My DW and I are taking our DS9, DD7 and DD4 to WDW in February 2010 and not telling them until the morning or our trip. They have been asking when can we go again for a while and we've been telling them we'll go when I run the 1/2 marathon in January 2011. We will be getting to POR in the early afternoon, 1-2pm, on a Saturday and are trying to decide on what to do that day. The idea that keeps coming up is having dinner (character or not) at a monorail resort and then watching Wishes from the beach at either the GF or Poly. We do need to figure out where to eat dinner, I was contemplating the Luaua at the Poly but the reviews are mediocre...choices, choices, choices. Here's my main question, is either beach a great place to watch Wishes and is one better than the other with kids? Thanks.

Wishes from the Poly is really a great experience. Plus you can watch the electric water pageant. My DH and I did this on our last trip and it was definitely one of the highlights. One thing, though - they're supposed to pipe the music in, and we didn't hear any. Still, we really thought it was a great view, and a beautiful atmosphere.

Think Kona at the Poly... the GF cafe... even if you want something quick... Capt Cooks at the Poly has some good stuff (and dole whips when the machine is working...)

Then get to the beach so you can see the Electric Water Pagent AND then Wishes...

Good luck!!!

I vote for the Kona and then Wishes from the Poly beach. When we were there this past March they piped in the music and we heard it just fine. If you don't think your kids will like Kona do Chef Mickey and then catch the monorail over to the Poly.

Have a great time!

They were not piping the music to the Poly beach in May. I have watched the fireworks from the GF and the Poly. Either was nice. The GF has the campfire, movie, and S'mores now also. I watched the water pageant from the GF beach then I sat out front of Gasparilla Grill and watched the fireworks.
