Hi

I was reading on here lately that you are no longer able to bring outside photographers into the parks.

I am planning a wishes wedding starting at the wedding pavillion then going onto epcot for the reception and finally a desert party. So am i now unable to have Randy? I've seen the pictures that he has done and I love them.

What am I going to do!

You might find some ideas in this thread:

If you have your heart set on an outside photographer, you might consider switching your reception/dessert party location to a resort location.

If you can't find ideas here or on that thread, talk to your planner about your options.

How about you save some of the shots you particulary like of randy's work and forward them to your WP to say this is the kind of thing I like.

Apart from that it reads that you are going to be stuck with disney photographers for you "in-park" sections of your wedding.

Are disney photographers really that bad? Ive read the odd comment that people arent keen on them, but i've never actually read a post saying "they are awful". (I havent done a search for posts and must have skipped any that have been on the board over the past few months!) What actually is the issue or is it that everyone really like Randy's work?

I had a disney photographer and loved him. I looked at some samples from recent brides and requested one that someone liked and whose pictures I liked. It worked out well. Of course now I hear he's leaving Disney this month, but I'm sure there are plenty of other good photographers, just requires more persistence to your planner on what style of photography you want and if you find a photog you like to make sure they do their best to get that person for you.

KT&Scott - if there's any way you can sign your contract before Oct. 1 of this year, you can still have an outside photographer inside the parks. After that, the policy takes effect.

It's a combo of both. Only a very few of us have accused DPS of doing shoddy work (check out my trip report for the story of our disastrous Magic Kingdom photo shoot).

Mostly it's that Disney only offers a certain, very traditional style of photography, and at high prices. Many people prefer a more creative/modern/photojournalistic style of photography. However, MANY people have also been completely happy with their Disney photography - it's all a matter of taste.

Whether or not one likes their style, it is indisputable that Disney's prices are higher than almost every other local photographer's and their packages include less.

I'm sure there are plenty of other good photographers, just requires more persistence to your planner on what style of photography you want and if you find a photog you like to make sure they do their best to get that person for you.

Officially Disney will not let you select the photographer who shoots your wedding and does not provide samples of individual photographers' work. However if you can find out who you want by looking at others' photos on this board, you can put in a request. Then DPS will attempt to schedule that person for your wedding, but they cannot guarantee it.

I'm sorry if i offended anyone. To be honest I havent really looked at any disney photographers work.

Thanks for all of the advise, I'll take some prints of the randy photos that I like and give them to the disney photographer.

I cant sign my contract before October because the wedding isnt until May 2010!
