Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's weekend

I hate VD LOL! We never really do much today - Poor Chris! Our first V Day was kind of ruined. At about 11:55 on Feb 13th I got a call that my Mom passed away while she was in FL. So that Vday was pretty much ruined :( Sorry - don't mean to bring anyone down :rotfl: . It's just not a day we celebrate here. We love each other to the 9's all year long! :lovestruc

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Aww, sorry to hear it Tony. We have similar issues around Christmas. Mike's grandmother died of a stroke she had while wrapping gifts, so Christmas is a tough time of year for him and he isn'[t too fond of it, unfortunately we absolutely love Christmas in my family, so I've pretty much told him I'm sorry for your pain babe, but we're going to have a wonderful holiday season whether you want to or not.

Oh trust me if Chris made a big deal out of Vday - I would have no problem :rotfl: - I guess overall it's just not a big day for us. Like I said - every day is Vday for us! ;)

I did all of my shopping for today at the last minute. Corey had asked for a Yoga mat and a Bob Harper workout video as part of the practical stuff that she wanted this year. I still needed to pick up a card, so I gathered in the VD card section of Target and had to wait for the crowd to thin down where I could get to the "Wife" card section.

While waiting there were a couple of women in the "Romance" section which was between "Husband" and "Wife". One of them picked up one of those Recordable sentiment cards. She looked at it for a minute and was half way reading outloud what the instructions said. She then rather exasperatedly proclaimed, "Oh, this is just too much work." :rotfl: It's Valentine's Day! It's just a card! How can taking 3 minutes or less to record a personalized message for your honey be too much work? :lmao: It just hit me as seriously funny the things that we consider to be too much work when it comes to loving our partners.

so no two buck chuck?

I was actually thinking of a Malbec from TJ's I like

Hey, Two Buck Chuck is good stuff! I really like the merlot. It may be inexpensive, but it's not a crappy wine by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm also a big fan of sangria! :yay: Especially when it's swirled into a frozen margarita! :worship:

Dinner was AMAZING!

We'd never been to the Yachtsman Steakhouse before. We will DEFINITELY be going back.

The beef popover appetizer is my new favorite food. SOOO yummy.

But everything was excellent. The appetizers, the soup/salad, the entrees, the creamed spinach, the desserts, the wine, the service . . .

Just a great experience.

:thumbsup2

Um, NO!

We were too busy enjoying our special time together and enjoying the luxury of a wonderful meal to worry about providing all of you with food porn.

Well I ended up making the sangria with two buck chuck merlot, ,sorry Wally but I have 16 guests coming tonight and needed a big tub of sangria, I can't afford to go broke on wine right now, I have a wedding to pay for :lmao:

I tried a bit last night, and it tasted pretty good, I think it will be better today once all the flavors have time to marry. I also used rum instead of brandy, since some suggested it was better at bringing out the flavor of the fruits.

Hey I didn't say "expensive" - I said - don't use crap.
We have TJ wine here too.
And a great wine store named Best Cellars - everything under $15 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Rob, who was your server at YSH?

We are spending the weekend at the Celebration hotel. They were having a special so I booked us for the holiday. ::yes::

We had dinner at the hotel last night. It was prix fixe, selection of appetizers, entrees, and dessert with a complimentary bottle of champagne (or red or white wine). The food was decent, but no YSH, even though we had one of our former servers from the YSH! :teeth:

The hotel is nice enough, and we are enjoying lazing around not doing much...

We are going to have dinner at the seafood place here in Celebration tonight.

I did call Disney dining today (yeah, I know) to try and book dinner... what a joke! LOL

Boatwrights, Germany, Hollywood and Vine, Chefs du France all before 5:00 pm or the Wave at 8:10. That included all of the boardwalk and DTD too! LOL.

For those who celebrated, I hope your day was great! For those who didn't/don't, I hope your day was great too! :teeth:

Rob, who was your server at YSH?

We had been told that we HAD to request Ricardo, because he's the best server at YSH.

So, I called and asked that they add a note to our reservation that we would like to request Ricardo as our server. The lady (and I'm using the term loosely, here) refused to do so. She explained that it would be more effective to ask at the podium when we arrived because they wouldn't be able to guarantee it on the reservation. I told her that I understood that, but we'd done it in the past, and to please just humor me and put the note on my reservation. She again told me no. I was extremely ticked off. I hung up on her after telling her that she's a prime example of what is wrong with Disney's lack of customer service these days. I then contacted a friend who is a CM with access to the reservation system and had them add the request to the notes on our ressie.

Then we got to YSH early to make sure that they saw our request, and would have enough time to work the table assignments so that they could accomodate our request.

It was Ricardo's night off.

So our server was Thomas, and he was excellent.

:rotfl:

Plans changed through the day. It was cloudy and cool outside here today. We became lazy bums and have just spent the day in. We ate homemade chicken soup for lunch and homemade chili for dinner....thank goodness for frozen leftover soup on dreary lazy days.

We are just going to celebrate Valentine's Day tomorrow instead, since we already have tickets to go to see Kirsten Price in Atlanta tomorrow night. It's at a bar that we have never been to before. I have been by it a million times going to pride, a bar, or Brushstrokes, but just haven't had a reason to go inside until now. I am just hoping to get there early enough that we can get a seat for the show. I am not in the mood to be standing for 3 or more hours....no matter how hot she is.

Oh for g-ds sake. :sad2: Isn't that the way? I'm glad you had Thomas and that you were well satisfied.

You have to put a request for Ricardo on your reservation or you will never get him. We had to go through his close personal friend and have Ricardo put himself on our reservation to get him! Sheesh!

He is wonderful, but there are very good servers there other than Ricardo, too. ::yes::

Like Thomas for instance. He was excellent. We'd consider requesting him again. If the phone nazi at the reservation center deems that appropriate of course.

I was just so extremely blown away when I told the reservation agent "So you're telling me that even though I, a guest who is going to pay full price for a high end meal, am asking you to just humor me and put a note on my reservation, that you won't do it" and she said "that is correct, there's no point". To which I replied "The point is that a guest asked you to do something that is within your power to do." She then chose to berate me for making such a request.

Me=:furious:

I have to tell you, that if we weren't planning on using a gift card we got from our wedding, we'd have no-showed on the reservation and spent our money elsewhere.

This is the kind of thing that makes me crazy. So what if there's no point? Make the guest happy, put the note on there and MOVE ON. If the note has no effect, then you're not losing anything by making the guest happy. It's still luck of the draw whether things work out. At least the guest feels that you've tried to get them what they want. Why fight the battle, create a nasty situation and potentially lose a guest's business?

WDW is going to need us locals to continue to come over for dinner and to spend $$ in the parks. Bookings are down, people aren't making the "big trip" to Florida. Keep us happy and at least you'll have our $$ to count on.
