Day 6 - July 9th - Evil wake-up call at 8:00 a.m. (our usual awakening time) and off to b-fast at Concourse Steakhouse. I was originally going to change these ressies because of the slow service from dinner time on July 6th, but figured I would give it another shot.
Breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular, by this time I was sick of eating eggs, so I ordered pancakes. Service was a little slow still, but nothing like we experienced on July 6th. The only thing I didn't like about the Concourse Steakhouse was that there were little birdies everywhere! Swooping down to pick up crumbs on the floor, kinda strange, but since there is an opening in the Contemporary where the monorail goes in and out, the birds are pretty smart to get free food on a daily basis. Also, when the monorail goes through, this restaurant does vibrate. Chef Mickey's does not, partly because Chef Mickey's is more enclosed than Concourse Steakhouse.
After b-fast we walked around the Contemporary Resort for a little while, and ya know, its not a bad resort at all. The view from the back of the Contemporary faces Bay Lake, and it has a few pools back there and a long dock, which we walked out on and looked through the viewfinders all around Bay Lake. I don't know what the inside of the rooms look like, but I'm thinking of maybe staying there one day. The place is huge! After walking around the resort and taking some pics, we headed to the Contemporary Bus Stop to catch the bus for MGM where we would spend our day.
MGM was crowded, but not like Magic Kingdom crowded. We did Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which was very fun! DH was #6 on the Top 10 list, unfortunately, he never made it to the hot seat. I would of liked to play it again, but we wanted to see other things and the last show was at 5:15, which kinda stunk! We also did Star Tours, The Great Movie Ride, Muppets 3-D (love that), Backlot Tour, saw the Movie Stars and Motor Cars Parade and did some pin shopping.
We headed off to Sci-Fi Drive In for Dinner, and although it doesn't get great reviews, we LOVED it! We sat right in front and had the car to ourselves. We all ordered burgers and shakes for dinner and the movies, though kind of corny, were fun to watch while eating. The only negative thing I could say about it was that there wasn't much lighting, you had this little light bar which you can see your food (slightly) but other than that, that's what a drive-in is, DARK. DH and I had our burgers with the works, cheese, onions, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato, DH had a strawberry shake and chocolate for me. The shakes were thick and rich. DS had a cookies and cream shake which he drank the whole thing (unusual for him) so it must of been awesome!
We were supposed to see Fantasmic, but DD was getting moody (almost 13) and started whining how she was sick of parades, etc, so we ended up heading back to the GF.
When we got there, we left the moody one in the room and took DS down to do some night swimming. We basically had the pool to ourselves. The water temp was around 85, and when you got out, the night air felt cold. We then warmed up with some hot coffee and cocoa and called it a night.
Day 7 - July 10th - Our Last Full Day
Breakfast again at Chef Mickey's (my new favorite b-fast buffet) gotta do that more often! Again, they shuffle you off to take your pic, (didn't buy them this time) hmmmmm wonder what they do with the unwanted ones? As we were enjoying our b-fast, crash, boom, bang, thunderstorm rolled in (unusual for morning time) the rain usually happened in the afternoon. I was kind of disappointed because I wanted to spend the entire day in MK and then the evening in Epcot.
After b-fast, it was pouring! So we hopped the monorail over to GF to grab our ponchos, and then headed (plastic bag family) to the MK. When we arrived, it was a sea of yellow ponchos, all over the place, I wish I took my video camera, because it was comical, everywhere you looked, you saw yellow mickey ponchos!
We swam to FantasyLand, where we waited under dryness to ride Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Scary Adventures and Pooh, at this point I didn't care about the long lines, I just didn't want to feel like wrapped food. After we got off those rides, the rain started tappering off, and kids went to get in line for Dumbo while DH and I grabbed a cup of coffee and went over to Frontier Land and checked out the Haunted Mansion merchandise. When we returned, kids were still in line for Dumbo, so we hung out by the old 20,000 Leagues. I wish they kept that open, I really liked that when I was younger.
After kids had their turn on Dumbo, we headed back towards the Haunted Mansion and waited 5 minutes to get in. We then went to Pirates of The Carribean (ok, so we love these rides), then to Aladdin's Magic Carpets (which was just like Dumbo) Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, Country Bears, then headed back to Main Street and did some shopping while the afternoon parade was going on. We never saw that parade, I wish I did, but we were having too much fun getting on the rides and staying away from the heavy volume crowds.
Later, that evening we headed off to Epcot to finish touring the countries. We ate dinner at Alfredo Di Roma's.
Alfredo's is a nice place, there were alot of people, but I didn't feel like I was right on top of anyone like others have described. The dinners were good, not exceptional, but good. DD had the fettuccinni, it tasted like it had butter and parm, not the creamy white stuff we eat at home, DS had lasagna, as well as DH and myself. We couldn't finish it. It was very cheesy and very filling! We didn't even order dessert! We decided we would walk it off and maybe get an ice cream or something later on, but we never did, we were full the entire night. We didn't stay for Illuminations again, although that show is a must see at least once during your vacation.
We then got on the monorail and headed back to our balcony to watch the nightly water pagaent and fireworks from our balcony, knowing that this would be our last night seeing them.
