Wishes dessert party

I've heard both but I would like an "expert" to chime in. I have a 9:15 ADR but have heard others with similar times told to come a bit before (9 in our case) to check in.

I found it to be a "hurry up and wait" routine. We had reservations for the 9:00 seating and we were told to be there for 8:30pm. We got there at 8:30 and stood in a very long line until about 5 minutes to nine. They walked around and checked in names but we weren't let in any earlier. To me, it really didn't matter because they had our table (with a name card) already selected. As soon as we got in we headed sraight to the buffet.

No matter what ADR time you are given - and some people have been given weird times; the phone CMs seem to get awfully confused abou this event - the "party" starts for all attendees 1 hour before the fireworks start. Unlike Disney ADRs, this is a real reservation; your table actually has a little placard with your name written on it, long before you get there.

Show up 5-10 minutes before the start of the party. The CMs check your name off their list and give you wristbands. At the 1 hour mark they seat everyone who is checked in (takes no time at all, since you can see your name on your table already), then go back and check in the stragglers. You can immediately start getting your food and drinks.

Showing up early does not change your seating assignment and defeats the whole purpose of NOT having to hang out for hours before an event in order to get a good spot. Showing up late simply cuts into your buffet time (and means more of those chocolate-covered strawberries for me!).

This year with the new show on the castle, we were let in earlier so that we were seated prior to the show. All other times they let in exactly 1 hour prior to the show.

We usually show up 20 minutes before the hour as the CM's do go through the line and if your whole party is there they will check you in and give you your bracelet. The time you were given is not used. Your table is pre-assigned so if you show up at that time they walk you to your table, same as if you show up 20 minutes after the hour.

We choose to be there for the whole hour, it is nice and relaxing. The show on the castle is fun to watch, and more time to eat and not try to shove it all in at once.

I have been 4 times and will be going 2 more times this year if offered.

oooooohh - did not know about this! How early are they opening the seating up now? Around a quarter till the hour? Or is the castle show already going by then?

That's just what happened to me, also. Although I liked the Wishes Dessert Party, I wouldn't rush to return. What disappointed me the most was that they were running out of food 15 minutes BEFORE the fireworks and 10minutes after the fireworks, there was NADA!

I agree with previous posters about no sense getting there real early. We visited October 2010 and were told to get there an hour before to check in. Thinking they would at least let us in and seat us, well we stood outside in line up until 5 minutes before when they finally let everyone in. They did come through with a clipboard and give us our wristbands but still spent an hour just standing there watching them put the food out.

This is kind of a silly question, but, can you tell what you are lining up for when you get in line?

I'm planning on surprising my friends on my trip in July, and am trying to decide when/whether to tell them, or just let them walk into the buffet area and figure it out, lol. :)

They have you line up before they seat you. We arrived way early so were watching them bring the food out so think your friends would figure it out real quick. I don't understand why they have everyone line up cause they don't start seating till like 5 min before start time if that. It's still fun and we will probably try it again in November if it's still offered.

We made reservations for our May trip at the dessert party. Do we just show up at the time of our reservation? Do we get any paperwork in regards to our reservation?

Thanks.

Just amade reservations for July 3rd, There were times at 7, 8, and 9 the fireworks are at 10 3 hrs seems a little long to sit and wait.

So if you get a 7pm reservation and fireworks are at 10pm what/where do you go at 8pm and 9pm when the next reservations arrive?

There is a sign where you line up that typically states when you should return for - no matter the time on your reservation, they will only start letting people in about 5 minutes before it begins and the dessert buffet begins one hour before the fireworks. :)

I'm surprised you didn't get an e-mail confirmation with your confirmation number. In any case the CM's will confirm your name is on the list and give you a wrist band.:)

I was interested in this too but I'm a little lost. So if I have a 7pm reservation, but they don't bring the dessert out until 9pm (1 hour before 10pm Fireworks show), what's the point of the 7pm reservation? Sorry if I'm being obtuse but I'm just really lost.

you should not get a 7pm reservation... for 10pm fireworks you will get 8:45-9:15 reservations...

I guess don't book it online then :) The online system was giving me a 8pm ressie for July 3rd where the PP had stated the fireworks were at 10pm. I guess they haven't updated the change in fireworks time for the seasons.

I was wondering if you really have a good view of the castle and fireworks? Or is this just another scam to get that last dollar you were hanging on to, to buy that mickey mug.:rotfl2:
