During the airplane trip.....It crossed my mind..."Just how bad would it be to drive to WDW from Buffalo?" LOL
On future trips, I will be prepared for the fuzziness I will experience from the flight down.
I am going to write a letter of appreciation to the CM at the front desk who gave us the complimentary room upgrade. Because I was in such a funk at the time, I don't feel that I appropriately showed my great appreciation for the wonderful room we were assigned and I felt bad about that the whole time we were there. Each time I passed by the front desk I looked for him...but never saw him again.
I thought that the only park that seemed crowded was Magic Kingdom. I will only do EE and E-night there in the future.
The resort transportation worked out great for us. We never experienced any long waits or lines. I was very pleased with that fact. Most of the time, the buses were only half filled!
We ate way less than I thought we would. I was glad I did not make more PS's than I did. There seemed to be plenty of great places where we could have dined without a PS also.
Although we had mugs and jugs that we could carry around, we preferred to carry as little as possible, mostly because of the heat. It was more convenient to purchase beverages here and there as needed.
Many things that I had brought along were never needed, but I just know if I hadn't, I would have wished I had! LOL.
I thought I would try to do a load or 2 of laundry. I am glad I packed enough clothing so that I didn't have to because it never happened! I just couldn't bring myself to do it, lol.
We did not run into one single miserable person while we we there. CMs and visitors alike were cordial and polite.
As far as the heat.........my kids do not ever want to go to WDW in August again, or so they say now, lol. I would go in August again...but probably not with the kids, lol.
Everyone in my family has different tastes for the most part, and would tour differently if given the opportunity to be in charge. I think overall we did pretty well accomodating everyone's WDW wishes though. I plan on a solo trip early next year, so I just made sure the kids got what they wanted out of this trip. Believe me, I am starting a "to do' list for myself now, lol.
DH's only complaint was the taste of the water...bleah!

WDW truly is an awesome experience. A few more days would have been perfect!!

Thanks for reading my reports. I hope they were helpful in some way. If anyone has any questions...feel free to ask away! I'll post some pics as soon as possible. I'm sure I left out some stuff. I'm still a little fuzzy from the flight home. I guess I should go unpack now....ugh.:)

I enjoyed reading your trip reports. Thanks so much for posting them. It helps pass the time until our trip in late 2002. :D

loved your reports - gets me more excited for our next trip - 26 days!

thanks for all the work that went into these:D

Great reports Wishydoo! A solo trip sounds like so much fun!

I like the fact that when some things went wrong from the very beginning of the trip, you never let them get to you. That's how I am. I'm a true believer in making your vacation (and life) the way you want it to be.

I have had the best of luck with Disney transportation too. The first time down I rented a car, but never again.

Road trip to Disney World! I love that idea. As long as I could stop where ever, when ever, I would love it! I know it takes only a few hours to fly, but good music, good drivers and a comfortable mini van and I would love it!

Aren't EE and E night great!

I'm glad you all had a wonderful time! Good to see you back "home" again though.

I'm glad you liked the reports. I know I could have elaborated on them, but I figure if anyone had specific questions, they would ask. And also, I didn't want to give the details of every experience for fear of ruining some special surprises for first timers! When I post my pics I will share a bit more of my emotions during various events. But suffice it to say for now..I was happy at WDW! Other than the occassional "I'm hot", from the peanut gallery, and my son's tiredness the 1st night or 2, there was not much to complain about!!

Saffron - I was dissappointed with myself..arriving in the condition that I did. I thought I would be floating on air, in awe of the Contemporary as we drove up, but I was really uncomfortable. I didn't say much when we first arrived. I was afraid that if I opened my mouth, I would start crying. I knew that once we got to our room, I would feel better. I just tried to keep a good thought until then. I knew my troubles were way less important than what many people go through on a day to day basis, and I kept that in mind.
Once we got to our room...I suddenly felt comfortable and right. The view from our room brought tears of joy to my eyes. We were on the 3rd floor, with a picturesque view. I felt we had total privacy there. We were able to leave the curtains wide open. Each time we walked into that room, I felt the same way as the first time!

I agree with you, life is what you make of it. Knowledge is power and Attitude is everything. Keeping things in proper perspective doesn't hurt either!

Some of us are trying to get a meet going in WDW around the first of Feb. Everyone is welcome! I'm still waiting to see what my calender says about that, but regardless, I still aim to get to WDW sometime in Feb...meet or no meet! Any chance you could make it down for a weekend Saffron??

I wish! :( I'll be in the last semester of my Junior year in college. :( But .... once I'm out of school, I would love to meet you and many others in WDW! That would be so much fun! So, I'll be out of school in Fall 2002 or Spring 2003 so hold some time open for me for then, OK?!

Meanwhile I'll get by, by reading everyone's trip reports and seeing your pictures! I can't wait until you get them up!

I was wondering, did you have the same problems with your ears on the way home? That's horrible.

Okay...I feel confident that you and I will meet up eventually Saffron!:)

As far as my ears.....The Contemp. has a Sundries shop, and the first night I was there I checked it out..looking for earplanes for myself. I was fearful of the flight home without them!
They had none and neither did the Sundry shop at the Poly.

I had almost forgotten about them, and at the airport, just minutes before we were to board the plane I remembered. DH made a mad dash for them, somewhere in the airport. I don't know where..but THANK GOD he got them!!

I still could feel some pressure, but having those babies in made a huge difference!!!!

I would never fly without them again and will have my kids wear them always. I don't even want them to try taking them out to see if it would be okay. It is not worth the risk of such pain!

Thank you so much for the great reports-we are staying at the CR next April, and it was nice to hear so many details about it. Sorry you had suich a rough time on the flight down. I always get the early flights too-just gives you more time in WDW! You have a great attitude!!

Hi Wishydoo..

Sounds like you had a great time and I know exactly where you live - I'm from Tonawanda and we almost bought a house in N.Tonawanda in that beautiful neighborhood with all the victorians. But, instead we moved to Valencia, California about 5 years ago (we just love it - our town looks like a Disneyland set......and must admit I don't miss my shovel one bit! But I do miss our friends!

Question for you...where can you purchase "earplanes" and exactly what are they? I've had the same problem with my ears before on a plane and its horrible!

Thanks!

Well hello there Brando!
It really IS a small world isn't it? lol. I didn't just hear you say "shovel" (evil glare),lol;)

Earplanes are pretty similar to the earplugs a person would wear for swimming. They are called just that.. EarPlanes, and were $5.99 a pair. They came in a small box, one pair per box. We got ours right at CVS Pharmacy. I'm sure they could be found at pretty much any drugstore or maybe even a department store. Such a small price to pay for comfort I say!

On the return flight, we saw another adult experiencing ear pain. The flight attendant brought the person 2 styrofoam cups and placed them over his ears. They had steam in them and she said that the steam would help relieve the pressure by loosening stuff up in the ears.
So, if you find yourself without earplanes..ask for steam!

Your town sounds great! Glad to hear from you! :)
