Wishes Wedding Questions

so I am about to begin planning for my wishes wedding (June 9, 2009 is the date we want). I know i can be penciled in before 12 months out and confirm before 8 months out but i have a few questions on getting started.

1. when do i need to call disney world weddings? does it have to be the 12 moths out or is it better to go ahead and get started a little earlier?

2. Is the deposit refundable or not? i've had conflicting information. on here, it seems like many brides have paid the deposit and it has not been included in the final price of the wedding but it was refunded afterward. however, on the disney wedding website (which it and the wish book prices have been updated in the last few weeks) says that it is not refundable but it is counted toward the wedding payment.

3. do we have to use disney floral? i was thinking of doing silk flowers and arrangements and bringing them down with me. my fmil is an ametuer wedding planner of sorts and has done many silk floral arrangements for weddings and wants to help us save money. but i don't know if there is a cost to using outside floral or whether it is worth it to not use disney

4. if we choose to have our reception at atlantic dance hall (which has to be contracted 12 months out), does that mean that we get to go ahead and reserve our ceremony location as well (we're thinking sea breeze pointe)?

Congrats on planning your wedding!

1) It doesnt have to be 12months out, but I didn't know that til about two weeks before 12months out of my wedding, so when I called they pencilled me in... I'm not exactly sure how far in advance you can be pencilled in. You should just call them and ask them. They may be able to do it now.

2) I'm not exactly sure, I have seen that people get it returned to them after the wedding. Its kind of like a security deposit incase there is damage to the locations or something like that.

3) If you have your wedding in a Disney Park you must use disney florals, however if you have it at any of the hotel or the wedding pavillion you can use outside florals.

4) The ceremony will not be confirmed until 8months out, so you can book your reception but know that you may not get your ceremony location. I really don't know how often this happens, cause I figured there would be a fight for my date and I got it no problem... so Good luck to you on that.

Hi! Outdoor wedding venues like Sea Breeze Point can be booked 12 months in advance.

If you do an Escape wedding, your deposit will be applied toward the balance due. If you do a Wishes wedding, the deposit will not be applied toward the amount you owe Disney, but it will be refunded to you after the wedding, minus any overages...

Umm... not so sure that the outside wedding can be booked 12months in advance, I am having mine at the YC Gazebo and it wasn't confirmed til 8months.

We are having our ceremony in Epcot in Italy next November and we were able to book 12 months out. While down there last week we asked about Seabreeze Point and Heidi said that was an 8 month out venue.

OK, I did some research about this...

It turns out that Escape weddings can book outdoor locations, including Sea Breeze Point, 12 months in advance. But Wishes weddings at Sea Breeze and Yacht Club can only pencil in at 12 months and have to confirm at 8 months because their backup locations are at convention venues. Wishes weddings can book the Wedding Pavilion and in-park locations at 12 months. Escape Weddings have to wait til 8 months to book the Wedding Pavilion.

Yay for another 2009 bride! heh

We're hoping for February 13, 2009, and I just called DFTW for the first time on Monday. They haven't called me back yet, but the woman I spoke to on the phone penciled me in for my date. She said that you can be penciled in at 18 months out, then depending on location it's confirmed at the 8 or 12 month mark.

If your reception is at a ballroom/convention center you have to wait until the 8 months. Confusing, I know.
