Wishes Dessert Party?? yes or no

We went to the Wishes Dessert Party in April and loved it! It was a great way to end a busy day in the Magic Kingdom. Besides the yummy desserts, we especially liked it since it was raining and the fireworks were postponed for about 45 minutes. We got to enjoy great snacks and some tea/coffee while staying dry. It's expensive, but if we're going on vacation, we expect to spend money and my kids are still talking about great their view of the fireworks was.

I can't wait for the dessert party. I'm surprising our kids with it in Nov. It will be our first trip in 6 years and back then they were only 4 & 2. I figure it's vacation, I don't know when we'll be back, so why not? Reading the Dis boards get's me so excited for our trip. 14 weeks and counting. :cheer2:

We did it last October and I'm glad we did. I think it is worth doing once. Previous posters say they wouldn't do it because they used to be able to watch the fireworks from the terrace for free. But since that's no longer an option, you have to look at what you can do in today's world.

1) Grab a Dole Whip or something from the Main Street Bakery, position yourself at least an hour in advance to get a good spot for viewing, stand or sit on an uncomfortable sidewalk for that time, get annoyed by all of the people jostling you and around you, get really annoyed at that person who figured it was OK to get right in front of you , etc. or
2) Pay an overpriced sum to get all you can eat desserts, a seat, an uncrowded viewing area, great location to see Tinkerbell and the fireworks, and a PhotoPass photographer that can take a pic of you and family with castle in the background and no other strangers in the pic at all. or
3) Chuck it all and grab a nice sundae at Beaches and Cream!

I've done option 1 and really hated it. I've now done option 2 and enjoyed it, and will probably now opt for option 3!

I booked it for the first time this year, the night we do the christmas Party. it is a surprise for my DH, because he has said numerous times walking past it , "why dont we do that" so I am hoping he will be pleasantly surprised, the hardest is going to stop him from eating the sugar cookies and hot chocalate given out during the Xmas Party. My daughter who is 10 does know, my son who is 9 does not.

We have been in the MK many, many nights during the fireworks, but have never stopped to watch them. I booked the dessert party so we can sit and relax with a yummy dessert (or 10 ;)) and finally see Wishes. :goodvibes I can't wait! :yay:

We enjoyed it last year, and are doing it again this year. (One more week!)

You may want to call and see if it is available during your trip, since you will be there next week. Hopefully it is not booked up yet.

By the way, OP, this is off topic, but I love your name! My DD12 is a figure skater!

I have a question about it, how long are you allowed to be on the terrace, from what Ive read you can watch the fireworks & parade, but if i was to book on a xmas party nite, the fireworks are @ 9:30 & the 2nd parade isnt til 10:30. would we still be able to stay for both??

We did it last month and loved it. Would I do it every trip? Probably not, especially if I was doing a DP with TS for dinner. But since we were payng OOP we had a very large late lunch and basically used this as dinner (yeah, yeah, setting a bad example but DD isn't a little kid anymore). And the resultant sugar high fueled us all the way through the EMH that night at the MK too!

I looked at it as a 'special experience' rather like one of the special tours or events you can book. But this was one that the entire family could share that gave us specific 'together time', sitting down at a table together chatting for nearly an hour before the fireworks started without being hot, jostled, and footsore in a crowd.

It is expensive. But when I factor in the endless glasses of ice-cold milk DD and DH drank, and the sheer number of desserts we ate (hey, it was my dinner), and the ability to try so many different things......I'm not ENTIRELY sure Disney made that much profit off of us!

The way it has been working is that the Party starts 1 hour before the fireworks, and you need to get there 15-20 minutes prior to the start time for check-in and seating. So if there's a parade at 8:30 you'll actually get to see a lot of that, albeit from a distance, plus the fireworks. They clear you out about 1/2 hour after the fireworks, so figure 8:30 - 10 pm.

Any thoughts on the Wishes Dessert Party?

Was it worth the price and time?

Traveling with DH and our children (13 and 11) and will be at Disney ALL next week!!

We did this on our trip in May and really enjoyed it. No crowds to worry about for the fireworks display. Great desserts to leisurely snack on. And Tinkerbell flies right over you as she descends from the castle! Here are pics of the dessert buffet. For pics of the fireworks display, go to the trip report link below.

Thanks saintstickets for the pictures! :goodvibes It looks really yummy!!!!!

We're doing it in September because for once I want to see the fireworks without having to stand in the midst of very tall people (I'm short) or adults with kids on their shoulders. I can't tell you how many times I have been "kicked in the face" by some "antsy" child or had to stand nose to "pit" with some guy who forgot his deoderant. This year I am sitting with a cup of coffee and some sweets and "see the show"! Who-hoo! :cool1:

I booked mine today too! I am very excited. I thought it would be a nice Christmas present for the family. We are booked for Christmas Eve.

I just want to try it once...worth it or not.
As soon as I got back on the boards & read about this party I knew I had to try it. I love desserts so that was the first thing that enticed me. I also like the idea that DD who will be 19 months will be able to see the fireworks for the first time without the crowd. It sounds fun. I hope we enjoy it! Our party is Oct. 30th!!!

We just booked for August 14, the final night of Summer Nightastic! We are so excited. We did this last summer and loved it. It is a little pricey, but all you can eat desserts that are really good makes it worth it for us. AND you get to see the fireworks!! How much better can it get.....Main Street Electrical Parade dessert party............
