Unfortunately, no discounts for guests of AP's. Wouldn't that be a neat perk? It's not as though they are having problems luring new AP holders, though.
For your blockout question, be sure you're thinking of future needs, and figure out if maybe upgrading APs might work better for the year than getting blockout passes.

You're so right, bumbershoot. I am planning on going to the Haunted Mansion O'Pin House on June 20. It's held in the hotel but they are giving a coupon good for that day only for certain merchandise. I wasn't sure if that merchandise would all be sold there at the hotel (I imagine it would) or I'd have to go into the park.
Dangermouse, yes, it would be a cool perk. I don't know about their AP sales but it was reported in the paper this week that Disney sales are down (no surprise there, everyone's are down). I know it doesn't feel that way when you're there in a crowd.
Based on my own experience, the minute you even think about visiting the parks on a blackout day is the day you need to seriously consider upgrading your pass, especially if you have the deluxe.
I got the deluxe because I thought I could control when I visited Disneyland, so I could avoid the relatively low number of blackout days. While I could control that, I have no control over Disneyland choosing to schedule a special event on a blackout day or over friends and family deciding to go down on blackout days and inviting me to go along.
