you realize that after all that, beating them that is, later you realize you didn't get that scarab while in there and have to go beat those princes all over again to get back in there to get it! :rotfl: Been there, done that.:(:lmao:

Hey! I don't know about the quest you are on, but I had that happen with the Map Room quest. I completed the entire sequence, found the right place on the map, clicked to interact and the dude in the map room made me do it all over again. I was just glad it wasn't too intense a quest and redid it in a short time.

Oh, joy...hah. Thanks for the warning! I'm not anywhere near Marleybone yet, but it's starting to sound like a scary kind of place! I wish Wizard would place some kind of notice on those longer series of quests that must be done in one shot. We have a HUGE advantage over other players who don't have a network of friends to help them. A warning note from the first NPC that issues the quest would be a tremendous help to anyone who knows they won't have the time or people to finish. That would give us all the option to accept the quest or leave it for another time without having it sit in our quest lists for a month. LOL

Actually they have posted on their forums this:
- Some of the areas are "encounters" which means that they are intended to be tackled by a group all at once. This is why they reset when you leave them. They often include puzzles and custom monster spawners and triggered events, which is why they reset. To keep them from resetting, at least one of your team mates should remain inside.

Good rule of thumb: If you enter by a countdown, x marks the spot, entrance, then everything behind that door is an 'instance' or 'encounter' that must be finished before exiting.

Also, for those of us finished or close to finishing Marleybone:
- MooShu is in testing, but very (very) close to being made accessible.
- Dragonspyre will come shortly after release.

Yes, I read the forums, but not daily and I would never remember which quests are a series of quests by the time I came to them. lol I'm just thinking of the kids who don't bother with the forums. Maybe some are shy and don't like asking for help, that kind of thing.
Also, some warning that it's going to take hours to complete, maybe most of the day, would be helpful in determining whether or not to ever start that quest. I think the NPC who issues that quest should give some indication it's going to be extra long and you cannot leave after a tower is completed, but must complete the entire series of towers. The Grubb quest does state to have your friends join you, but not that it will take about two hours to finish or that it will reset if you leave for lunch or bedtime. Heh.

Would people who know this game be so kind to help my and hubby out with a few questions.

1) we both got a flask that can be used as extra life so we do not need to reload. How do we fill it.

2) Where do you find the smith's they seem to be in every room but have no idea where to look

3) The extra cards not in the starter deck how do we use them. Is it better to use the insulated wand or not seems to give poor magic.

4) how do you tell if you have the best magic clothes on?

5) I chat in game how do I know people are actually seeing what I am saying.

6) I am doing Golem towers is there a way to replenish you magic and mana since I have to go all the way to the top and keep dying.

Thanks for helping :)

Would people who know this game be so kind to help my and hubby out with a few questions.

1) we both got a flask that can be used as extra life so we do not need to reload. How do we fill it. Play the mini games in the fair or pay the lady in the front to fill your flasks.

2) Where do you find the smith's they seem to be in every room but have no idea where to look Hehe! Its part of the fun to search. We can advise, but you should just explore to find them.

3) The extra cards not in the starter deck how do we use them. Is it better to use the insulated wand or not seems to give poor magic. The gold cards you add in the deck under 'p'. Then you discard and hit draw to pull a random card from what you have loaded. The insulated or any other wand will just give whatever is listed 45 or 60. Use what you have until you get another better wand wand. Obviously the wand can be resisted by a member of that school.

4) how do you tell if you have the best magic clothes on? Check each individual tab...hat...wand...comparing what you have on (in the far left box) with what you have in your inventory. Blacked out you will not be able to use either because wrong school or wrong level.

5) I chat in game how do I know people are actually seeing what I am saying.
No way really unless they don't respond. You can ask them.

6) I am doing Golem towers is there a way to replenish you magic and mana since I have to go all the way to the top and keep dying. I would wait until you are in Krok and have 2 flasks of potion. You will get a second vial when you start your second land. You can't leave the instance and you can't have health from outside or help inside. So heal during the match or potion as needed between floors.

Thanks for helping :)

You are welcome.

Yes, I wish there was a way to private message mailbox since there is no chat history. Otherwise, your chat may get lost if the person is working on a quest.

One Grubb run down :) took less than 2 hours... Yay!

I can't lead the 2nd run this afternoon at 2pm, but Cheryl has graciously offered to lead. She will meet you like Padric arranged.

See you tonight if anyone needs to do the Beguiler Run in Krok:wizard:
