Title sums in up. Longer story, we know Im in the phase of my life and focus is on quality etc. My wish list is long, incl many travel stuff as a travel addict. Many arent realistic anymore. Which includes wdw. Leaves the new nr; Disney Paris (if not clear yet, arent American but Dutch). See in through my nephews eyes. Great but still left some issues; got some budget but not for all and much more important; being bedridden and waiting too long (got to love bureaucracy) for a lie flat powerchair does not work. I know that could be solved if being able to use the facilities, volunteers etc of our national ambulance wish foundation. Talked it over with a friend, how I might contact them later on but first wanting tot figure out some other stuff.

Dat mentioned he also toyed with the idea for over a week. Schocking, he is a do person, but passionately hates amusement parcs and asking for help or hand outs. Same day my friend called my mom, with the idea not to wait but fill out a form. That was Wednesday. Today my mom got a call; wish granted. Let it settle in, talk it over, inform daughter, talk dates and monday well start working on the details. All are still bouncing from the buzz.

I can take along 2 persons of my choice. Simple; parents. Brother, sil andere nephews however also belong with us. I can totally understand the limited funds of the foundation and rather granting more wishes with the same money than one and more folks along. Got some funds left thanks to many cancelled trips this year so they can come along. Called brother who had no clue about moms actions and tol him. His reaction; no way, I am just telling my collegue sil and I decided te contact MAW for you! (had no clue yet they only do kids here, grin). Talked dates, if we can make it work itll be the week of oct 13th, week after my birthday.

And now I need to update my knowledge about Paris. Last time I went I used a manual chair, but could do full days, all transfers desired, you name it. Have since helped out many for their trip, but none a situation close to bedridden. I know it can be done and will be done. But feel a bit like a fish out of water knowing so little. So any experience is greatly appreciated.

Asides from accessibilty info, also appreciate info on what is fun for nephews, aged almost 4 and 1.

What I do know? That its not as accessible as wdw, well need my disability parking card for the accessibilty card. I know its not christmas sensor yet, alas.

Your post is extremely confusing and I'm not sure what you are asking.

If you are asking about how accessible Paris is for someone in a wheelchair, the answer is not very. I have visited it many times and am not handicapped, but have noticed that it is handicapped non-friendly. Many narrow doorways, tiny elevators, stairs as the only entry, etc.

Cut her some slack, she's Dutch!

Are you talking about Disneyland Paris or the city of Paris? I haven't been to DLP myself but it's Disney so should be accessible.

For your personal condition ... well, that's another matter and needs to be looked into carefully before you commit yourself financially.

I can understand you wanting to take your nephews, but bearing in mind the sort of accommodations that will need to be made for you to ride anything (if that's even possible if you have to stay mostly lying down), won't the young boys get bored and/or fidgety waiting around for you to be catered for before they can do anything?

Maybe you'd be better off just taking a couple of adult family members/carers who can make the trip as comfortable and stress-free as possible for you.

I wish you well, whatever you decide.

. . . not really
. . . Europe is not as "accessible" or "handicap friendly" as the USA
. . . and, Disney is no different

. . . If you are asking about how accessible Paris is for someone in a wheelchair, the answer is not very . . .
. . . true
. . . I ran a plant in Pontarlier-France and Pontypool-Wales did DLP several times
. . . it was surprising the amount of non-handicap-friendly rides

There will be 4 adults along the boys know; their parents and grandparents. Then there will be 2 volunteers from the foundation. Boys have grown up not knowing me any other way and needing to wait, de something different or not doesnt face them. Its normal for them, just part of life. Just as its normal for them to play with me wheelchair, or sit on my bed. Anything else is the difference for them.

Its purely about Disney Paris, done the city and no need to repeat. Ik is indeed disney, built on new site in the 90-jarige but accessibility is poor when comparing tot Wdw. To give an example it still works with fotl (has to and can given the difference in supply and demand.
I know its a bit of a contradiction but looking at it from a US pov is a world apart from the EU pov. Know there are also experienced UK visitors on here. I know me riding is not an option without transfer and sitting, its always been that way even for for instance powerchair user. Thats ok, there are also shows, parades etc. If Im out 2 hours at a time thats fine and they got the freedom to go on langer where desired.

Wish trips to Disney Paris is pretty common in Europe, incl alike situations. Lie flat chairs can do a lot and if not having your own or needing To wait to long like I do for it is a shame but guerney still allows for certain mobility. I know my own adaptability to being able To work on the spot with new surrounding thanks to travelling a lot and my family has no challenge in focussing op what is and can be done, not getting Hung up in the what isnt. Well make it work, but some personal experiences would be welcomed. Itll be short moments and limited in what I can do but plenty for the importance Disney has in my life and what wel get out of it; memories of huge importance. As long as we dont have To go in debt cost is not important. Its a means to an end. Not all will see it that way which is fine for them. I do see it this way. Thats why trips To wdw were worth it, regardless of the 30 minutes a day I had. Would plan accordingly a 4 week stay, flew business To Lie down, no plans but as it goes. Its not a so called norm but literally the world compared to doing the same oud same thing minus all the fun at home. Prices can become steep but when wel can somehow scrape it together that is no longer of importance. I couldve never bought myself so much quality of life and fond memories, nor will my family be able to buy themselves memories. Money is a vehicle for us to more important things and if it is possible, how much isnt as important as what it can bring. Heck, I know doing this will negatively impact my quantity of life. No need for thinking or discussion since all know it is worth it To me. Has always been and only become more so with each step I come closer to the end. Some people are just wired differently that way :-)

I love the fact that when choosing a wish for yourself, you knew a dream would be to see disney through the eyes of your nephew. I don't know much about disney in Paris, just what I read a few weeks ago by accident, but I do know they will work with you make accommodations. For your trip, I would recommend having a phone with video chat capability, so that if you need to go back to the hotel, your nephew can show you what he sees, after he sees it, so even if you can't be there you can still experience it with him. With character meet and greets, you will all have memories that last a life time. I will gladly do some more research if needed, and know you will have a wonderful wish!!

Seriously? I tried to answer her question. Most Dutch people I have encountered (and I've been to the Netherlands many, many times) speak English very well.

I don't think language itself is the issue, it's just that the OP put in a whole lot of extraneous information which has nothing to do with what the question appears to be; how accessible is Paris Disney.

Sjeez, sorry for being enthousiastic, bouncing of the wall and being so daft as to think this were a place folks might get that sometimes it is not just cold hard facts but also sharing.

Tip; if that bothers you, it might give you morele forum pleasure tot stay clear from my posts. I do not do short, cold factual.

Great tip!! Didnt consider that myself, but will look into it starting with checking out if free wifi has hit the hotels and parks yet op not. Already considering getting the older one a kiddy photo cam, so hè can snap pics of how HE sees things. Will be interesting for us all now and a good way for hij also when hè gets older. We know from experience a 4 year old will remember some but also forget a lot, so having a database of his pov will be nice. Also have the plan to film, not as much for me but for my loved ones. But a live feed would be great! Both are used to skyping, so will do fine with it as just another normal thing of daily life.

My wish is pure ego. :-) Disney is great and huge for me, but I want the boys to experience it also (whether hate or love) and if possible always hoped to be the one to take them. I experienced the magic and more myself as aan adult but havent got the childs innocence anymore. Seeing it through a child is chills up my spine special, same as those few years the fully grasp Santa and christmas but arent aware of the adult facts yet. I want to give my parents as many special memories as possible. I can do very little to ease their pain, but this helps them. My biggest pain is their pain, so purely own agenda. And lets be honest; this is amazing but a load of cherries in a huge cake. We get to spent time together. People took time out to contact the foundation. Health care profressionals give up their time, for us. People, strangers, donate money. Its humbling, throughly is.
