Wishes or Illuminations?

Myself, DH, DS6, and DD3 will be going for a very quick trip after our cruise this november. We are staying at BWV. We think we can only manage one evening event. The other night we want to wander the boardwalk, swim in the pool, etc.

Obviously Illuminations would be easier, but I've heard so much about wishes. Is Wishes a better show for little ones? Is it worth the extra effort of bussing back to MK in the evening to see it?

Any opinions would be welcome!

My vote would be Wishes. It is just such an unbelievable show...I get tears in my eyes everytime I see it! ;) It is not to be missed!! :thumbsup2

I also would vote for Wishes.

I would pick Wishes as well. The audio is great- they'll love all the character voices and the fireworks are amazing (I love the stars!!). I cannot get into Illuminations- it is hard to make out the images on the globe and the fireworks are not that impressive. However- if you are going after Thanksgiving I would do Illuminations because they add 10 minutes extra of fireworks for the holidays. Those are great.

Hands down Wishes. Illuminations is kind of boring. It was the only one of the three fireworks shows we did that I got antsy in (and I'm a bit older than 3 or 6!).

IllumiNations would be much, much easier, of course. However, I too would have to recommend Wishes. I have seen it about 5 times and every time I have been moved to tears, it is beautiful! After Wishes we go into Casey's and get some Cokes and just watch all the people swarm out. Then when the crowds die down we exit. Works better with little kids.

Since you have children I would say Wishes they will love it and get a lot more out of it, the story behind illumenations is more grown up.

WOW! That really helps. No longer any doubt. Wishes it is!

Thanks so much, everyone!

I know you have your answer but, I too vote Wishes!

Wishes is just amazing!

Illuminations doesn't seem NEARLY as impressive since Wishes came about (I liked Illuminations over Fantasy in the Sky).

However, the only time I say to see Illuminations over Wishes is during the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas (due to the extra finale they do) and on July 4.

Illuminations is great but WISHES is a must-do, easy choice do WISHES, I've seen it dozens of times and I will never get tired of it!!!

after a good cruise i think wishes will top the vacation. i think that all vacations should end with a day at MK. that's just me.

This is it exactly! The kids will love Wishes... especially if you can be toward the Tommorrowland side of the Castle near where Tinkerbell flies! We also always hit Casey's afterward and sit in the back room watching the old Mickey cartoons while everyone else rushes out in a crush. It is nice to relax and then walk out after the crowd is gone... and it really doesn't take any longer, you just spend the time relaxing instead of standing in a huge line for the Monorail.
Have a wonderful, magical trip!

By now you have your answer but I am just adding my 2 cents worth. With the age of your children I would vote for Wishes. It is magical. I can't wait to see it again in June when we go to celebrate my DD's birthday. :wizard: A must for her is Wishes..LOL she is turning 26!! No one ever out grows Disney. :thumbsup2

Definitely Wishes! Especially if you have never seen it! It is truly magical. :wizard: If I could, I'd go see it every night on my trips. You won't be sorry, it's worth the extra effort to go to MK.

I love Illuminations, but to me Wishes encompasses everything good about the Disney concept--it is much more than just fireworks.

You only have to watch the faces in the crowd at Wishes to understand why!

If only I could change your mind :goodvibes

I would pick Illuminations over Wishes any time. I love Illuminations (brings tears to my eyes)... Wishes... no way near Illuminations (but then again, this is a personal opinion)
