With Free Dining Can I still pay OOP for DS10 who prefers child's menu???

Disney has clarified this now: Adults cannot use child meal entitlements.
I don't think disneycrazed was saying she was going to use child entitlements for adults. The 2 girls were adults in disney's eyes but would not be ordering off the adult menu, therefore she wanted to pay oop for them and use their adult credits at another time for them. I was hoping to do this also. My DS(11) is an adult will not eat off the adult menu at 2 of the places we are going to (le cellier and Wolfgangs). We have more TS planned than credits, so I was hoping to pay OOP for the 2 places he will not be ordering off the adult menu and use them for the 2 other TS that we don't have enough credits for. Is this actually cheating the system? I don't feel it is since he is an adult, entitled to adult meals, and HE will be using them for the other meals we have planned. Unfortunately the meals he will not order off the adult menu are not at the very end of our stay, or else we would have no choice but to pay oop since we will no longer have any credits. But they are the more expensive ones (le cellier and WPC) so my DH and I will definitely be using our credits. I hope disney will allow us to do this.

Discuss what? :confused3
The old brochure lead many people to believe it was OK to use "child credits" to purchase adult meals. Others thought a seperation was implied. There was certainly a basis for having a discussion.

The addition of page 5 to the brochure really ended the discussion.

I guess the discussion is what rules is it OK for guests to break.

You can certainly steal food from Disney but there is no longer any basis to think it's permitted.

I plan on using my childs credits for an adult meal, and if they don't allow it "oh well". You can say what you want, but I am going to do what I want. Yes Disney has rules like this, but they don't enforce them, IE: 5 people in a studio. You are entitled to your opnion, and I think people have got the point and now let people discuss this!

My DSs were 11&7 last year while on the free DDP. DS11 is not an adventurous eater. At EVERY TS restaurant, we were asked the ages of our two sons. DS11 was allowed to order off the kids menu, but because he was over 9, he was "charged" the adult price (and given an adult portion). The meals were in the $14-18 range. Because we used his DDP credit for his meals, he also was allowed to choose any appetizer and dessert off the adult or kids menus. :flower:

as the song says, teach your children well.........

I have an 11-year old who eats like a bird. He is full after the appetizer. If it is not a buffet, I will not use his adult credit for a full course meal. He will not eat it and I should not be penalized with a waisted adult credit. He can share my meal or I will pay OOP for a child's meal. This is not cheating the system. I am using adult credits for adult meals.

On the other hand, I have a 9-year old who eats like a bear. She may use DS's adult credit while he uses the child credit.

Thanks Bicker... Bottom Line, I quess I am trying to cheat the system. It just seems that a 10 yr. old is a far cry from an adult as far as dining.
I found the new brochure with the page 5 Q&A, and no, according to the brochure, doing what you propose is not prohibited, nor is it cheating the system so long as we aren't talking about a signature restaurant or character dining experience. For those locations it does state that 2 TS credits will be deducted for each guest dining. So it seems safe to assume that 2 credits will be deducted for each member of the party at these locations. Beyond that, the brochure talks much more about flexibility than anything else. "Use your meals and snacks in any amount throughout your stay until your total is depleted" the plan states. So it would seem at a regular TS location you are free to use only those credits you desire to use at that time, obtaining an appetizer, entree and dessert for each credit redeemed. That is all very reasonable.

The Q&A section does specify that adults may not use child credits, and that is reasonable as well. Nothing in the brochure, including the Q&A section, prohibits you from paying out of pocket for certain items should you choose not to redeem a credit at a particular time and location. In support of that, the answer to the question "Must I use exactly 1 QS, 1 TS and 1 Snack credit each night of my stay?" is "No, for maximum flexibility, meal entitlements can be used whenever you like during your package stay."

So, not using one of your son's adult TS credits at a location one night so that you can use that adult table service credit at another location on another night would not be cheating the system.

As always, be mindful of new clarifications in the plan brochure, as well as actual experiences posted by folks on these boards..........

Well said. It is really outragous that mature adults have to ask whether it is okay to violate the agreements they enter into. It is as if, in some people's minds, everything is subject to their personal benefit -- any conditions that violate that are therefore, in their minds, null and void. Silly.

An attitude like yours is pitiful...truely pitiful.
