when would you advise first-time visitors to go to DLR in 2015?

I realize that, at any given time, there will always be a few things down for refurbishment, but the following list seems like a lot, given many of these are for headliners where the refurb extends over the entirety of the spring break period:

Matterhorn Bobsleds 1/5/15-5/13/15
Splash Mountain 1/12/15 -4/2/15
Peter Pan's Flight 1/12/15-5/7/15
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 1/12/15-2/5/15
Haunted Mansion 1/12/15-1/22/15
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 1/5/15-1/8/15
Soarin' Over California 1/6/15-5/14/15
World of Color 1/7/15-3/12/15
Luigi's Flying Tires 1/12/15-12/1/15

I assume this has something to do with getting everything ready for the 60th Anniversry celebration (and along those, lines, will there be other refurbs added to this list for late/spring early summer, such that there will be significant ride closures right up until early July?:confused3).

We'd like to go when as many attractions as possible (particularly headliners) are up and running but before the massive summer crowds hit. Wondering if that will be possible in 2015.

Most of the attractions should be running by the very beginning of the summer season as the park has to be ready for the anniversary. If you can't visit after summer, I personally think May is a good option for you.

I'll let people with more experience give you advise.

This number of refurbs on major attractions is shocking to me! We have talked about an anniversary trip in January, but there is no way I would plan a trip to Disneyland under these conditions.

Hi Where online are these listed? i wanted to keep checking the refurbs but on the site i check there is nothing listed for 2015.

also, where is the best place to look for the most up-to-date refurb lists?

Honestly it's going to be a busy year that year with the 60th birthday. They want to make sure everything is ready. I would say your best chance would probably be the week of may 18th as the following week is memorial day. After that though I have a feeling it's going to be nuts all through the rest of the calendar year.

If you choose to go in May check the dates for Grad Nights. I might look to go once the SoCal Passes are blocked out for summer.

We're booked for March 4th thru 7th 2015. This list doesn't look as bad as the list in 2013 when we went the end of January.

In 2013 ALL of these were closed during the week we were in the parks.
Fireworks
Fantasmic!
World of Color
Big Thunder Mountain RR
Splash Mountain
IASW
Tea Cups
Tom Sawyer Island
Canoes
Mark Twain Riverboat
GRR
Disney Jr.

I just hope BTMRR is open when we're there. We have missed it the last 3 trips because of its' extended refurb.

Even with all of the closures in 2013 we had a blast.

I'd probably aim for the week before memorial day in May. Possibly early June, but it'll probably be more crowded then.

I assume Fantasmic will be added to the list for Jan/Feb because that is when it always goes dark each year.

When we went last spring there was a long list also

BTMRR
Indiana Jones
Alice
Nemo subs
Soarin
Small world
Mickeys house
THE entire RR

They changed at the last minute and Alice and Soarin were both open I'm going in February just like I have been planning!

we were there the feb 2013 and missed a lot of the same. We still had fun and gives us something to look forward to next year. I did however go on BTMRR in wdw while I was pregnant. I couldn't pass it up :)

Wow, I'm just seeing this now and I have to say I'm slightly crushed. We'll be there mid-April and I'm so, so sad that the Matterhorn and Soarin' will be down. Ugh, first time back in 20 years and the Matterhorn was closed last time too, just my luck, haha. Between this and the problems we had booking our hotel just now, I'm feeling a little deflated. If we hadn't bought airfare when it was first released I'd be rethinking.:sad2:

I just read on an update on Miceage that supposedly there will be nightly showings of Fantasmic starting when WOC goes down. Something about being able to get lots of practice in dealing with a new FP system for Fantasmic viewing. (there is another thread about that) I am now much happier about our Jan trip!:) Not so sure about the FP thing though

We were going to surprise our daughters with a trip to DL in early Feb, but have rescheduled to early June after seeing all the refurbs that will be in progress during our original dates. Will just have to keep the secret a little longer. :)

I have to admit...I hope a lot of people do this so the parks will be empty for us in February...ha!
