It is with great sadness and heavy heart that i have to tell you all that at 6.30am this morning Sprout was put to sleep.

Two weeks ago after another bout of bladder trouble they done bacteria tests, results received last week which showed clear so the vet was certain that it was a growth or tumor and last Friday she started a course of steriods. Over the weekend she perked up, but last night i noticed she was hunched up and looking not so good. Unfortunatley at 5.30 this morning she was trying to wee but was screaming in pain, phoned the emergency vet and rushed her straight over there. I knew it was going to be the end then because she was howling in pain all the way there where as normally she loved going for a ride in the car.

By the time we got there she had started to bleed and the vet agreed that it was time to let her go. She didnt put up any resistance and was purring to the end and gave me a little nudge on the hand with her head before she died peacefully with one last sigh. By this time i was in bits but the vet was fantastic. I am having her cremated and her ashes put into a wooden casket.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and kind words over the past few months.

I will miss her dreadfully as she always kept me company in the computer room and she had been with us for nearly 16years.

Rest in peace my precious one.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Alison. It hurts so much to lose a beloved pet :(

It sounds as if you did everything you could. I'm very sorry for Alison.

Alison,
So sorry to hear about Sprout. {{{{hugs}}}}

{{{{HUGS}}}} Alison, so sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Alsion :(.

I hope you'll find some comfort in your memories of Sprout in her happy, healthy days :hug:

Oh I'm so sorry, that's dreadful news. Having to have our belived Tigger put down 2 years ago, is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and it still haunts me.

You have absolutely done the right thing though, she's out of pain, no more suffering and went with some dignity. I'm sure she's up there somewhere happily chasing mice in cat heaven :)

Oh I am so sorry to hear this, was in tears reading the topic, it's so sad when you lose a pet, it's like losing a member of the family isn't it.

Just keep on remembering the happy times.

Alison - can't tell you how sorry I am to hear about Sprout, what a brave little kitty she was right until the end.

Plant something in the garden to remember her by - 16 years of memories will be there for you.

So sorry. No animal friend is "just a pet", they are companions, confidantes and part of a family.
You will always remember her and she will always remember you.

:( :grouphug:

Oh Alison, i'm so sorry. All of us with pets recognise that there will be difficult times such as these, but when you think back in the months and years to come you'll hopefully remember all the wonderful times with Sprout.

Thank you so much for posting your updates after the last few months. You did so much to try to help Sprout maintain a good quality of life, right through to the end, and i'm she was grateful for the extra time you gave her.

Aww, I have tears in my eyes.
I agree they are members of the family.
I am so sorry alison :(

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Sprout. My dear 17 year old kitty was put to sleep this past September and it was a very, very sad time. I am glad to see that you were able to get the words to Rainbow Bridge, it was such a comfort to me during this difficult time. {{HUGS}}
