I am sure that I am not alone in this: How many of you get snide remarks or chuckles when asked what you are doing for your family vacation? BECAUSE they KNOW that the only place you think is WORTHY of a family vacation is the MOUSE HOUSE!!!

OK---now the same people who think that I should "branch out" explore new places (We go to other places JUST kids are not as excited when they have to hike down "fat man's squeeze" or trek down a cave. Not to mention those of us who end up having to carry the 2 year old because they donot allow strollers!!!!

Anyway---these people NOW what to use my KNOWLEDGE of the ends and outs, what is a MUST DO, what to avoid, how to SAVE money!!!

Now being a savvy shopper I do not throw money away so I have a few things I do and skip.

But a part of me wants to be stingy with the knowledge that I have came upon by my MANY trips to WDW.

I do not understand why people think that they can put down my trips then BEG for help to plan their trip. I know these people and once they go, they will be hooked just like me, but I can't get over all the little snickers.

Ok there is my vent!!!

We are in the same situation. My BIL always made fun of me for liking Disney so much and only going to Disney and not to other attractions in Orlando. He said he'd rather take is family (three kids under 9) to Vegas! He thinks he would get to gamble and drink while his wife watches the kids. Bonehead!!
Well, his wife wants to plan a Disney trip sometime soon and she has pretty much agreed with me. Stay onsite, dining plan, the whole nine yards. He wants to drive from Ohio hauling their pop-up camper and only go to Disney one day. Like I said, BONEHEAD!!

I'm going to give his wife all the expertise and tips I know and help her with ressies and ADR's and touring guides. Hopefully they will have a great time and I can convert the Bonehead. Here's hoping! :confused3

Perhaps we're just fortunate, but the people we associate with don't express judgements about our vacation choices, at least not to our faces. There are some who ask for our advice, and we give it gladly, and I hope I would do so for someone who did belittle our yearly trek to WDW. I don't think it's a given that a newbie who visits WDW will, without fail, get hooked. If they go during a crowded time, stay off-site, get there late, don't use PF, pay rack-rate for a room and commit any of the many errors we've learned to avoid, Disney won't see very magical at all.

It's a slight variation on the topic -- friends know I'm a WDW "pro" and I don't mind being asked for advice, BUT I laugh and say there's not much I can do when they ask me for help the day before they're leaving! I'm as generous as I can be (and always encourage people to plan ahead) when there's time to be able to make use of the help, but people who wait until the last minute "probably" wouldn't have made use of information early on. I think you can divide the world between planners and wing-it-ers, and those wing-it types don't seem to get it that you can't have it both ways!
