Allow me to set up the scene as it plays into my tale:

I was in the Single Rider line at Rock-n-Roller coaster and saw the Dream Squad. I was standing right at the door where all three lines converge (FP, Stand-By and Single Rider). The room (I guess you could call it a corrall) is the old queueing area where they had the tape machines and right before the last queue area in front of the doors before you enter the studio. The dream squad (there were 3) were in the corrall next to the stand-by gate. They were looking at their watches.

At 11:10 they sprung into action. All three went to the doorway from the corrall to the ramps (you know how you make that right turn to get to the studio doors? That doorway). One went to the left and the other two went to the right. One of the guys on the right went to the doorway and then pointed at this guy in a red t-shirt, who was standing directly beneath the top of the doorway. They then proceeded to hand out FP lanyards to everyone from him BACK to the corrall. They handed out about a dozen or so people. Good for them.

Here is the interesting part. The guy's girlfriend was to his left, and therefore already in the studio entrance queue. She did not get a lanyard, even though her boyfriend (I am assuming relationship here) got one. So by chance, and where she stood and he stood, he got one and she didnt. I saw them protest, but to no avail. I could see the Dream Squad member telling them that their instructions were for the doorway back only (I couldn't hear what was said, but arm gestures gave me a good guess).

I applaud the Dream Squad for following the rules to the letter, but the fact that he got one and she didn't kind of screws up the intent of getting the dream, doesn't it? With his lanyard, he can go on any attraction listed without waiting. She can't. How much fun is that?

I would think they could make an allowance for the rest of a given party outside the window to get one. Or at least one other in the case that the lucky person is the last of a party of 10. Now he can walk on any ride he wants and she has to either wait or get a regular FP herself, and then they could go on together. But if that's the case, then why does he have the lanyard, he can get a regular. Although I suppose he could use his ticket to get her aa FP for one ride and then hers for another without waiting for the window to reopen.

Has anyone else seen this? Did I even see this correctly? I just found the whole thing odd. :confused3

Last year when DH & I went we were awarded dream fastpasses, I was so happy. There was a family in the line and 2 of the children were at the washroom and the dream team gave them 2 extra dream fastpassses..I can't remember if it was when the kids got back or before hand :confused3 I was just that excited that I was being awarded a "dream" (I was jumping in the line..lol) I guess it depends really. I think that she should have gotten one too, they were together. Anyways thats my .02 cents!

We got fast passes in Dinoland, at the time my husband and two sons were not with us, they were on Everest. DD asked for Fast Passes for them and they gave them to her...

DH and DS got dream Fast Passes on Star Tours last year but they didn't bother to tell the Dream folks that I was outside! Don't know what would have happened, but from all of the posts I have read since then I believe they would have gotten an extra one so our family wouldn't have been split up. (As it turned out DH went back to the hotel for a nap and I stayed at MGM with DS and used DH's dream Fast Pass.)

I can see how that would make the couple angry.

My DDs and I won FPs on Space Mountain in Nov. My DH was outside waiting for us. We didn't think to ask for one for him. :lmao: (I just shared mine with him.)

We got the dream fastpasses over t-giving coming off the tom sawyer island at WDW MK

We won FP at Dinoland in Dec & 2 other members in our party recieived them also--the Dream Team saw them come up to us & proceeded to hand them out .:thumbsup2

My friend and her daughter got fastpasses and asked for 2 for her and her friend they said no. She just went to customer service in epcot and asked and they gave her two others so now they all had them.
I have heard a of a lot of ppl getting extras when the ppl arent there to take to them.

I agree with OP. Not to sound like sour grapes, but what kind of dream is it when not everyone in your group receives it? They should have used a little pixie dust, and made an allowance for his GF.

I agree. It's no fun if you're a couple and just 1 of you has FPs for the headline attractions. A little pixie dust would have went a long way into making that day special for the couple to enjoy together.

At Epcot, my son was building his robot and I was walking around through the arch where they were handing them out. I said I my son was playing over there, do I have time to get him. They opened a bag and gave me an additional one and said they could give me one of these for him. It appeared as though there are a few extras that can be handed out if needed, that are not part of the actual give away.

In Sept I had gone to get Fastpasses for the Safari and the rest of my party were in Dinoland and won fastpasses (Anyone else think that Dinoland is a very popular place to win?). My friend BEGGED and PLEADED for a fastpass for me but they wouldn't give her one. Instead, they waited 15 minutes until I came back and gave one to me!!!

Then my daughter traded pins with them and they left.

The CM that your daughter pin traded with is Eric. He's a VERY nice Dream Squad member who goes out of his way for the guests. He was great to my wife & me when we were there in October. Good for you!

Enjoy the Magic!

Well, first question: Where they lanyards or fastpasses? Because these are 2 different prizes.

Lanyards will not be given to split up parties because you have to be in the right place at the right time, if only half a group gets lanyards it doesn't alter their plans in any way.

Fast passes are a little bit more tricky for the reason you mentioned, the Dream Squad will try and accommodate groups that are split up, but they only have "X" number of passes and once they are gone that's it. The Passes must be awarded to those who "won" first. That being said, if she didn't get a fastpass, she could still get on the attraction with her boyfriend, the operations CM's make accommodations for that kind of thing.

I am surprised that sometimes they will give them to people if they were gone and sometimes they wont.

I was in a situation at RnR that was a little "wrong" to me too - I was in the single rider line and ushered into the control room. Everyone in the main section was given dream FP's, but me and one other person in the single rider area were not. Not a huge deal, but it made me a little mad at the time
