Have the new Art Classes being offered at SSR, BV, BW and AK started yet? If so, has anyone been to one and have feedback on them?

Also, does anyone know if they will discontinue the free drawing at AoA?

I haven't been to one but I know when I was at AKL in early September 2018, the classes were being offered.

Interesting. I didn't realize it's already been offered that long. Seems like just last month is when an official announcement was made.

No,the Animation Classes at AoA are not effected by the Painting Classes.

Al-Star Sports and POFQ also now have Painting Classes.

Also,POR now has an Animation Class on Mondays and Thursdays from 3PM-4PM.

And what is the difference? Is the Animation class basically sketching with a pencil and the Art class actual painting?

I did this with my DD16 last year at POFQ. It was something like $35 a person on Wed nights at the time. Pre-registration and payment required. I think it was something like 20 people seated at tables of 2-3. Each resort may be a bit different in their offerings. The painting changes monthly and each participating resort has a different one. Info is on resort activity sheet.

It’s more aimed at adults in that they REALLY push you buying an adult beverage from the bar while you paint.

My DD likes to paint on canvas on her own. She did not like the class at all. It was step by step — and you had to wait for everyone to finish their step before the instructor continued or handed out the next colour paint. With alcohol & socializing involved, this took more time. Also, the instructor herself was following someone else’s step by step — so not exactly familiar. Even the instructors end product looked nothing like the artist concept.

All in all, we would not do again .. she did go rogue & started painting it all smudged like a Van Gogh which gave her great pleasure at being the rebel. :rotfl:

We did do the animation class a few years ago at AOA after they shut down the Animation courtyard at DHS (which we loved and did every trip). It’s in a small pit at AOA off the lobby. We were the only people that time. No desks. You were given the clipboards to work on. The artist did let us pick a character. The process wasn’t as charming as the class at DHS. We felt like we were taking up his time. We did enjoy it but we weren’t staying there - and it wasnt worth the effort to go to the resort. If you stay at POP or AOA, for sure. It is a free activity.

Disappointing to hear you didn't really enjoy the experience. They are advertising two different rates now $35/$50. Although the $35 version is geared towards kids and the $50 version is more for adults, I wonder if they have tweaked the format? We want to take DD12 and would not want it to be an environment in which they are strongly pushing alcohol.

Yes, we attended the class at Animation courtyard at DHS a couple times as well and loved it! I was hoping the Paint experience might be a good replacement.

Hope more people share their experiences! Thank you for sharing yours!!
