II'm stalking the beginning of August as well, hoping for 8/3! It has to open up soon right?:confused3

I HOPE it opens by the end of May. It will kill me if I have to stalk it for a month again! I planned this for extended family for a trip this past Feb... Talked it up... And then kept trying to get a reservation. I lost all of december stalking the stupid site. They didn't end up opening February until the first week in January!

I hope so! But last year, we had to wait until June 12 for August to open up. Ugh. Hopefully our wait this year won't be so unpleasant. :goodvibes

:cool1:Come on August! :cool1:

Aren't we all??? :-) how'd you fare in all the storms last night?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We were very lucky--we didn't even lose power. Looks like Mt Olive had a tornado though. That's a good bit North of us, but its too close for me! Heard we are in for a new round tonight. Welcome to Spring. . .

I just called and CM told me not to expect to see August open until next month. I have no idea if she knows what she is talking about , but that's what she said.

I don't think they have any idea when it's going to open. She probably just doesn't want to be pestered ;)

I agree. I doubt they know but saying it opens first of the month just sounds good.

I was told August will open June 1st.

I still check every day, sometimes multiple times each day, just so I don't miss it. Guess it gives me something fun to do!!! :-)

I wanted to look into this for our 2014 trip, but I haven't found much information. Can you guys tell me about it? What is the cost per person? Is it something a 3 year old would enjoy. Are there any characters?

The cost per person can vary depending on the time of year, and age. Under 3 is free and there is a child (age 3-9) and adult price (10+). I will say this is one of more "inexpensive" Disney events there is. Still expensive, but for Disney, reasonable--beats the heck out the pirates & pals cruise.

No characters.

Would a 3-year old enjoy it? Depends. Does your 3 year old like fireworks and/or dessert? Is your 3 year old willing to sit in a seat? Does your 3 year old stay up for even watching the fireworks? My youngest was just shy of 3 when we last went. He enjoyed it. He doesn't have a problem sitting in a seat at a table and is frightened by fireworks. And he loved mommy bringing him a bunch of desserts (I never bring young children to a buffet because they don't usually have great buffet manners). DS#3 (age 7) is on the Autism spectrum and, for once, he enjoyed the fireworks. It wasn't crowded (always an issue), and he was able to sit under the table with his noise-cancelling headphones and still the fireworks. It was truly the only time he enjoyed the fireworks at Disney. DS#2 has SPD, and he enjoyed having a great view without people pushing in on him, which is always difficult for him. It's a must-do for us, if we are going to watch the fireworks.

Thank you! That was exactly what I needed to know! We skipped fireworks our last visit because it was just too late, but we heard DS through the monitor one night saying "stars! Stars!" I went to check on him and he had pulled the curtains back and was watching the fireworks from the window. It was our last night and it made me sad we skipped them!

I think next year we will have to try the dessert party. DS will be 3 and it would probably enjoy it more in a less crowded setting.

I never took my DD (now 14) to the Dessert Party when she was young but I sure wish I had because it's a great UNCROWDED location with a perfect view of the fireworks.

If I was going with young children I would never want to fight the crowds to get a spot for the fireworks where you still run the chance of not getting a good view and even if you do get a good view you are still likely going to have to hold them so they can see.

I am considering this. But the day we would most likely go would be the Sept 16th and we are celebrating DS"s 3rd B-day at Chef Mickey's at 6:15 pm. So we wouldn't be that hungry. Is it still worth it.
