Any thoughts on the Wishes Dessert Party?

Was it worth the price and time?

Traveling with DH and our children (13 and 11) and will be at Disney ALL next week!!

We think so. I love desserts and there is a bit of a variety. I felt they tasted good but not outstanding. The best part was the view of the castle/fireworks. Very few people actually stood up and went to the railings so our view was not obstructed. We will do it again if we have the opportunity.

Was the price high? Yes
Was it worth it? Yes

My sister, her grandchildren (ages 4 and 2) and I attended the Dessert Party during the Christmas season. It was worth every penny when Tink flew right above our heads. We were seated in the first row of tables. The view of the fireworks was amazing.

:flower3:

We thought that it was worth it. We were there last Friday night and everyone enjoyed the desserts. Loved the chocolate covered strawberries and there were lots of other things to try. My daughters really enjoyed getting to sample so many different things. I guess we just have a sweet tooth. The location was fantastic. We had a table at the front near where you walked into the area. The roof of the building was indented in front of us so we could easily see while sitting down even if people where standing at the rail. The whole thing had a very relaxed feel to it. Some people stood for the whole show but several people were moving about. There was so much room that it didn't really matter.

Even though this is in an open air area, the desserts stayed chilled and we weren't particularly hot. I also did not notice any smell from smokers if they were nearby.

I just want to try it once...worth it or not.

Same here! I just made reservations for October. Since I'm solo, the price was just for one. Also, I have a sweet tooth, so I'm planning to skip dinner and just pig out on dessert (not very healthful, I know). So I'll see if it's worth it.

May daughter and I are booked for Oct as well. We are very much looking forward to the fireworks view and if Tink flies that night it will be extra special

I hope it's worth it! I had to call a few times to get a date in Sept. I fully plan to eat 26 bucks worth of desserts!

It cost me $110 for 4 of us. It is a Birthday Surprise for my niece. I just hate how packed it gets for wishes and this is one evening during the week that is a non party night...So I am sure Spectro and wishes will be packed.

It is going too be nice too have a place too relax and the desserts will be a plus.

I also think it will give us a great view of the castlelights since it is the Holiday season....:goodvibes

This is why I work....It is only money and the memories will be so worth the cost.....:cloud9:

Most of the reviews I have read have been really good.

Same here.

I have never seen wishes, generally fireworks freak me out, crowds drive me crazy. Instead I can stuff my face, be undercover somewhat and avoid the crowds

Now that the price has gone up, I'm not sure if we'll try it. I had it as a yes before, but I am now thinking of getting a cake instead.

I don't think it's worth it. You can have an equally pleasant view of the fireworks for free and pay for a treat of your choice for less money.

I still can't believe that people spend money on this. :confused3 I guess most of them don't remember the days when you could just buy an ice cream and watch the fireworks on the terrace for free (although, I never chose to watch from there--maybe once). Now I have to spend the price of an entire meal for a few buffet style desserts--or am I paying for the experience of watching the fireworks (the same ones that everyone else is watching for free)?

I don't get it--but people are entitled to spend their money differently. :)

Many times we have gotten dole whip or Popcorn and sat and watched the fireworks....

I do understand what you are saying..It is pricey....

I guess you are paying for the experience of being able too sit and relax without the crowds around you???:confused3

Money is not really an issue right now..thank goodness..>Both DH and I are working and I was just wanting too plan a special event for my niece's Birthday...So this just sounded like fun....

A lot of events at Disney make you think and weigh your options...I am still trying too decide if I want too give up 2 dining credits for a CP dining package at Epcot??? Again something we can get in line for and do for free?

Guess it really just depends on what is important too you and if money is tight then by all means don't do it....There are so many choices at Disney and that is what I love about it.

I may never choose too do this again, but I think we may try the dessert party this year and just see how we like it.:goodvibes

I think its worth it if its what you want to do! I have toyed with doing it in October but have decided against it. We may try to do an extra MNSSHP instead.

I can tell you that at Disneyland, we did the Fantasmic Dessert thing a couple of times. Excpet there it was over $50 per person (its even more now). It was a huge splurge that I wouldn't trade for anything. Fantasmic at DL is standing room only and doing it this was the only way my fil could see the show. We still talk about that six years later. Who knows what we would have spent that money on had I opted not to splurge, but I doubt I'd remember it the way I do that Fantasmic Dessert Buffet! Heck it was so great, we did it twice.

I the end, pretty much the entire Disney experience is a splurge, how you fill in the blanks is up to you and can never be bad or wrong in my book!

It is a bit expensive, but I really enjoyed it. The desserts were soooo good! I especially loved the tiramisu and choc. covered strawberries.
We had a front row seat to Wishes too without having to fight the crowds.

I'm sure it will be a fun event to celebrate a birthday, and I hope you enjoy it. :)

Money isn't really and issue for us either right now--although I sure would like my mortgage to disappear. :) We've been blessed with fairly secure jobs at the moment, and we like to save each year for a WDW trip.

For me (and I'm only speaking for myself), I could never see spending the money they're charging for something that doesn't seem like a truly special experience (to me). Maybe it's because I've been visiting the parks since 1982, and have had the pleasure of watching the fireworks from the terrace for free? :confused3 I guess, for some, it may feel like a private viewing of the fireworks? :confused3 I don't see them offering anything special. To me, it's like the expression--you can put lipstick on a pig...to me, it's the plain old terrace with some fancy looking desserts in the mix. My personal feelings--This is the one-and-only time I've ever felt as though WDW is sucking the money out of people (and I'm one to pay for a good experience..loved paying for e-ride night, and would gladly pay again). I feel like they saw a great opportunity to make some money, so they jumped on it. I'm am a huge WDW fan, but this one thing puts a sour taste in my mouth. I'm not someone who normally watches from the terrace, and I've been wanting them to do more with the terrace in recent years. I just don't know that I like what they've come up with. It was a nice place for families to relax and enjoy a free view of the fireworks, and they've turned it into an overpriced moment...very overpriced.

I'm glad that some people love it, but I'd feel as if I was wasting money. I'd rather find one of my favorite park treats and watch for free from an equally good spot. Perhaps it's a great experience for first-timers, people with young children, people who feel crowded during fireworks, or those who want to slow down at the end of a long day. I'm sure it makes little girls feel like princesses for the night. princess:

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from experiencing it, just explaining my thought process. :flower3:

I think its worth it. Doing it for the 3rd time on 9/4. I wouldn't have but Mom wanted to do it again and we have two in our party of six that hasn't done it before and one of them has never been to Disney before.

Count me in as part of the camp who hasn't done it before but wants to try it. I have booked it for our last night in the World as a surprise for the rest of the family (hopefully I can keep it a surprise until we arrive for it). Is it a little steep? Probably, but it's vacation and I always go into into a vaction expecting to splurge at least a little bit.
